  1. I think it's quite an assumption that there might be more than one interested buyer. Exactly. And if this buyer is clearly unsuitable, but has the cash, do you honestly believe Lerner would pull the deal because he doesn't feel the future of the club would be in the best hands?
  2. So, if you know what time it was fully charged, and now it's dead - you can add 12 hours to your earlier time to get the time. Sound like a perfectly reliable piece of timekeeping equipment to me.
  3. I think that's what we'd all like. But the alternative could be far worse. Especially as most of the rumours seem to be coming from the far east, a region without a brilliant reputation for recent takeovers.
  4. Seems to be designed to maintain the status quo. New teams get close to their domestic champions league places, and their reward is a long and exhausting competition on Thursday nights, which seems to knock teams back to midtable obscurity pretty quickly.
  5. Is Fox likely to be sticking around post-Lerner? Fox is doing brilliant work.. if a new owner means Fox goes, then I'm even more anxious.
  6. I must admit that I'm very worried about a takeover. Whilst the club is in need of a motivated owner, I don't like the thought that we're not being "sold".. more ... 'offloaded'.. Lerner is desperate to sell, which mean he isn't going to hang around for the best person for the future of the club. It'll be first person to stump up the cash and run away. Even if he is being choosey.. this is a man who thought that McLeish was the right manager. Then Houllier. Then McAllister. After letting O'Neill run amok with his money. I don't think Lerner is a bad person, but if I was in his position I would be selling to the first people to meet my evaluation and running away for a peaceful break in my mansion. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get an owner with motivation for the club to succeed and not another Vincent Tan, or worse Carson Yeung.
  7. A win's a win, but against probably the weakest team in the competition, we managed to rescue that batting innings to be average at best. Scores of 300 are common place this tournament, so scraping our way up to that against Scotland doesn't make me think we've "turned a corner". This Test Cricket mindset of ours is going to hold us back with one day. We seem to bat like it's a test, before we realise it's limited overs and we actually need to score, then panic and get out. New batsman, rinse and repeat. I like Bell but that innings in criminal in a One Day game on good pitches.

I must have missed something because I found that the worst episode of the series so far. I liked the Peugeot bit (the history, etc..), up until there was then 7-8 minutes of Clarkson and May driving.. well, like Peugeot drivers. 90 seconds of that would have got the point across, it just got boring. SIARPC was boring too, his lap was impressive, but not the sort of guest which interests me, I assume there would be many many others who'd disagree.. wasn't my episode, really.
  9. Have Senderos and Baker been a partnership for us at all? I know we started defending well with Vlaar and Senderos, then it was Vlaar and Baker, then they both got injured and it swapped to Clark and Senderos, who were also pretty solid. Since then Senderos has been injured - I don't recall him partnering Baker at any point. For me our most solid defence has been Vlaar and Baker. I would always play Vlaar when fit, with one of Baker/Clark. If Vlaar is injured I would play Senderos with one of Baker or Clark. I still dont think there's enough experience and leadership when we play Clark and Baker together.
  10. Would be interesting to see how many referees in the premier league, had that been on Hazard and Mourinho jumped up and Chelsea players surround the ref, might have been pressured into giving that as a red card.
  11. He was pretty heavily 4-4-2 with Spurs, granted that may have been governed by personell at his disposal and may change with us, but I'd assume a pretty high chance of playing 4-4-2, maybe with Gil playing off Benteke with Sinclair and Grealish/Cole on the wings. Leaves quite a few midfielders to battle it out actualky.. Delph, Bacuna, Westwood, Sanchez, Cleverley, Cole,.. Then Weimann and Gabby.. He's got decent options if he can find his balance.
  12. He seems happy (if this account is genuine, no blue tick but it was private until a few days ago) @G11Agbonlahor: Happy with that. #NewChapter #avfc #WelcomeSherwood
  13. Love how people regularly complain about young English managers not being given a chance, and then comments like I've seen on Twitter (and to some extent, here) Yes, the situation is not ideal, but when is a new manager coming in ever not a critical decision. Last week I said I wanted anyone but Lambert, I've got that, and I welcome a younger, attacking minded manager, and he has my full support.
  14. Yup. @PurelyFootball: BREAKING: Tim Sherwood has been appointed as the new manager of Aston Villa http://t.co/ZZnhP89WJl
  15. Caught up on the first episode of Fortitude on Sky Atlantic. Really enjoyed it although I'm still not sure what sort of show it is. Very dark and mysterious, a lot of dodgy characters.. but it developed well. 12 episodes been scheduled, and I really hope it is just a 12-part drama and doesn't turn into another 'Lost'.
  16. Several journalists reporting that villa are done for the night. Lambert was a last gasp enquiry but there was no plan b. Bugger. Fwiw I think 5m on a player who didn't want to leave liverpool would have been a terrible move, but not adding any more striking options to our squad is going to give us a tough second half to the season. Happy with Gil and Sinclair but not convinced it'll be enough.

Was a shame to use a recycled idea. It was entertaining, but nothing really new and I agree with villa4europe - they could have used the setting a lot better.
  18. I don't see why he can't be captain now. Vlaar and Gabby are not even dead certs for the team sheet; Vlaar has missed too many games with injury and Gabby's form is in question, and his captaincy abilities even more so. Delph seems to carry a lot of gravitas with the team, I would be surprised if he's not one of the most respected players in the dressing room, and reads the game better than the other captaincy candidates, barring maybe Clark (who again isn't necessarily first name on the team sheet). Captain next season for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him take the armband for the rest of this season.
  19. Yes. Gave the crowd a bit of a lift. Then at half time (with all the grumbling) they paraded him on the pitch for another crowd lift. We should sign a new player or extend s big players contract before every game, stops the atmosphere going too negative :-P
  20. He'll be part of City's homegrown quota, so I doubt they're too desperate. Not sure why city are asking so much money though, they have other homegrown players who are just as likely to make the squad as Sinclair is now (ie. None)
  21. Certainly hope they do so, and I hope Schneiderlin sees sense and doesn't run off to join Spurs in January. They'll be raided again in the summer, no doubt. If they can get Champions League, then there's no telling where they can go with the talent available, the money in the bank and the offer of Champions League football.
  22. Madrid appear to be selling Bale (who was bought before FFP started) and getting in Reus, Pogba and De Gea. That doesn't seem bad business..
  23. There's a lot of money to be made if you can drive traffic to websites. Lots of twitter followers who click links are the easiest way to do so. The page he links to might not even have anything good on, maybe a hidden iFrame to trick Amazon Affiliates or something. He seems to the sort to be doing that.
  24. Pavlov's Skis was the lesser known follow up research. Day 1, rang bell, realised these were inanimate objects. What the hell am I doing with my life? Which coincidentally is how a lot of our squad feel right now.
