    To be fair, "positions" are fairly meaningless in City's system. He's a "left back" because traditionally, we need to label players as such. In use, he's more of a left-sided midfielder.

    Feel like I'm the only American soccer fan in existence not to think he's anything special. Limited range as a passer, and doesn't offer a whole lot else. Could live with him as a squad option, but wouldn't want him as somebody we rely on weekly.

    I'm not saying he's wrong, but he doesn't have to say it, either. He's trying to save face with the club's supporters, which is understandable. He could've simply said "Diego made the decision he felt best for him, and we respect it and wish him well."

    No, it means he overperformed expectations based on the chances he had the last two seasons, and this year he performed to what was expected of the chances he got. Yes, it would help if he had more chances, but 25 goals on 16.7 xG is a wild overperformance that very few players in the world can maintain, if any.

    Let's look at this logically. Gabriel Jesus has won trophies at Man City and has played for the Champions League. Now he's looking to leave because his place in the team is unsettled with Haaland coming in. He had long been connected to Arsenal until Arsenal missed out on the top four. He's been connected to Real Madrid, etc. And we're supposed to believe he's going to choose Aston Villa to compete for a spot in the Europa League? I know we're desperate for something tangible but let's try to use our brains, lads.
