  1. A lot of MLS pitches are bad too. One of the things about the league that drives me up a wall is how many teams play on artificial grass. Cheapens the game, imo.
  2. He's a grifter. Got his payday and now he's on vacation til the next one.
  3. In tonight's lineup for Jamaica. Just hoping he gets through 90.
  4. He wasn't playing well before the serious injury, but he was only 22 and showing signs that he was becoming a little more comfortable in the Premier League, so we shouldn't pretend the injury hasn't had an impact on how he's performed since. He scored 24 goals and had 10 assists at Brugge the previous two seasons. There was something there. All that said, at times I felt he was a CB playing striker.
  5. Yeah, he was only able to get one shot in 74 minutes against Inter, but he made it count. He works hard off the ball, which I appreciate, but even the goal he scored against Inter was the result of his marker thinking he was offside. And the tattoos are definitely ridiculous.
  6. Having seen a lot of Gianlucca Scamacca, he had a great season, but everything about him screams one-hit wonder to me. Made a killing against the bottom of the league. He had 3 goals in 12 matches against the top 6 teams and 13 goals in 24 matches against everyone else.
  7. Is the Champions League a high enough level for you? Because in eight matches against Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Liverpool he scored six goals. I'm not spending £100 million on him, either, but he's a very good player already and likely to get better. He's big, strong, fast and intelligent.
  8. I'm not sure about the rules about posting links, but The Guardian says it's been agreed to and Ekitikie is expected to sign a 5-year deal soon.
  9. Yeah, but Reims accepted an offer from Newcastle for him yesterday.
  10. I remember when Buvac left Liverpool and it was the end of Klopp.
  11. This is a Venn diagram of VillaTalk posters who think Steven Gerrard is a terrible manager who didn't do well enough and VillaTalk posters who think we're doomed because the person who was in charge of tactics and training for the team that's been terrible under Steven Gerrard is leaving.
  12. We're all worried about the size of the kits. If only we spent as much time worrying about the size of our bodies.
  13. Neither is John McGinn. He's not world-class, but I think too many people on here had too high of an expectation for him because of how he performed when he first got here, and now that he's turned out to be merely above average instead of world-class, you all pretend he's shit.
  14. Andy Robertson was shit too, think Liverpool needs to move on? Or is it possible that they're all exhausted?
  15. What if we install a driving range at Bodymoor?
  16. Beale's gone. Fold the club. Shutter Villa Park. It's all done.
  17. No idea. I just know that we're better off having two centerbacks who can move the ball. I don't think either are going to be Antonio Rudiger out there, but it's an improvement having two players who are at least capable. Ezri often looks like the idea of passing forward gives him vertigo.
  18. Posting due to the separate discussions on Ings and Richarlison. According to FBRef, here are the closest comparable strikers to Danny Ings in the Premier League this year.
  19. Roughly 85% of his passes last season were with his right foot.
  20. He does excel at switching play. What I think you're missing while looking is that what makes him a good partner is that he's similar to Tyrone in that he can pass the ball as well. Ezri cannot. This requires Villa to build through Tyrone and the left side almost exclusively. No Premier League team progressed from the left more frequently than we did last season. By putting Diego on the right, there's another option. You don't have to go exclusively through the left anymore, making the build-up more dynamic, and more unpredictable.
