  1. I can see him given more of a chance this year, Sherwood will use him to bring a bit of class and craft to the midfield. He took the club over in a relegation dogfight, he needed gritty fighters, Gil isn't one of those. A pre-season and a chance to look at his squad and how Gil can be used will give him new options. Options which were too risky with such limited time but now are now options to add elements to the team.
  2. Liverpool are ready to match Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke's £32.5m buy-out clause. (Daily Express) @TeleFootball: Liverpool will match £32.5m buy-out in Christian Benteke contract.
  3. Yaya Toure is about to sign a new contract there, and they're supposedly about to bid 71m for Pogba. Now that would be Delph's position there filled beyond his level of competition.
  4. Guess work. The man has a point, a spending spree just before being taken over is unusual and would suggest there's no deal in the pipeline. But it's still a guess.
  5. And there would have been something from the official avfc Twitter welcoming him. Yeah. Total bullshit
  6. Sadly I'm pretty confident of the same.
  7. Very intrigued to know if @Fabiandelph17 is ligit. He's saying good things. Too good. And it's all too easy to fake.
  8. It seems strange to make him captain, when you know (or can be 95% with that clause in) that he was wanting to leave in the summer.
  9. I didn't think he was great, but I think the 'worst player in recent history' claims are far off the mark. I'd like to see him given a chance. He's not on high wages and has near zero resale value, so no harm in seeing if Tim can get something out of him. Don't think he's going to be first team but we need a squad. If Tim gives him a go, isn't impressed, then let him go January or next summer. I think he's worth looking at.
  10. I think the recent two signings/rumours are more likely using Benteke money to rebuild the team. I hope it's a new owner splashing some cash though.
  11. He's not a big enough name for the Liverpool fans and they don't like how he only turns up for a 1/3 of the season. For us that 1/3 is enough to keep us up, but it won't be enough to get them in the Champions League.
  12. Will keep an Eagle Eye out for this one.
  13. There is A sky sports reporter Twitter account saying it's his understanding that city will not be pursuing the release clause. Whether this account is real I do not know, it's unverified without too many followers, so I doubt it. Looks like it's a real reporter who only joined up yesterday, other tweets he's put seem genuine but easy enough to fake something like that. Very strange if it is true. Makes no sense for city to not trigger it, more likely they've been told Delph won't be agreeing any terms.
  14. Liverpool forums now claiming they've triggered Bacca's release clause. Don't believe a word is said by any fan site, least of all Liverpool, but I hope this is true as it would almost certainly put them out the running for Christian.
  15. To the people saying 'why such a low fee'.. you have to remember he was out of contract and leaving for free. At the time it was probably a 'sign this, get higher wages for 3 months, leave for a club wanting to buy you than just picking up a bargain, and we get 10m instead of nothing'. I just hope delph isn't silly about this and looks at Sinclair, Rodwell.. even Milner struggled. Im sure Micah and Scotty can have words. My worry is that if this clause is true, and even if he rejects city, name a club out there who won't think delph for 10m is worth it..
  16. This upsets me. I know he was due to leave on a free, but after the progress we made under Sherwood this was be a gigantic step backwards. He'd only be signing for city for their HG quota as well. From captain and in the England setup to city's bench. Would be a very bad move for him, but I can't see him turning it down.
  17. My Liverpool fan friend is adamant that 25m plus Lambert has been accepted. He has no sources, so I'm guessing he's just reading the Liverpool forums. That would mean they value a 32 year old striker they don't want at 7.5m. I hope Villa ain't stupid about that. For 32m we can invest well, we don't want their overvalued cast offs thank you. 18. Getting Rob Green, apparently. There's a lot of tactical 'signing HG players' going on at the moment. Reserve and third choice keepers are the obvious positions to have these inferior English players...
  19. Hoffenheim did pretty well out of this, they only paid 3m for him. I know very little about him, other than hearing that he's really good, etc.. etc.. The main problem with coming as a relatively unknown quantity with a big price tag is that expectations are high from the beginning, if he doesn't hit the ground running then pressure will build in no time, especially with fans with the patience of Liverpool's.
  20. What would 'silly money' be for Delph? In a world where sterling and his transfer request are 50m, Delph, as captain and a new contract, with man city absolute desperate for home grown players, I'd say Delph would have to be in a similar bracket. Reports city enquired what it might take and we just outright told them to jog on, hope that's true.
  21. I'm guessing it has, but it was a quiet word, slap on the wrists and no more said about it.
  22. Went to Bears v Pears a few weeks ago and I'm actually staggered at how Pears can be top of the league. They had nothing which suggested to me they had enough to compete, Bears didn't play well and still won at a canter. Obviously caught them on a bad day, or they've had some players back (I know Ali has been playing the last few games). Makes it interesting though, especially now a few overseas players are starting to trickle in. Yorkshire have had their big overseas players from the start, but with both being Australian they are going to lose them once the Ashes starts and any Indian and New Zealand players will come in for the other teams (including McCullum for Bears), Yorkshire will be annoyed they haven't got themselves higher in the league with that advantage, but when you look at the players they don't have available as they're off with England it's hardly a surprise. I hope Yorkshire do get to Finals Day as there will be a lot of big players on display if they all get recalled.
  23. Papers this morning saying Sunderland are weighing up a bid for Townsend. Whether you want Townsend or not, him turning us down in favour of going to Sunderland would be a pretty big kick in the balls.
  24. What happens to a buy back clause of the player is sold or his contract runs down. Hypothetically, if he signs a 1 year deal at Everton, let's it run down, become a free agent and then sign from free for Everton or someone else, would Barcelona still be entitled to a 6m buy back? Also, what if Everton sell him for 7m to someone else in a few years, would barca be told they have to increase the buy back or what? Seems a very messy agreement in principal
