  1. Whatever Burnley want for Ings, and whatever anybody else offers, i would better it.The kid is going to be top class, his touch and confidence in front of goal is something you can't teach.Him playing off CB, with another good attacker, Ayew?, playing off him, save the money for Cleverley, and try and get Michu.
  2. By the way Steffan, just noticed you have gone to Poland, read your dilemma a week or two ago....best wishes and good luck.Up the Villa
  3. I suggest you read my comments. All i say about Westwood is he is an incredibly average player, and not good enough for Villa imho. And i couldn't give a monkeys if you accept that or not. In my eyes a few passes in a game does not constitute a good game, he was ok yday, no more in my eyes. My agenda?.....for AVFC to have a better team, thats all. You seem to think you have some kind of monopoly on knowledge of the game.....its all about opinions, to coin a phrase.
  4. " I know more about football than you" argument Steffan, or difference in opinion? You seem to take any criticism of Westwood, or in my case non praise of Westwood, quite personally.Lets put it down to difference in views.I admire your loyalty to him i have to say, but not for me.
  5. " Hes not on the pitch to create or score".......what is his role in the team then? Sanchez is the sitting midfielder, Cleverley and Westwood to support the attack. You misunderstand the concept of having a good game.A lot of them passes he made yday, i expect a professional footballer in the Prem to be able to do.Thats the trouble with Westwood, he gets praised to the hilt for doing the basics. He was ok yday, but when we had plenty of the ball we didn't offer enough threat in front of goal. For me it was up to Cleverley and Westwood to get in the box and support Gabby, they didn't.A better performance yday, and Joe Cole was a joy to watch.
  6. Never looked like doing what he was on the pitch for, scoring or creating.Him or Cleverley are just too average.
  7. For me we will miss him if he isn't playing. His strength and power is irreplaceable atm.Not sure we would miss Cleverley or Westwood. Certainly a mixed bag, but i think the positives outweigh the negatives. With a midfielder who can shoot/score goals/get in the box, alongside Delph, the midfield will be fine.
  8. Hes done the pass of the season at VP so far this year. His pass to Hutton, i believe his first touch, was by far the best pass by a Villa player at VP this season. He looks off the pace, and has admitted so in todays papers. Will imho be a very good player for us, and as Delphinio said, alongside Delph, and a better midfielder he will be fine.Michu maybe.
  9. You could argue Gabby cost us 5 points against Spuds and Soton as well by not marking his men. We'll agree to disagree about Westwood, but i think Sanchezs physical presence will be very important this season.
  10. Well you could argue that since he has played we have not lost 2 out of 3 games, which for us is good. My post said that i don't think he is up to speed, he plays too far up the pitch, and he gets caught out of position. However, he is strong, competitive, aggressive and quick. He is good in the tackle, competes in the air, and defends the edge of the box better than any other midfielder we have.As the Makelele role he is ideal. Now, for me, leave Sanchez deep, and let Cleverley. and Westwood to do what they are supposed to be good at, being positive, but to be fair, they both look incapable of providing anything from midfield. No goals, no assists, therein lies the problem.
  11. I'm getting like that Steffan, not even bothered now. Can anybody tell me , in how many home games in Lamberts reign, have we had more than 50% possession? I know its not the be all and end all, but it does, for me , signify how negative, and on the back foot we are. Another thing last night, when was the last time a team like Soton come to VP and were 4 to 1 ON , to beat us...............unacceptable.
  12. We'll get relegated with a midfield of Delph, Cleverley and Westwood. I'm struggling to see anything positive that any of our midfield did last night. Now i can excuse Sanchez, firstly because i think he is coming up to the pace of the game, and secondly because i think he is a good defensive midfielder, so his game is to win the ball and pass it on.Now , for me, neither Cleverley or Westwood done one good positive thing last night. Westwoods attempt to play Weimann through late in the 2nd half, for me highlighted both Villas and Westwoods deficiencies, not able to complete the pass because of poor quality.Going forward we are incredibly poor.Westwood wasn't the worst last night, in fact he was probably the best of the midfield, but if hes our best, then that is our problem. An ok player in a poor team.
  13. Agree villaglint.Clarks biggest problem for me is he gets pulled out of position far too easily, but last night he was staedy, and for me MOM. Not a fan, never have been , never will be, but played well last night.
  14. Dear me complete overreaction. Not his best performance last night, but showed enough to suggest that we would miss him terribly if he wasn't in the team. The problem last night was PLs insistence on getting Westwood in the team, he plays too deep, and Sanchez pushes up to far forward, and then looks off the pace when he has to get back.He needs to just sit in front of the back 4 and win the ball there, the fact that Westwood , Cleverley, NZog, and Weimann did nothing with the ball when we got it is another problem. Sanchez will turn out to be a bargain at £4m
  15. Prefer Dembele. Not sure about Holtby, never done enough to suggest to me he is anything special.A very similar player to Cleverley, not sure we would need both. I can see Arse looking at Delph, might prefer a swap with them.
  16. Hes better than Westwood, just. Sigurdsson has 2 goals, and 7 assists this season, Cleverley and Westwood 0 and 0?. Perspective time, Westwood and Cleverley not good enough, Sanchez and Delph are.Maybe try GG in Jan, but i think we need to look elsewhere tbh.
  17. I admire your constant support of him Bunnski, but he is a very limited player, who might do 2 or 3 good things in a game, but doesn't make him a good player. Yday was a good example of Westwood, did ok, didn't impose himself, didn't stand out, didn't do anything exceptional.Gave the ball away too much, and too often fails to open the game up by playing too many safe passes. Sanchez stood out yday, Delph could probably play alongside him, but for me neither Westwood or Cleverley do enough.
  18. He is worth £75k per week, only because he will go on a free otherwise. He is not a top 4 player imho, and probably would'nt get in Spuds or Everton. Tbh i think Delphs attitude is a bit disappointing , especially after he didn't play for a good 12 months, and i would probably try and do a deal for him and Vlaar, with prospective buyers in Jan.
  19. Hes the only natural attacking midfielder we have on the books. He gets in the box.For me him Sanchez and Delph would be a better balanced midfield than with Cleverley or Westwood. Not sure hes good enough, but we have no goal threat from midfield.
  20. NRC always played well against Ronaldo.I seem to recall him playing RB against Ure once, and he marked Ronaldo out the game. A very limited player, who thought he was far better than he actually was, didn't appreciate what he was good at, and failed to be as good as he should have been.I don't think Westwood has an attitude problem tbh.
  21. McLaren.........we need someone to coach the players properly.
  22. He is certainly well liked by the media, they was talking him up before the game, and the commentator was talking him up during the game. I take absolutely no pleasure in his poor performance last night, i would like nothing more than Westwood to turn out as good as Bunnski and Stefan think he will be, i just can't see it myself.
  23. Thats what i said Stevo, after GH and before. We've never really had a great technical coach, but this bloke atm is up there with McNeill.
  24. Yeah, and the 2nd.Only had the near post really to cover, wasn't close enough to it. Mind you tbf, he has generally been pretty solid.
  25. Have to say it has been a problem since GH, and before him as well. Gabby drives me to frustration, his lack of movement, or awareness is incredibly irritating.Seeing him saunter into the box last night makes me wonder how much coaching he has had, he never anticipates, or anticipates, and i don't think its any coincidence that the one true coach we had as a manager, GH, never played him. On top of that, having no midfielders who try to run past the forwards, and create space, and options for others, leads me to the conclusion that PLs recruitment, and awareness of the problems, and how to rectify them, are non-exxistant.No options, no quality, no awareness, no chance, no future.
