  1. We are still a long way from where we should be financially. Even after Bents loan our 3 highest paid palyers are not in our squad!!! That amounts to lunancy by anyones standards!
  2. Kaka!!! Ha ha.......FFS! He's off to Milan apprently with Prince Boateng off to Schalke
  3. Strange link (the Liverpool one)! Very genuine guy, don't have a bad word to say about him. Am surprised he hasn't got a move by now. I actually though City or West Brom would make a move. City could do with someone to give Hart a rattle!
  4. Either of these players would make a good signing for a club like Villa. Wishful thinking methinks. I would imagine Holtby is a possibility. He can't be on huge wages and cost Spurs very little. Not sure how good he actually is but we could afford him.
  5. Townsend at Spurs will surely move on now. Would be a good signing for us.
  6. Conclusions: Okore could be a great player. KEA can pick a pass, he deserves to keep his place. Delph can continue to improve. We will still struggle to create chances when our front 3 have to play in front of defences. However it does look like we can punish mistakes.
  7. Ki Sung-Yeung from Swansea would improve us. Hope that looks right to Lambert!!!
  8. Can't imagine Lambert will make a whole lot of changes. Maybe Tonev for Weimann and Sylla for Bacuna.
  9. I'd imagine it will be a loan if it happens. If he stays injury free he will get the chance to prove himself.
  10. Forgot to mention Clarke played well before his injury.
  11. I was too livid last night to do anything other than vote. The cheating ref is out of our control, I just hope he gets dropped after this and Ivanovic get a retrospective ban. As to our lads performance. It was excellent. Again every player on the pitch gave 100%. Vlaar had a much improved game and was solid. Westwood and El Amadi put in great shifts. Gabby showed again how dangerous he is, I can’t believe he is still only 26. He was top calss again. Delph was immense. Delighted for him. However I voted Benteke MOTM. This is purely because his performance last night was on another level. He has stepped up to the world class bracket. He is challenging for best Villa player in my life time add I’m not too young! His finishing, passing and hold up play last night was different class. What a player!
  12. Doesn't seem to eb any sign of a loan for him. Maybe this means he is pretty close to getting in the match squad. Hope he stays fit and fulfills his potential this year, be it at Villa or out on loan.
  13. Any update on Ben? He's wasn't in the u21 squad again last night. Is he injured? If not surely he should go out on loan?
  14. Will be a very interesting game. I presume he will rotate, so we could see Mata, Luiz, Lukaku and Schurrle come in. If we score first then we have very chance of beating them. They are not the quickest back 4 in the league so hitting them on the counter coudl really hurt them.
  15. The whole bomb squad strategy is a result of the circumstances the club has found itself in. With the exception of Hutton they have all had a chance under Lambert and for whatever reason (ability, attitude or wage) didn’t do enough to justify a place in his first team squad. I can understand Bent's complaint but he has been allowed to move on loan at a fraction of the cost we paid for him per season so he should appreciate that the club have taken a huge hit in allowing him to find first team football elsewhere. He should also note that getting paid his wage to train with the youth team is not the most “horrible” thing to happen anyone!
  16. Football is all about results and we got a great one Saturday. Defensively we can still be a worry. Vlaar had a poor game, made some bad decisions and was lucky to stay on the pitch. In that form he is not the man to marshall our back four. On the plus side Clarke had a good game. Luna could of being better at times but what a goal for a full back! Lowton was good. Delph, Westwood and KEA all gave 100%. Could not fault them really. Benteke was marked and didn't look as fast as he can be. Was still a collasssous and won everything in the air. brilliant player. Weimann had a good game. Will be a big season for him. Gabby or Brad for MOTM. Both were excellent. I think Gabby just shades it.
  17. For some reason, I read this as "Stephen Ireland could find a home loan at Everton!!" And the 2 things I thought were: 1. Why the hell does he need a home loan, he's a rich mofo. 2. I didn't realise Everton were in the home loan market. Ha Ha......obviously meant "on loan".
  18. It will do him no harm at all. Lambert wants them to experience the lower leagues in the hope that it will make them work even harder to make it here. Any game time will be valuable and being lightweight will not hinder him. I'd say he's simaliar in build to Will Grigg at Walsall who had a very decent season last year.
  19. Stephen Ireland could find a home on loan at Everton!!
  20. Burke, Carruthers and Grealish have all benn included in the Ireland u21 squad. Well done lads
  21. Because our defence was great with Dunne and Collins wasn't it? They were immense in the 09-10 season. I think we conceded something like 40 goals, if we could get any near that marker next season we'd be in great shape. We could do with someone as phisically imposing as either of them were. If Spurs are really goin to sell Steven Caulker we should make a bid.
  22. Where in my post did I ever question his work rate? Work ethic so, lets not split hairs!
  23. Looks like decent value to me. If Ince and Zaha are worth their reported fees then Shelvey is defo worth 5-6 million. He was fantastic during his loan spell at Blackpool 2 years ago. He managed to make a bigger impact at Liverpool than Nuri Sahin so this could turn out to a very shrewd move by Swansea. If we signed him I wouldn't have been complaining.
