  1. Summary from beeb ----------------- https://www.bbc.com/news/live/uk-politics-63309400 What on earth has been going on in Westminster today? If you're just joining us, Westminster has seen one of its most dramatic days in recent years. The day kicked off with Liz Truss facing Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer at PMQs. Our political editor Chris Mason thought it "probably went as well" as she could have hoped. But the chaos of the day was just beginning... News broke that one of Truss' top advisers, Jason Stein, had been suspended amid reports that he was responsible for negative briefings against former Chancellor Sajid Javid. Meanwhile, Tory MPs were told a vote on fracking due to be held within hours would be a confidence vote in the government, meaning they could be suspended from the parliamentary party if they voted for it. Three Tory MPs quickly announced their intention to oppose the government. But attention was quickly diverted back to Downing Street as Home Secretary Suella Braverman resigned, saying she had breached the ministerial code. She used her resignation letter to attack the government's "broken promises". Braverman was soon replaced by former transport secretary and Rishi Sunak ally Grant Shapps. By now chaos had broken out in Parliament, after ministers appeared to row back on making the fracking motion a vote of confidence in the PM. According to MPs who witnessed the scenes, Conservative MPs were bullied and manhandled into backing Liz Truss. Ministers denied claims physical force had been used. At the same time, reports emerged that both the government's Chief Whip, Wendy Morton, and the Deputy Chief Whip Craig Whittaker, were no longer in post. As of now, their positions remain unclear but we're trying to get clarity on this. -------------------
  2. Not optimistic but UTV. I always want us to win.
  3. I genuinely wonder if there is a clause in Gerrards contract about being in the relegation zone after X matches = less compo. It woudl explain some things.
  4. Its Poch or Tuchel then. Good news! Seriously i would also be delighted with Emery. I would be very underwhelmed with Frank.
  5. Good questions. My answers "Have they been successful?" Overall yes I think so. I regard his first priority to keep us in the premier league. We are in the premier league and while our trajectory has not always been upward Purslow has acted when he believed that we were not making sufficient progress. He would likely argue thats why he sacked Suso and Smith and will presumably sack Gerrard and Lange if he feels they are not making sufficient progress either. "has recruitment gone well" For players its an unqualified yes for me. I like our players and I believe (and have seen) these players consistently perform far better under different coaches. I think we are very fortunate to have such an excellent squad I couldnt name you a player I would worry when I saw his name on the team sheet. The entire squad is very good. They have simply been mismanaged. "what is the current transfer policy exactly" I think its changed. Before Jack left it was to value buy with good sell on potential. value buy because FFP limited our ability to spend big everywhere. and we had a full squad to relace. After the Jack windfall they changed to immediately improving the squad with higher quality or more expensive players. I think Gerrard helped them buy materially adding to bringing in our summer signings and Phil. Everyone is unlucky that our other two star signings got long term injuries but Coutinho is injury free. I expect him and a lot of other players to flourish under the next (presumably better) coaching setup. Anyway thats what I think. Just my impression listening to Purslow and seeing his actions over the years
  6. according to Wikipedia it was basically "job done" --------------------------- Purslow was appointed managing director of Liverpool Football Club in June 2009, with a priority to renegotiate the £350m loan the club had outstanding with RBS and to assume overall management of the club until a new permanent CEO could be appointed.[5][6] Three months into his tenure, a team headed by Purslow negotiated an £80 million 4-year shirt sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered Bank.[7] On 6 October 2010, Purslow voted in favour of the sale of the club from the unpopular then-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett to the NESV group. In response to this, Hicks tried to block the sale by removing Purslow and Ian Ayre from the board and installing his son, Mack, and his business associate Lori McCutcheon to the board. On 13 October 2010, at a hearing in the High Court in London, Mr Justice Floyd held that Hicks’ actions were unlawful and in breach of the agreement he had signed with RBS.[8] Floyd's judgment allowed the sale to proceed and, on 15 October 2010, NESV finally completed its £300m takeover of Liverpool in a deal which drastically reduced the club's debt to RBS.[9] Having completed his brief by finding a buyer, Purslow stepped down on 20 October 2010 after NESV assumed control of the club.[10] He remained as a non-executive director and special adviser until February 2011.[11] Following the sale, Hicks and Gillett pursued legal action, however, a settlement was reached in January 2013 with Hicks and Gillett withdrawing all allegations made against Purslow and fellow directors Broughton and Ayre.[12] ------------------------------------------
  7. The shares were allotted Sept 21st 2022. 5 days after the 1-0 win against Southampton. I have no conclusion, just noting the date.
  8. Speaking of accents I really came to dislike Lambert as manager but it always bothered me when his accent was attacked. Just not cool to mock the way someone talks, there is plenty to criticise on the pitch.
  9. Bloody hell, dragging it out for another game then? Unless there is a contract clause we pay less compo if we are past 10 games and in the relegation zone then Purslow is really messing this up royally. Just get the inevitable done and get in an interim manager.
  10. Tommy Jordan can go with Gerrard as far as I am concerned.
  11. Could be. The tap was definitely turned OFF after our first game maybe it became clear Gerrard didnt actually know how to use the top players that had been bought for him.
  12. In this matter I have decided to suspend my traditional scepticism of what the Telegraph writes and instead I choose to believe its true. All of it.
  13. First good thing I have read today. Poch, you know you want to!
  14. I would be happy with that. He has a 55% win rate in the premier league over 18 months. Thats good enough for me.
  15. I didnt bother watching the game. Not gonna get up early to watch Gerrard ruining our players and taking us into relegation. Grateful to other fans who have posted how it went. Thanks for taking the time to share.
  16. I just want to enjoy watching Villa again. Gerrard hasnt worked, its done. The experiment is over.
  17. That was our relegation season is why its put that way. In other words this is our worst PL start since the last time we were relegated.
  18. Villa fans have been remarkably supportive of Gerrard. I will have none of this nonsense any group of fans were against him and made his job harder, simply not true. Even those who thought he was not good enough from the start gave him a fair shot. He was backed by the fans, the CEO, the board, the players, his staff and the media. He just blew it plain and simple.
  19. Even if there is no passion, nobody is rich enough to ignore an investment losing value that you have invested hundreds of millions into.
  20. I simply cannot believe the owners think the spectacle of Gerrard taking millions of their money and burning it in front of their eyes every month is acceptable.
  21. Do your job Purslow. Your gerrard experiment was a failure , fix it now.
  22. How is this farce still happening? Just give him his pay off thats all he is waiting for. No more gambles on vanity projects. These players deserve a premier league level manager,
