  1. Wouldn’t be in any rush to move him on permanently just yet. A loan spell to a Championship club with guaranteed first team football would be a good opportunity for him.
  2. We've bid for Sergio Canales accroding to the Guardian blog. Definitely worth the risk. He wouldn’t cost too much and looked great last
  3. Agreed. Calum Chambers has started less than 20 club games and he's in the England squad! He’s obviously gona think he's made it now and might not kick on the way he would if he was still at Southampton trying to establish himself. Cleverly is a good example of this. At 22 he was playing for Utd and England but is probably only realising now that he hasn’t kicked on the way he should have.
  4. Seriously?? I don’t remember that at all. Think he cost £10 million and was our biggest signing in a fe years. We signed Sidwell the same summer and he in many ways is more comparable to Cleverly.
  5. Georginio Wijnaldum Did you ring up his club and ask how much they wanted for him or are you just basing this on how much you bought him for in Football Manager? No, just like the quoted Cleverly price I am basing it on what the experts on Dutch radio have been saying over the summer. I was surprised nobody bid for him and it looks like he will be in Eindhoven for another season. If we look at Players who have already moved clubs I’d say Siem De Jong was much better value. Again we are all basing this on the quoted £8million for Cleverly.
  6. Yeah, he has only played Iin CL, for England and won the Premier League. By that logic we should be bidding for Anderson. He’s a 26 year old Brazilian International who has won 2 Portuguese league Titles, 4 Premier League Titles and the Champions League. Would be cheaper than Cleverly too!
  7. £7million for Cleverly will never happen. He’s out of contract in the summer, even we aren’t foolish enough to splurge £7million on an unproven 25 year old who will be a free agent in year times!
  8. Looks a decent player. Obviously hard to gauge a player in the SPL but at his age he has huge first team experience and would be well worth the risk.
  9. I think it’s a turning point alright, just not a positive one. We signed Senderos, Joe Cole and Aly Cissokho! FFS we have also brought a few players back in to the squad that hate the managers’ guts. This is a recipe for disaster when inevitably we’ll end up in the midst of a relegation battle for much of the season. I hate being so negative but that’s just how I see it at the moment. I hope I’m wrong. I hope Lambert was being held back by his backroom team and that the hoof ball tactics are gone, that he will develop our young players and we will be the surprise package of the season. I’m leaving the negativity here by the way and as always I’ll be 100% behind the team. UTV
  10. Done Deal: Will be eligible for the game against Newcastle next Saturday.
  11. We aren't dealing with Liverpool though, we are dealing with Valencia. Agree with the list though. I notice the omission of a certain Stanley Victor Collymore! Joe Cole who is also ex Liverpool may eb the new Berger!
  12. I imagine this would be your stock response to any signing we made tbfh. TBFH I’m sure you’re capable of imagining anything! And maybe your ability to dream can stretch to this lad becoming a good defender and passer of the ball once he has a few coaching sessions with Paul Lambert. Unfortunately back in reality he is an over hyped player on a downward trajectory. Lamberts form in signing second-rate left backs continues unabated. So far it’s Bennett, Luna, Bertrand and now this guy.
  13. Surely this is a joke, he’d be a woeful signing if it happens. Hasn’t a clue how to defend or pass the ball. Was awful for Liverpool last season. FFS Lambert this is even more bizarre than Senderos
  14. I think he has clearly tried but anything above £30k a week seems beyond his budget. It makes it tough. I think if he was backed to get half the players he's tried to sign we'd be a decent team. Just really disappointing, the sooner new owners come in the better (pointing out the bleeding obvious I know). Pity our manager has elected to offer a sizable chunk of that to Joe Cole to keep our physio company for the year!
  15. It’s not easy to break into the first team when Lambert is the manager and your being cock blocked by the dross he signed like Bowery, Tonev, Helenius, Luna, Sylla and Holt. FFS he has yet to give any of our players a chance to prove they are better than that lot. Albrighton walked after being ignored for too long.
  16. It’s so frustrating to see him leave without being given a chance in the first team. He done well on loan which is backed up by MK Dons signing him while injured!! Wish him all the best and I honestly expect him to be playing Championship if not Prem football next season.
  17. Brilliant player and a true warrior on the pitch. A club legend and one of the finest to ever wear the claret and blue. Oh to be one of the lucky lads with a “Thanks 4 Your Support” jersey. Thanks for the memories.
  18. Off topic but….A good man manager!!! FFS, what are you basing that on? Is there even a single example of this? No offence but I'd say you need your eyes checked
  19. Philippe Sylvain Senderos says YES!
  20. well he's going on the pre season tour of the US so he must be close
  21. The most high profile football person at the club is now our assistant manager. This will be very interesting.
  22. Roy Keane is set to be named as Aston Villa’s assistant manager. It's understood the 42-year-old will work alongside Paul Lambert at Villa Park, combining the role with his post as Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill’s number two, and an announcement is imminent. The move was mooted last month after Keane spoke to Celtic about the opportunity to succeed Neil Lennon as manager, but ultimately decided not to take matters any further. Lambert’s coaching staff was significantly depleted last season when assistant Ian Culverhouse and football operations manager Gary Karsa were suspended and then sacked for unspecified disciplinary reasons. Keane’s impending appointment comes with the players due to return for pre-season training on Monday. The former Sunderland and Ipswich manager returned to the game in November last year when O’Neill offered him the opportunity to return to the international fold. However, Keane’s presence within the Ireland camp has raised his profile once again and O’Neill admitted at the height of the speculation at the end of May and the beginning of July that the former Manchester United skipper would inevitably be courted by other potential employers.
  23. We already had a squad packed with players of insufficient quality for Premier League football. We have decided to add to this cohort Joe Cole and Phil Senderos. It’s a complete joke. 13 of our first team squad do not have the ability to play Premier League football. Tonev, Baker, Helenius, Luna, Steer, Lowton, Bent, Hutton, Stevens, Senderos, Cole, Sylla, Herd and Given. The jury is still out on El Ahmadi, Clarke and Bennet and N’Zogbia We’re left with Guzan, Vlaar, Okore, Bacuna, Weimann, Gabby, Westwood, Delph, Kozak and Benteke. Out of that Vlaar and Benteke are the only who might have better prospects than being a squad player in a struggling Premier League side. I do have high hopes for a few our of youngsters however the bulk of our squad are relegation fodder. I hate being negative but WE ARE THAT BAD
