  1. Must win from my perspective. A draw isnt good enough, a loss and gerrard shouldnt even bother giving his post match presser. This coaching staff has had plenty of time to come up with a good style of play to get the best out of our excellent players. No excuses, we need to see good wins and see them now.
  2. Re the Russian mobilization. I watched an interview with a Ukraine frontline soldier about it on DW news (paraphrasing) he said "modern wars dont work that way, mass numbers of raw infantry mean little. My machine gun can kill hundreds of badly trained Russian soldiers in an hour" Also various western pundits have been saying the conscripts are just another burden for the Russian military. You have to feed , supply and transport these troops. Otherwise they will just melt away when they have their first contact. I know nothing about military matters but it sounds plausible to me.
  3. https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/04/politics/white-house-lobby-opec-oil-production-cuts-gasoline-prices-midterms/index.html Worth noting. We in the west are learning a lot about who our friends are. Next time Kuwait or Saudi Arabia are invaded, say by someone like Iraq or Iran they will find the phone isnt getting picked up our end.
  4. Yeah possibly my expectations were too high. But for a club that talked Europe and top half getting 7 points from 5 games against relegation fodder is poor.
  5. Yup this start of the season is the easy run in and we have failed to take the points we should of. Best case we are playing catch up the rest of the season. Worst case we will be dragged into a relegation scrap. Either way the season looks to be another wasted one all because our manager doesnt know his own style of play and we now have wait for Critchley to bed in. From talk of top 7 and Europe to a "work in progress" in less than 2 months. Its ridiculous.
  6. I dont blame the players at all. Good coaches give good players the tools they need for in game situations. We dont do that. Too often our players are left to rely on a moment of genius to make anything happen. I know its an obvious comparison but look at Pep. He knows EXACTLY where all of his players should be at a given stage of play and is constantly giving them instructions to help them win. Ours just throw their hands up in the air when the plan they gave the players at kick off isnt working.
  7. Its depressing. I think most podcasters are simply reflecting how we all feel. Here we are a new season after spending a lot of money, with some incredible players. Yet we have gone backwards on the football pitch with no sign of any progression at all. Feels like a wasted year.
  8. Must be nice to be excited about your clubs champions league game.
  9. Thats fair and well put. Good point. He had good reason. But enough revenge already. I dont want to denigrate the mans achievements either. I mean humanity is definitely a net better off because of his leadership of his companies. There is no denying it. I just wish he wasnt such an ass about it tbh.
  10. I meant unfit ethically and (imho) legally. I am sure you know this stuff but for UK residents. Public company CEO's in the USA (and officers of public companies of which I have been one) are heavily regulated after the 2008 crisis. We cannot make ad hoc forward looking statements that influence the stock price for example. Something Elon Musk does yearly and then attacks the SEC when it applies the rules to him that apply to every other public company CEO. Government contractors in the USA are regulated in the political activities they can partake in for obvious reasons. They are not meant to be partisan companies that are receiving everyone's tax dollars cannot be out there insulting half of its funders , customers or political opponents . They cannot make political contributions for example. https://www.fec.gov/help-candidates-and-committees/federal-government-contractors/ Elon Musk bends or breaks these regulations in different ways. And for what? So he can shoot his mouth off on the issue of the day? His first duty is to the shareholders of his companies. he betrays that duty everyday with his behaviour. So thats what I meant by unfit. He has been successful no doubt, in large part with the aid of US state and federal tax dollars. But he is not an ethical businessman and has no business being a public company CEO or Federal Government contractor. A CEO or government contractor who acts against his shareholders & customers interests? Thats unforgivable.
  11. Just more Brexit created bureaucracy. My business is GDPR compliant world wide (because EU law is the standard). We will continue to use GDPR. The Tories can have whatever extra red tape it wants, international tech companies will just ignore it (or stop selling into the UK if pushed). Good luck trying to enforce the latest "its like the EU but worse and more complex" rules the tories are throwing at the wall.
  12. Yup. He treats every tragedy as an opportunity for him to give his uneducated opinion and to personally attack the heroes who are trying to solve the problem. See Thai cave diver, health officials here in Alameda county, any climate change , women's rights, pro democracy activists. Awful man whose investors should kick him upstairs as chairman of the board and hire ethical CEOs to take over the running of the businesses.
  13. To be fair to Bruce his other more expensive striker was passed out drunk in a bush all the time so I have compassion.
  14. Elon Musk is a right wing fascist and has been for years. He is unfit to be CEO of a public company and unfit to be a US government contractor. Hopefully his latest comments persuade even more people to avoid buying products and services from companies he is associated with.
  15. Steve Bruce played ugly pragmatic football and was rightly sacked at the end. But at least Bruce was doing it by design. He also played his best players.
  16. I think Villa fans have been pretty reasonable. I have been in then out then game by game now back to out again. I just dont see progress on the pitch and he has had long enough. Its nothing personal. Gerrard seems an intelligent enough chap and has been respectful enough to the club. I just think he is too inexperienced for this club at this time.
  17. I wonder if ten hag would be a good fit here? On one hand he has a track record of being tactically astute, on the other he sure spends a lot of time telling Manu Fans things are "unacceptable" but then goes on to accept them game in game out.
  18. Its not like Ashley Preece's question was unreasonable or particularly aggressive. Would have been easy to answer but once again Gerrard makes a "thing" out of something that didnt need to be a thing. Yes Ashley is questioning your judgement, thats his bloody job. He doesnt get paid 6M quid to do it either.
  19. Stevie Nicol "Some people say its hard to play against ten men, I think thats a bunch of nonsense." Yup.
  20. What was the point in keeping him? If he was treated like this by a loan club we would rightly be outraged. Completely mismanaged this player. I hope Gerrard doesnt ruin him.
  21. I think its very good our fans stay behind him and team during the games. Look at it this way, it takes away an excuse for Gerrard. Right now there is nowhere to look except firmly on him. Supported by the fans, owners and players. He has no excuses and nobody to blame but himself when the axe falls.
  22. For sure, Poch is a very good manager and I would be delighted to see him here. But Zidane is not only one of the greatest managers of all time he was also one of the best players of all time and it seems to me the owners or Purslow love a bit of star power.
  23. I am back to having one foot in the "out" camp. This is going nowhere. Time for the owners to invest in a proven top coach. We have invested in top players , top facilities and we are in a top league. Its obvious whats missing. Gerrard has had nearly a year, we are simply not progressing. We cant afford to have gerrard learn the job here on our time & money. As gerrard himself said "we need someone who is ready now." Poch would be great but the owners like a star as well, so I hope we at least try for Zidane.
  24. His press conferences are just starting to annoy me. If you didnt like how Watkins played then why didnt you sub him ffs? On the plus side our midfield wasnt awful.
