Are we not looking at the next-generation of our players to be the 'next Grealish'? The likes of Barry, Chukwuemeka, Philogene-Bidace and others already in our Academy or PL 2 teams?

Yes they are similar. However Villa began to use the Scottish Lion and the motto 'Prepared' from our inception (circa 1874) it became more prominent when McGregor joined the club due to his Scottish roots. Allegedly he felt an affinity with Birmingham as there was a large Scottish community in the area. Rangers began to use the Lion around 1959, they also seemed to 'steal' the idea of 'Prepared' but changed it to 'Ready'.

I keep thinking Villa are due to give a team a good and heavy defeat. The way we played against Sheff Utd should have been a high-scoring win for Villa and first half against Wolves we were the better team and could have easily been a goal or two up at half-time. Take some early chances against he barcodes on Friday and we could put a few past them.

OK people may say Villa haven't a chance in signing certain players but we have to start trying as it is how we will get into the top six on a regular basis. In some respects you could argue we signed Arsenal's best player in Emiliano Martinez. Saint-Maximin is a good shout, as is Ward-Prowse. Both when fit would walk into our team.

Mings has been solid the last few games. Jamie Redknapp thinks he should be first-choice for England.

Good solid debut. Made a dazzling run down their left flank leaving a few players in his wake. I think he'll only get better and I hope he's not injured.

Traore was poor tonight but no doubt he's a better player when Cash is supporting him. It's a pity he didn't score against Sheff Utd as that was likely goal of the season.

I reckon best we can hope for is eighth. Before the season I would have been very happy with top ten. It's unfortunate things seem to be fizzling out. Our only hope is we can have Grealish and Cash back for the last six to eight games?

True, it's often perplexed me also. The effort from Watkins against the bar deserved a goal.

A little better in the first-half but disappeared in the second-half. Also guilty of giving the ball away which is par for the course with him. If we have any aspirations of being a top ten team or indeed challenging for Europe he needs replaced. He's lightweight.

I agree. For me Conor does seem a little less 'rabbit in the headlights' about him than McGinn. Personally I think both are poor PL players and that Championship is their level.

Our focus should be top ten now, as we are in such a good position it would be a shame to falter. Before the season top ten would have been magic but we were so close; what we needed was to win back-to-back matches regularly. This is something we have struggled with. I echo the point made before me Villa MUST spend £60-80 million this summer on two players. A midfield General, a replacement for McGinn who is quicker and stronger and then a replacement for Barkley. We need back-up for defense too which basically means understudies for Cash and Targett. Although the latter didn't exactly cover himself in glory against Sheff. Utd and looked lost without Grealish.

It's interesting; i certainly haven't seen much from McGinn this season. A couple of decent performances perhaps, one could argue we see a couple from Conor too in a Villa shirt. Against Sheff. Utd would Conor have given us more than McGinn, maybe who knows. I still don't really know what McGinn does apart from give the ball away and get out-muscled.
