  1. If anything Garde is less of a gamble considering the kind of squad we have. If anyone is likely to get the best out of our players, then it's someone who is from a similar background and knows what kind of players they are. The worry about someone with 'PL experience' is that they'll end up using all the cloggers in the squad whilst the potential of Amavi, Adama, Gil, Veretout and Gana get ignored.
  2. It doesn't help that there is actually a fairly visible Villa presence in the media that seem to have a totally different opinion to the fans. If your own come out with this bullshit, then the likes of Lawro are just going to latch onto it. Whenever I watch Danny Murphy, he seems to be one of the few who makes an effort to understand what's going on at Villa and he's never had any connection with us. Apart from that, there's nothing.
  3. Spectre was pretty good, it would be weird if it's Craig's last film the way they left it with the villain, but then continuity between films has always been a bit ropey for obvious reasons. The action scenes were probably the best I've seen in Bond and it was funny in places, the story tied up the previous few films together quite nicely. 7/10 I reckon.
  4. I'm not sure it's about compensation to Lyon, it's the fact they have a big Champions League match coming up. I suspect Garde will be appointed but won't take charge for Spurs, then the back room staff will come after midweek.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised if most of our summer signings speak decent English anyway. Certainly Ayew does, and Gestede must by now.
  6. There's far too much talk of people other than Remi Garde on this thread.
  7. Even worse, Australian rugby players. I had the misfortune to stay at the same hostel as a group of them once, they were amongst the lowest form of scum I've ever come across.
  8. Henry is said to get paid by Sky double what Sherwood got with us. He'd be insane to even contemplate becoming a manager or coach.
  9. We just need someone who will pick: Guzan; Hutton Richards Clark Amavi; Gana Westwood/Sanchez; Adama Gil Grealish; Ayew or thereabouts. Motivate them, don't call them losers, pick a balanced XI, don't pick Gestede or Gabby to start, play with pace, have a go at home, don't put two forwards on where you're 2-0 up away, don't waste money on Premier League 'experience' in January for the sake of it, hold your nerve with the young players, don't cry in interviews etc.
  10. Fox is running the club, if you want someone out then it has to be him. Lerner has lost too much money with and outside the club to donate £30m a year like he used to, so it's down to Fox to run the club in a sustainable way. Randy wants to sell, but can't, that's just the way it is.
  11. Also, compare the team's results without Benteke under Lambert and Sherwood and Lambert is the clear winner. I'd say ever since his Wycombe days, last season was his only real managerial failure if you take into consideration what he was expected to achieve. That's a decent CV in my book.
  12. I honestly believe that Sherwood was having that big a detriment to the team that we are better off with anyone else in charge. Even with a team full of cloggers tonight it seemed we had something resembling a system which we've been missing since the second half vs Leicester. Hopefully on Monday McDonald or even Garde/whoever will bring back Grealish, Gil and Ayew and put them in another system that makes sense and we will compete. I really had no faith that Tim could do that.
  13. Glad it sounds like we are giving a good account of ourselves. It's amazing just how the most basic of systems with a few average cloggers is an improvement on what we've put up with this season. Kev McDonald is a good man.
  14. That's one of my biggest pet hates. I get around 2-3 migraines a year and it pisses me off royally when someone says 'Oh i've got a migraine, i'll have a couple of tablets and just get on with it'. No, you've got a **** headache. If you have a proper migraine you wouldn't even be standing up. Exactly, migraines are **** vile. A couple of migralieve tablets and going to sleep is all I can do to cope, there's no way I could work with one. Another bloke from work had a couple of days off saying he had a migraine and there were pictures on Facebook of him paintballing, which really pissed me off because it makes a mockery of just how bad they are and creates a stigma about them, not to mention it is a wankery thing to skive work anyway.
  15. I guess he's trying to bring down as many people as he can. Surely all the bidding countries can sue FIFA for zillions now.
  16. I think he may have learnt how to pass a football at La Masia, they're generally quite successful at that. There are likely to be several reasons why he hasn't quite done it so far with us.
  17. At least in theory we have wide midfielders to cross the ball for Gestede.
  18. I've got a feeling in my bones today is the day
  19. It doesn't sound that bad a deal to me, depending on how many matches it is of course. If it's say 30, them you'd think he'd have had played close to his potential which I think is huge, plus stayed fit, and he'd be one of our best players. I doubt we'd be in the bottom 3 either.
  20. It was meant to be a joke as the lotto emblem makes it look like Noel has a little left hand, and there are famous conspiracies that Kurt didn't actually shoot his brains out, and it's difficult to use a shotgun on yourself with a little hand. I see it went down like a fart in a lift, so let's move on.
  21. there's no way Kurt could have used a shotgun with a left hand that small
  22. I reckon the Lords should be filled up proportionally based on the GE vote, then the parties appoint their own Lords preferably based on intelligence and expertise rather than how much they pay them. That way in theory every vote does count, yet you still keep the definitive result FPTP generally gives in the commons. As for whether it was a good thing they voted it down, I think it was just because it was a really bad, unfair policy and it needed to be done.
