  1. This is the precise reason I'd love to go for somebody like Edinson Cavani. There are few players in the world who do it better than he does, both getting himself in position to score, and opening space for teammates to do so.
  2. I'd be thrilled, but I don't think it's realistic. Wouldn't be shocked if we get Calvert-Lewin, however.
  3. Leverage works both ways. Even if there isn't another team willing to pay 20m for Davis, is there another player Forrest can get for less than 20m?
  4. It's even more skewed when you consider how infrequently he plays, and the teams he's usually playing against. It doesn't mean he's a bad player, and it's no knock on him that Bayern has better options as it's a squad full of world class players, but how little they use him does tell you something.
  5. And I hope he's there the rest of his career. Phenomenal player.
  6. To be fair, nobody knows me better than I do.
  7. You are correct. I'm an idiot. Forgive me. de Vrij makes a lot more sense.
  8. So many lowball prices being proposed. I don't know if you remember what happened last summer, but the going rate on Villa academy products who lead their clubs to the Premier League is £100 million.
  9. I don't know how many put in a bid last summer, but if Nottingham comes up, I think he fits with the way they play, so let's all hype up how important he was to us staying in the Premier League and drive up the price.
  10. Well, if he's ever going to leave Napoli, I'd want him at Villa. The problem is that Napoli will be playing in the Champions League next year so they have the more immediate need for him.
  11. As a Napoli supporter, leave Koulibaly alone.
  12. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to give the impression that he doesn't work defensively. I was strictly speaking as a goal scorer. He's not a tap in merchant, but he's also not somebody who is trying to create for others. Generally, when the ball is at his feet, it's going to result in a shot or loss of possession.
  13. I think he's waiting on Barcelona as that's his preferred destination. If Barcelona offers, he's theirs. If not, he's ours.
  14. I watch as much Serie A as I do the Premier League. He's still Tammy for the most part. He's a poacher first and foremost who makes his living in front of the goal, but doesn't offer a whole lot elsewhere. Between Serie A and the Conference League he scored 26 goals on 27.04 xG. In Serie A it was 17 on 19.15 and in the Conference League it was 9 on 7.89. Here's his shot chart.
  15. Good, Tammy should stay in Italy. He'll thrive there for a long time.
  16. While he never had a season like the one he had here with Leverkusen, he only played 60% of the possible minutes in the Bundesliga in the four seasons from 2017-18 to 2020-21. Considering he started most matches he played, this suggests he's never been seen as somebody you can rely on for 90 minutes on a weekly basis.
  17. No idea if it will work, or what role he'll play (I'm thinking supersub and occassional starter is most likely), Suarez has consistently outperformed his xG over the years, which is what the world class strikers do. It's also what we've sorely lacked since returning to the Premier League. Having somebody who takes advantage of his chances and then some could be worth six to seven points over the course of a full season, and those points could be the difference between 10th place and Europe. All that said, I completely understand the reservations many of us have. They're all justified.
  18. Not to mention, Italian papers aren't exactly concerned with reporting the truth.
  19. He has plenty of talent. My fear is he isn't tough enough. Any slight injury and he's out a month.
  20. Tottenham are going to sign 33-year old Ivan Perisic. It's like they aren't even concerned about his resale value!
  21. I think Zinchenko will be leaving for Arsenal, so he becomes their backup LB.
  22. So many of you aren't looking at the bigger picture. First you get Suarez, then Messi follows.
