  1. To each their own and all that, but Bremer is better than Botman in my opinion.
  2. If we're looking for a RCB who feels comfortable with the ball, or we're just desperate to buy somebody from Torino that isn't Andrea Belotti, this is the guy we should go after. Gleison Bremer.
  3. I'm still skeptical about Gerrard, as he wasn't my top choice to replace Smith when we made the move. I have no idea how this will work out or what's going to happen this summer. But what I do know is this: We sold our best player before the start of the season. We then replaced our manager early in the season. How many Premier League clubs in the history of this league have sold their best player before a season, changed managers during the season, and then improved their position in the table? I can't imagine it happens too often.
  4. No, because helping Liverpool win a title means we've picked three points and possibly climbed two spots in the table.
  5. No thanks on Belotti. I follow Serie A and the Italian national team closely. He's an older, slower, less efficient version of what we already have. Had one outstanding season five years ago and over 30% of his goals since have come on penalties.
  6. Fair enough, but there weren't exactly a lot of teams banging on Barcelona's door offering to buy and then pay him more than we were.
  7. I'm a firm believer in the pull factor of money over manager myself.
  8. Which probably only makes McGinn want to kick him harder.
  9. I wanted Forest to win because it'd be more interesting to have them back in the Premier League, but felt awful for Conor. Wanted him to score and the rest to miss.
  10. There are disappointments from every league, even the Premier League. As for Sancho, let's not blame the Bundesliga. That's on Man United for buying players because people know the names and then not having any plan what to do with them. He's hardly the only young player they've bought who gets stuck in the mud once there. The entire team is full of them.
  11. Fair enough points, but Ligue 1 isn't the Premier League. The top of the league is fine, but the bottom 75% is lower level.
  12. I don't understand why so many here are high on him, and I wonder if it's nothing more than just not seeing him play enough to not like him! But since coming to Villa he has played 650 minutes in the Premier League and has not managed a single shot on target. He's averaged 0.97 shot creating actions per 90 over two seasons and 0.76 this season. That's basically the same output to the attack Tyrone Mings has had. Defensively, he's offered little.
  13. A comparison of Lacroix's passing to Konsa's, who I assume he'd be a replacement for. Overall, Ezri has a higher completion rate, but as you can see in the graphics, Lacroix attempts far more. The numbers show that Lacroix is more comfortable using his left foot as well, though he's still predominantly right. Whereas I sometimes wonder if Konsa is at war with his left foot.
  14. Everything else aside, I just don't know how much sense it would make to pay Suarez the wages he'd command to have him play 15-30 minutes per match, and maybe get a hat trick against Wycombe in an early round cup draw.
  15. One thing about defenders from the Bundesliga, they tend to be good with the ball because of how many teams in that league press high. I haven't seen much of Lacroix at all, but his numbers suggest he's a good distributor of the ball, and if he's able to deal with pressing forwards, he's a huge improvement over who we have back there now.
  16. I'm a Napoli fan, and I think that while their numbers during Osimhen's one season at Lille were similar, Osimhen's the better scorer. He's more aggressive too. The difference is David does a better job of staying healthy.
  17. I don't know. I feel like Sanson receiving the same treatment from two managers says a lot more about Sanson than anybody else. There's clearly something neither appreciates.
  18. UEFA rankings aren't predictive. They're reactive. I'm using predictive rankings like sportsbooks do.
  19. When it comes to things won and Champions League, Villa can't compete with Atletico. However, from a strictly team strength level, the gap between them and Villa isn't nearly as significant as it is between Villa and West Brom. Atletico would be favored for sure, but roughly the same as we'd be favored over a bottom tier Premier League team. Or, to think of it another way, if Atletico were in the Premier League, they'd finish in a Europa League spot far more often than a Champions League spot.
  20. That's fine. Let's get de Paul in here, then get Messi and Angel Di Maria on a free. Roll out the Argentina national team every week.
  21. Very different players. No idea how he'll adapt to the Premier League but his style of play is far more in line with your Fabinhos and Sergio Busquets than Sanson. To be clear, I'm not saying he's nearly as good as either of them, just that they fill the same role and profile.
  22. Not to mention he might want to play football instead of whatever it is Atletico play.
  23. I think he's a more effective player for a counter-attacking style. He'd be a great long-term idea at Spurs if Conte sticks around. Given what Gerrard has said about how he wants us playing, I don't know that he's a sensible fit.
  24. I think if Firmino leaves Liverpool he'll end up in Spain or Italy. He's run so damned much in his career that he's reaching the point where his legs just can't match the demand anymore, so a more leisurely cruise through La Liga or Serie A seems a soft landing for him.
  25. For sure. But now I feel the need to point out that Phil Jackson and the triangle offense never won anything without Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Kobe Bryant or Shaq on the roster. It wasn't the offense, it was coaching four of the greatest players of all time during the primes of their respective careers.
