  1. Damn, Lol. Coutinho is much the better player. It's not even close. Buendia works hard, that's the only thing he has over Phil.
  2. Not sure we can simply replace the likes of Ings and Watkins. These are multimillion pound signings on huge wages - Ings especially. We are not in a place financially where we can just replace players without them leaving first. Nobody is taking Ings off our hands and unless Watkins finds some consistency, he won't have that many suitors for the price we'd want. The only place in the squad I think we could look to add to, without somebody leaving first, is the wide forward position. Bailey is the only genuine winger at the club. I think we'll see this position strengthened in Jan, but that will be your lot. We need a huge clearout in the Summer I'm afraid.
  3. A fluid front 4 of Watkins, Bailey, Coutinho and Ramsey can give any defence in the league a headache.
  4. A very good way of putting things actually.
  5. There is a pattern, he tends to sign players he’s signed before. I believe he’s signed Lo Celso twice - a player I would like us to be looking at.
  6. I think Irroegbunam and Ramsey should go back out on loan again next season. It won’t hurt their development at all as they’re still so young. No need to rush them back here only to make the bench some game weeks.
  7. That first sentence just couldn’t be any more ludicrous could it? What on earth was Gerrard.
  8. Yeh, I doubt we’ll be dropping £50-70m on anyone anytime soon! Emery will know if any of the Villarreal players are up to the task in the PL but he’ll also have a very good knowledge of all the players in La Liga. There may be a player he admires that is now attainable but wasn’t at Villarreal, especially with the backing he’s going to get here. Im looking forward to the next couple of windows. Unfortunately it’s going to be about who we can shift as much as who we can bring in. We need to offload a LOT of players.
  9. There was no getting away from the fact that Konsa has been poor for about 12 months prior to the last 4/5 matches. He seems to have turned a corner. I still think Mings is the better defender but it will be interesting to see what happens when Carlos comes back. Personally, I think our defence is fine. Any transfer budget we have needs to be spent on the forward areas. Preferably wide players.
  10. Our squad is stacked. Not sure any transfer is worth it unless they’re coming in to start for us. Otherwise it’s just another player we can’t fit in the matchday squad.
  11. He is starting to play with real conviction. Like he knows he’s good enough to really impact games and dictate play. I think the ability has always been there, but I found it frustrating that games just seemed to pass him by. Right now, he looks as if he WANTS to be the best player on the pitch and wants to run the midfield. Im really surprised at how good he’s been at times. He’s really turning into a cracking player. Still so young too.
  12. I noticed this. So good to see. Brought a smile to my face. Sanson in particular was buzzing. I've noticed in a few training ground clips that they seem to walk out together. They're obviously close. I hope Sanson gets a run out in the cup this Thursday. I think him and Kamara could play really well together.
  13. Looks like he had a cracking game tbf. Would love him to play like this away from home too.
  14. You're right, and that's refreshing I suppose. I'm convinced if we can offer some more pace and power in attack, we'll have a much better side. Something like this after January: ---------------------------------Watkins-------------------------------------- Bailey------------------------Ramsey------------------------------New -------------------------Luiz----------------Kamara------------------------ That is a much faster, stronger team who can press the opposition with Luiz and Kamara being quality in possession behind the front 4. (Sorry, I know a lot rate Buendia on here).
  15. Can’t help shake that nagging feeling that this season has been an unnecessary waste. We really should have picked up 6-8 points more against the likes of Bournemouth, Fulham, Forest and Leeds. Not to mention we were very, very good against Chelsea for the most part. Hopefully Emery can get us fighting for a top 10 finish. I still think we’re short of a few players to do it but for the first time in however long, I really have faith in our manager.
  16. Does anybody know definitively who won the toss and chose what? I’d be very, very surprised if we decided to kick towards the Holte in the first half.
  17. He’s the kind of player you want coming on for the last 30 mins in an advanced position, hassling and harrying defenders and the oppositions deep lying midfielders. He’d be a nightmare to play against in that scenario I feel. I think he’ll probably be one we look to move on in the Summer as he’ll still fetch a decent price and Emery will want to bring in his own midfielders. I can actually see him, Sanson and Nakamba leaving potentially. Will be fondly remembered if he does leave.
  18. At this point it’s become a bit of a joke I think. There are some that rate him, but it’s just more that he just hasn’t had a look in after coming here with such a strong reputation. Personally, I’d love to see him come good, but the fact he hasn’t had a sniff since getting here probably means he isn’t cutting the mustard in training. Be interesting to see how Emery uses him.
  19. A wide forward would be nice in Jan. Unless we can shift a few, I imagine that would be the lot.
  20. He needs to be played in a position where he can run with the ball. He has an unerring ability to drive forward with the ball under close control and move us further up the pitch. He’s also worth a few goals each season too as he takes up good positions and isn’t afraid to make late runs into the box. As a 6/8 or wherever the f*** he was under Gerrard, he was wasted, now he’ll be played in a role that suits him more because the manager isn’t a cretin. He’s still got a ways to go but he’s developing into a very solid PL player. Hard not to really like Ramsey.
  21. He’s growing as a player. Luiz, Kamara and Ramsey should be the future for us in there, supplemented by a bit more quality over time.
  22. It’s fashionable to hate on Mings. I don’t know why, but you ask any fan of another club and they’ll tell you he’s shite. It’s all very odd. Look, he makes a mistake every now and again, but for the most part he’s f***** superb. I don’t think there are many better defenders in the PL than him on his day. If he didn’t make any mistakes, he’d be at a top club, without doubt, but right now, he’s our best defender and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
