  1. I've seen enough of Tonev to think he's gonna be good - eventually. Tekkers looked a bit raw and dodgy in the first couple of games. After a couple of sub appearances he'll learn when to release the ball.
  2. Great - our centre backs don't come of age until they score an OG. That winger is quality
  3. To be honest, I'd prefer Gabby and Matty Lowton not to pull hamstrings during a pointless friendly. Good for Ricky Lambert. I bet he never thought that would happen at his ripe old age.
  4. Where did Enda Stevens actually move to?
  5. Sign that little blond haired kid up wearing the green! He's got better technique that most of our midfield!
  6. The other bit I liked was when he asked his old boyhood manager if he thought Ron would go on to be an internation when he grew up. He was like "no, not really".
  7. Oh dear.... Just watched 'the making of Ron Vlaar' video on AVTV. The questions Jack was asking Ron's sister and mother were just cringe-worthy. "So, what did you do in the evening at home with Ron, did you watch TV?" Ron's sister just looked at him the same way Lambert looked at him when he asked him about the weather, as if to say 'er, what has this to do with anything?'
  8. We have back it in full technicolor
  9. can anyone at the game shed any light on how we're doing? AVTV is a massive pile of shit
  10. Is it just me or is the score display absolutely massive? its takes up half the screen!
  11. I'm grateful but I also recognise how much Young, Downing and Albrighton laid it on a plate for him. When they were gone he cut a pretty limited and lonely figure. He's the professional footballers' answer to the playground goal hanger. Lambert wouldn't have dropped him without first asking him to pull his finger out. He can't create a chance for himself. He can't hold up play. He can't link up play. He was club captain at one stage - Where was he when we needed an extra man to put a shift in and lead by example. He's burning a hole in the clubs finances. I'd keep Zog over him.
  12. Mind, it's not just Villa. Look who else goes down with us in his jaundiced view of the footballing elite: And look where QPR and Sunderland end up! 29 points to stay up - if only
  13. and in turn Wigan fans must be more nervous than them which is some consolation
  14. OOH-AAHH, OO-TO-BE, OO-TO-BE-A-GOON-AH for the first time ever I'm gonna be singing with my Arsenal-supporting missus tonight. Come on the Arsenal!
  15. Christian Benteke plays this year admirably at Aston Villa. Modest as he is, he does not claim. Merit that all by yourself He thanked Wilmots, Lambert and ... English fans. "They are very different than in Belgium." Red Devil Christian Benteke had a stunning debut season at Aston Villa. He scored eighteen times and dreams of participating in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. "A World Cup experience should be great," said Benteke to Menzo. "You get the chance to fight the best in the world and it is also followed worldwide. For young footballers that important moments. It happens quite often after a European Championship or World Cup young talent a top transfer can decorate by good performance. " Wilmots' merit The atmosphere is perfectly for the Red Devils. That is largely the merit of a man finds Benteke: "You just see that we are an enthusiastic group. If we score a goal, everyone jumps up sitting on the couch. We are such a good group is largely the merit of Marc Wilmots. He is an example for all of us and a great motivator that everyone can take. "On edge That Benteke still a lot of margin progression, he knows only too well. "I would not hesitate to get some extra muscle can bijkweken, but then I could lose my mobility," he says. "In my head is at the moment extremely well. The confidence I get, ensures that I can play. Liberating The more credit you get, the more you dare on the field. But everywhere I've still some margin progression. The important thing is that I can fight. "As many top matches and play good defense Better luck next time Benteke has greatly enjoying himself in the Premier League. That it is all right with his confidence, has to do with the attitude of the English supporters' fans in England are more positive than those in Belgium. The best example of this is after our 8-0 defeat against Chelsea, when our fans still applauded and comforting words statements such as "Better luck next time '. In Belgium they have more the idea that everything has to be because we are professional footballers, but we also make mistakes. "Perfect The full interview can be found in the Menzo (edition May-June), which is in stores starting this week.
  16. That was my favourite! Everyone was ripping pieces of the Holte End out. I've still got a plaque I ripped from the wall in the corridors. And we can back with 2 second half goals to beat Liverpool. Aston station was awash with fans carrying all sorts of debris with them. Marvellous
  17. The defending in MLS looks even worse than the Villa's! I remember seeing a compilation like this of Delph playing for Leeds before he was signed and he looked awsome.
  18. Here is an interview with him: I can't speak French but he makes more sense than Gabby.
  19. Here is an interview with him: I can't speak french but he makes more sense than Gabby. He'll get along with Nzog and Bentekkers
  20. From Three in One: Currently sat in 15th place in the French Ligue 2 are Clermont Foot. Within this seemingly mundane football club is a player whose stock is on the rise! Yacouba Sylla (22) is a defensive midfielder who has alerted scouts across the footballing world by forcing his way into the starting XI at Clermont, and earning an international Under 21 cap for France. Two London clubs, Fulham and QPR, are vying for the signature of the rising French star, however they also face competition from Udinese and Stuttgart, writes the Daily Mail. As we move closer to the January transfer window, scouts will be working overtime to try and find players that offer the best value and act as a catalyst for change in the second half of the season. With Sylla’s £1.5 million asking price, Harry Redknapp’s QPR are wealthy enough to fritter their money on a player like Sylla, who has no experience in a Premiership division in any country. With an array of clubs looking at Sylla, he seems to be a promising talent after only making his way into fully professional football last season for the French side. If this deal were to go through he could be a valuable squad player for either of the clubs from the capital who could both use some defensive cover from midfield. However, he also has the potential to disappoint considering his lack of experience in top flight football. Only time will tell if Sylla turns out to be a diamond in the rough or a nugget of fools gold." http://threeandin.com/2012/12/20/yacouba-sylla-could-be-premier-league-bound/

  22. About time someone on here pipes up with a bit of fighting talk. If we stay up I'd prefer to be one of those fans that stayed positive to the end and believed we could do it. As Villa fans we're labled as 'fickle' with delusions of granduer. I bet fans of other teams are really pleased we've finally got a dose of something to really complain about. I'd love to shove it up em and show em we can stay up and get behind the team when they really need us.
  23. It was Goldman Sachs Lets have a reality check here on transfers. In all probablity, Vlaar and Dunne will be back playing as a partnership in 2 weeks. Once that happens, the defence will be fine. We don't need to panic and buy a CD unless he was in Lamberts plans anyway, even before the injuries to VLaar and Dunne. We won';t necessarily get relegated if lose against Southamptom. Its just another game, ok its a 6 pointer, but we have loads of games left to pick up enough points to get to 40. Lambert knows what he is doing with transfers. He knows Vlaar and Dunne will be back soon. His comment for the BBC about paying loads for players you don;t necessarily want at the end of the season is spot on. Can you imagine what we could have done with the £25 mil spunked on Bent if Houllier hadn't paniced? I think Lambert will be concentrating on targets he identified months ago, and we nor any Twitter ITK will have any idea about them.
  24. Loving this season. I get excited by the amount of effort the players put in. It compensates for the lack of skill compared to previous seasons. I'd be happy with bottom half whilst being mathematically safe within 4 weeks of the end of the season. I'm not expecting Benteke to set the Prem alight with natural finishing but think he'll turn out to be a useful physical presence up there. I'm sure Lambert will train him to link up play and hold the ball up better. Despite being at fault for the goal, I'm excited by Vlaar. What I'm trying to say is, I'm excited.
