  1. Would love if we made a bid for M'Baye Niang. It seems Milan want to shift him.
  2. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2522014/Paul-Lambert-ready-raid-Dutch-market-Christian-Bentekes-lured-Aston-Villa.html Also says it's the same agent as Helenius...I can't believe if he's got any money he'd choose to purchase yet another striker in front of a central defender or midfielder. He's an intelligent man. F**kin Daily Mail.....so a Villa players agent was spotted at Villas training ground. Total non-story. All the same if Lambert and his scouts spotted a potentially great striker I’m sure they’d try to sign him regardless of how many we have. It would be worse to let him slip through the net.
  3. Neither is Gabby and lately neither of them have been occupying wide positions which is really hurting us. When we break the only obvious ball is long to Benteke because we don’t have options breaking on the wings. Ideally Lambert will point this out and tell them to take up the wide positions and track the full backs. Alternatively Albrighton should be given a chance. Just curious why would you drop Clark?
  4. I am pretty sure Grealish will get game time when he comes back. He is playing very well in a very poor team. He has also been outstanding for the Irish u-21s. This has not gone unnoticed.
  5. Have you seen the league table? We are level on points with the kings of possession and pass completion Swansea!
  6. Sidwell is rubbish, as is Beye We were shit on Sunday, but that doesnt make Sidwell or Beye any good Sidwell is average but would still walk into our midfield which sums it up really. In your opinion how many of Fulham’s players would walk straight into our team???? Kasami? Karagounis? Berbatov? Ruiz? Senderos? Taarabt? Parker? Pl must be doing a great job to have us overachiving in 11th?
  7. Could make the match day squad on Sunday with Delph out. Prob his best chance of game time in a long long time.
  8. To be fair to him, he was great for us. I cannot see any way back here for him or Milner due to wages. I wouldn’t take him on loan unless Utd paid us a substancial fee to rehabilitate him.
  9. I really doubt that’s the team. I expect the same 11 as last week unless there are new injury concern’s.
  10. NO THANKS. a pile of shit that isnt good enough for the Championship, id really question Lambert if we signed shit like him Ridiculous statement. He would get a start in our team at the moment and plenty of other Premier League teams too. However he is probably out of reach financially and if we did have that sort of budget we could probably get better for the money. no way. I would actually prefer Albrighton or Brett Holman on the wing than McGeady. absolute dreadful player with zero talent at all. Even Stephen Hunt was a better winger for Ireland If that is your genuine opinion then it’s pointless having a discussion with you. Just hope the club never appoint you as a scout.

  12. Defoe on loan is a possibility. He will want to stay in the Premier League to have any chance of making the world cup. IMO he would suit us perfectly as a loan signing.
  13. Some truly awful play by both sides today. Our passing was abysmal not for the first time. We have the 2nd lowest pass completion rate in the league. They were not much better. We gave the ball away on numerous occasions from dead balls which is shocking. Clark was great today. Out front three were not at the races. None of them look fully fit. Benteke is relying on scraps because the other two are not carrying the threat they did last year. Our midfield today looked clueless at times. In the end though we didn't lose which is a positive. Our defence has improved and if we can get the front three to click again things will get better.
  14. Awful performance, bar Clark all the out field players have been terrible. Could do with the pace of Albrighton in the 2nd half.
  15. Aiden McGeady has been trafser listed by Spartak Moscow. We will defintetly be linked in the media. Thing is he’s within our budget and would be an improvement on what we have so maybe it’s a possibility.
  16. Good moves all round. Chance for Shay to put himself in the shop window. Good chance for Stevens to show he can cut it at Champioship level. Great opportunity for Jordan Graham at Ipswich, delighted for him. Great chance for Benji to get first team football and show what he can do. Looking forward to see how they all progress.
  17. No doubting his class. The goals will come.
  18. Benteke was not at his best last night for Belgium. In fairness he should have had a penalty but Clattenburg waved it away and one of his shots could have amounted to a goal with a bit more luck. He will prob be rested for their next friendly. Hopefully he comes back to us fit and raring to go.
  19. I would like to see us make a move for Kevin DeBruyne and Jack Rodwell both on loan with an option to buy if possible.
  20. First point, he will gain experience of playing regular football, the build up, the mental state of playing for points that mean something. It will also help him grow as a player and ensure he is not one of those players who wants to play at this level when he's older. If Lambert didn't like him why did he use him in pre-season, why did he say the boy is talented at the fans forum but says needs experience. The lad is 18 years old, its better for him to be playing than bits of first team football. Bowery wasn't bought on as a winger against Cardiff he was bought on to play up front. Jack will come back more determined to make that step up from this experience IMO. We have seen with the Fonz, by bringing him in too early, the kid thought he had made it, not saying Jack will be the same but it happens. The way Carruthers has been built up to be some of midfield maestro, can't even get into the MK Dons side. Gabby was atrocious in his loan spells, but he came back more determined to put in all the effort to ensure he does not play at that level again. He is only on loan till Jan anyway, so he may be back and also may be a reason why PL is not looking at wingers as he has two in our youth set up who have the attributes to be really good i.e. Grealish and Graham. Carruthers was in the MK Dons team and playing well before he got injured.
  21. I think it’s still a bit early to judge Lambert. As far as I am concerned he should only be judged on what he does here at Villa and not constantly compare it to what’s happening at other clubs. Although this cannot be evaluated in a vacuum it is often pointless comparing Villa to other clubs. We do have the equivalent money, youth academies and esteem of other clubs and so should judge our manager on what he’s make of what we have got and how he improves it. Apart from Darren Bent, I do not think any player has gone backwards under his stewardship. Bent and the rest of the bomb squad should probably be removed from that analysis anyway due to being seen as surplus to requirements in part due to their salaries. Plenty of players have and are continuing to improve and he signed the only world class player we have had at this club since Yorke. At this juncture I am willing to allow him the time to continue to develop this set of players and hope that when Benteke inevitably moves PL will be given that money and more to try to continue to build this squad. There no doubt PLs favoured tactic is counter attacking. However he is clearly trying to find alternatives that the squad can handle. At this point his greatest achievement is building a proper team spirit and getting honest effort from our squad. Something that was not evident in the years preceding his appointment.
  22. Except before Lambert came along Guzan, Weimann and Baker didn't play and, under our previous two managers, Gabby and Delph were not playing well at all. You have to give credit where it's due, just because they were here prior to Lambert doesn't mean he hasn't done anything with them. You don't only judge a manager on the players he brings in. That being said, I'm not exactly Lambert's biggest fan. I think he makes tactical mistakes in games and he's missed opportunities to address problems we've had for a long time concerning buying players in certain positions. We've had a tough set of opening fixtures for the season though. I think we'll improve a little from here on in. In case people forget Lambert actually signed Guzan. The club had released him on a free.
  23. Through gritted teeth I have to admire the fact that he again played well for Scotland in a hugely impressive win over Croatia. Regardless of what people may think of him, he obviously is professional enough to keep himself at peak fitness and not resort to bitching about Villa to the press.
  24. He's 22 since April, I though he was 21, my bad
