  1. Liverpool have some really good players. Qusilry goal from them and they dominated until we scored. Great ball for our goal. Grealish on the left now and more involved. According to LFC TV Lambert went down to the bench to suggest that change!
  2. I really doubt we're paying Holt more than a few grand - he's hardly on huge money at Wigan Wigans highest paid player according to their Forum!!
  3. So we are loaning an out of form, over paid, Championship striker. We are bascially taking someone off Wigans bomb squad! This is pathetic. It will take weeks for him to get near the fitness level required for the Prem. And if he used it will so we can hoof the ball in his general direction! I have backed Lambert since he came here but this sort of crap is really testing my patience.
  4. Then I can only deduce you are not very old. I've seen worse , a lot worse. Well that can only be judged after he plays. All the same Richard, if you take our current form and our position in the table into account, then signing Grant Holt in his current form, on loan from a struggling championship club must be close to the bottom of the barrel in terms of our signings?
  5. No need to fear Arsenal. We can set up like its an away game. Hopefully repeat the opening day win!
  6. Will be interesting to see if he can kick on this season. He's a decent footballer but looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights so many times last season. That said he did show soem promise on rare occasions and can at elast pass the ball.
  7. Can't see how we'd possibly afford Ruiz....Isn't he Fulham’s record signing? Unless they agree to swap him for our record signing!
  8. Great news for Jordan. He looked good in his cameos at Ipswich. I'd expect him to be starting for Bradford.
  9. The last line in "the defence" on that article is so true. It’s the best article I read on Villa in a long time. It pretty much echoes the argument going on in my head. For what’s its worth the end sums it up for me and I think PL should be given the time to implement his plan. However Daniel Storey hits the nail on the head for me too in this paragraph "The sad conclusion is that Fabian Delph is the only player in Aston Villa's first team squad that has improved on last season. One or two and you could blame the troops, 10-15 and you question their leader. Surely the point of managing younger players is that you improve them? Without that, he has nothing, and standing still is rarely good enough."
  10. FOOTBALL 365 have the debate for us! http://www.football365.com/faves/9108140/Debate365
  11. Can you please point me to where anybody has claimed that we properly learned from our mistakes when O'Neill left? What I find most ridiculous is that Given is probably in the top 4/5. Is he the world's most expensive (in terms of wages) back-up keeper? I can't imagine there being a number 3 keeper anywhere in the world that earns more. Try QPR, fair play to Harry!
  12. We will need more than Hoolahan to sort out our home form. My original point was that he is not worth anything over £1million.
  13. I hope to see him in the squad now that he is back. Unless PL actually believes Bowery is a better player.
  14. That's not true. It's an even split for his Premier League season '11/'12. Similarly '09/'10 and '10/'11 in the lower leagues. Basically he used him all the time. Ok so he started just under two thirds of their games. I remember PL dropping him an optiing to play two target men instead, think it was Morrision and Holt. Cannot see what he would add to us in away games when we set up to counter attack.
  15. £3 or £4 million!!! FFS we are talking about Wes Hoolahan. If Lambert had £4million to spend on an attacking midfielder he wouldn’t be looking at Hoolahan. With £750,000 in the bank and looking for a quick fix, Hoolahan becomes an option. By the way PL usually only played him in home prem games when he was at Norwich.
  16. !!! No chance. He has been a flop at Porto. Worth the same as Stephen Ireland.
  17. I doubt we will spend big. So it’s up to Lambert to get the best value possible with the money. He can either continue taking punts on cheap promising players or take on punt on reviving experienced players. For example we would likley get Defour permanently and Eduardo Varga on loan for less than £3million. We would have 2 players with a lot of ability and experience but who would need a manger to get the best out of them. There are lots of options out there. Hollahan was an optiopn but this looks unlikely now.
  18. There’s no point in paying over the odds for players. Wes Hoolahan is not worth any more than £1million. He will have no resale vlaue. And Defour is worth nowhere near £6million! He is a bench warmer at Porto. £3million would be generous.
  19. He would only be an option for us in home games. Does not have the speed or physical attributes to offer us much in away games unless we plan on setting up differently. He is far from a world beater and has only had the 2 seasons in the Prem. He is a good honest player and an example that a player can continue to improve in his late 20's. Bannan could of learned alot from him as Barry has similar qualities. I can't see Lambert signing him though, unless he has lost faith in his scouting network.
  20. Because he wants first team football. He nearly joined Anderlecht in the summer so His wage demands are within our range. He has been a flop in Portugal especially since his injury and in fairness would represent a risk. If we want to sign him then a deal is possible.
  21. From the boards point of view the plan may well be working. If we survive in the Prem we will have one of the lowest wage bills. Mission accomplished!
