General C:

One question, can you hire me for a job at Villa Park? ;)

I speak Spanish fluently, and can communicate well in Portuguese. I have a TEFL, meaning I can teach English as a Foreign Language. This means any players you buy will have an instructor to teach them English. :)

I have a huge passion for the game and support Aston Villa 150%.

I'd work cheap and efficiently and give everything my best. My dream job is to work for the best team in the world, Aston Villa F.C.

I understand if you don't want or need me, but a private message would be nice to acknowledge that you have at least read this post. Cheers, keep up the good work.

Up the Villa,

Sincerely,

Brendan J. Mahoney

Great post!

Give him a job for Christ sake!

1. HEV: good idea. I will push it forward. I would love to have breakfast at the Holte!! I will watch the game at the stadium...just because I want to get a sense of what it is like. You all have had the pleasure...I need to do it.

2. Brendan, of course I read your post....I look at all of them on this thread. You need to go down to Villa Park and visit the HR department and see what sort of jobs they have available...if any. Recognize that you may not start at the top but the key is to get in the door. Give it a shot.

General, most recommended if you have never witnessed a derby before as it really is an experience!

We had a player called Dean Saunders who played for Liverpool and had played in the derby there and after playing in a Villa Blues derby was in shock.

Whatever you estimated the hate between the fans then multiply it by a 10000!

General. Just a small gripe about the phone system at the ticket office. I was trying for about an hour today to get through to an advisor. Thats understandable with the Liverpool tickets on sale. However after getting a dialing tone and going through to the options and pressing 1 to speak to a customer advisor the phone was engaged and I would have to ring again. After 5 successful attempts to get through the first part, followed by 5 engaged tones for the customer advisors I gave up. Surely we can be placed in a queue system to avoid this annoyance?

Just following on from Mwarley General but on the ticket thread for liverpool it has been said the ticket office staff (and the phone lines are so busy) have said that the game could be sold out soon

so can you confirm if we have broken the 24k barrier for season tickets and if this leaves around 14000 tickets for sale ?

were all these tickets for sale or have any seats been kept behind for possible ST sales ?

but if we have nearly sold 14000 tickets in a days it shows the massive potential at Villa, in these circumstances then obviously teh question of ground enlargement raises again

General,

Do you have any idea of what realistic aim the manager and club has for the forthcoming season. What position are we realistically looking to achieve to fit in with the first team. I'm sure we'd all like to win the league, but realise that this will not happen.

Good evenin' General,

Just two quick (and easy) questions for you:

1. Will you be in Columbus, Ohio this weekend with the team?

2. If so, will you be attending the players' reception on the Friday evening?

cheers! (and thanks for all the updates/correspondence)

General,

Dont know if this has already been said but is there any plans for an AVFC sports channel as there is for manutd and chelsea etc? Also do you think there would be a plan to stream all villa's non sky games on the OS on a pay-per-view type thing? think this could be a really good source of revenue for the club!

Thanks for everything you and the board have done so far - really appreciate the effort!!

UP THE VILLA!!!!

General Krulak here:

1. With regard to negotiations: Are you talking specifically about drafting the contract or are you talking about dealing with the agent or are you talking about meeting with player?? The actual contract negotiation is really a matter of several people...with MON playing the lead role. Drafting is a different issue altogether. I guess i am not sure what the question really is...because more than one hand is in the pot.

General sorry my question was not clear.

I guess I was trying to understand the end to end process really so who negotiates with the selling club, then who negotiates with the player the actual terms of the deal.

I was interested to make the murky world of player transfers a little more clearer

General Krulak here:

1. Sorry about the cock-up with phone system. I will ask Nicky Keye to look into it. I have been at Villa Park for some pretty big games and when the sales started, we didn't have a phone problem. Something must have gone very wrong.

2. New web site should be up soon. I will call today and see if we have a good date. To be honest, I haven't been on the site in two months...too busy with the 4 fan sites!! It could be up and running and I wouldn't know it. Obviously from your question, it isn't.

3. We will definitely break 24,000.

4. I cannot and should not speak for the Manager or the Club as to where we will end up this season. I am not afraid to speak up for myself if EVERYONE realizes that this is just me talking and not the Club or Manager. The fact that I am a Director does NOT mean anything in this discussion...I am replying as a FAN, not as a Director. I emphasize this point because I do not want to read 5 months from now that I "promised" something or that the Club promised something. With that fully understood, here is what I think (or perhaps hope and dream): First off, like you all, I would like to see who else we bring in this summer. How we do will obviously be impacted by who joins the Squad. At this point in time, I believe with good fortune, we could be 6, 7, or 8. If you look at our Squad, we really have strengthen ourselves over the past year. We have some "holes"...there is no doubt of that. BUT, we have a superb Manager, an owner who has opened his wallet, and if we sign quality to fill the holes, then we could be in great shape. Obviously, the key is the health of our Squad...we need to keep the lads healthy...and if they do get hurt, we need them back soonest. This is why the new Training Ground is important...it is not just to get our players "trained"...it is to keep them healthy and bring them back to health quickly. Maybe I am an optimist...or some may say I am a pessimist...but I have tried to answer the question honestly. NOW, A KEY POINT: I am NOT a football expert! Most of you have forgotten more about the "beautiful game" than I know! So what I have given you are my thoughts based upon my knowledge of the game....which is minimal compared to you all.

5. I will be in Columbus but will not be arriving until Sat am.

6. I do not think we will have a Sports Channel yet.

7. I will be off the net until this weekend as I will be traveling to a Board Meeting of the Union Pacific Rail Road until Friday then the game on Saturday. I am not quitting the site...just won't have the computer with me. I will have a Blackberry but can't get this site on that system.

General got my Inter tickets today but not in my normal seaston ticket seats as they wernt avaliable, so instead i got a little piece of paper where my seats are for that game. Fair enough I understand the system. However got home and explaining to my parents why we've got no match ticket and the fact that we still use our season ticket card even though in a different area harder to explain. And then my mum pointed out something rather quite obvious, there is no reciet. What happens if the cards are not updated as the club say they will and we cant get in. We've then got no proof of purchase as I paid cash. Surely this is a flaw and could lead to future problems?

Gen

Two things

First - very quick. I agree with the receipt thing. I have joined the cup scheme and am worried I'll turn up at 7.40pm for the 2nd Round only to get a red light and a "you're not coming in" - until it has been up and running for a season I would have thought it was best to have a back up system for emergencies.

Second

It's regarding your comment about keeping players fit / training ground improvement etc.. I was discussing this with a mate the other day - Mark Delaney, if fit, is certainly one of teh best full backs in the Premier, including the top 4 - the problem is though - keeping him fit !.

Now, going back a year, Luke Moore said he had been playing with a dislocated shoulder for 3 yrs without getting treatment on it - Randy came and within a month he was off to a top specialist in America to get it "done properly". Obviously Mark has had crippling injuries over the past two years, adn Martin Laursen over 3 (again, Randy comes in and Martin goes to a top specialist.

So, the question is, do you think our medical side of things were "done on the cheap" in the past. Not getting proper treatment to save money short term - but the long term was that this cost us far more by way of having millions of pounds worth of talent in the stands for two years !! - AND - if you do think it may have - are you confident that with the professional team we have now, Martin and (very hopefully) Marks problems are behind them.

Sorry its a long question

General,

Would it be possible at some point for MON to do a brief questions and answers session with the fans, perhaps on the new official site. I understand that he is very busy both in the off-season and during the campaign but it would be nice to be able to ask him a few questions rather than relying on the drivel journalists usually spout at him. Maybe we could gather a few questions from fans on sites like this one and then MON could answer them (wouldn't have to answer all of them just the selected few) in his own time and then they would be published on the OS.

Just an idea...maybe not a good one but its Wednesday morning after all ....

General,

Is it possible to get Richard FitzGerald to come out and qualify his statement re: "Top Class Players", please. His comments are at odds with recent MON comments, where he said he was looking at simply making the squad bigger.

It is vitally important that fans do not feel like they have been lied to. We have had it for many years now, and if we are now not looking to bring in 'top class' players, or MON cannot sign these players for whatever reason, then please rather than trying to keep it up, can we just have what is exactly going on. We don't need names, we don't need sums. We don't need anything like that.

A poor summer, particularly after Mr Fitzgerald's comments re: Player purchases would dent a fair few people's faith (yes, not all), which would be a shame considering the amount of season tickets sold and the fan 'effort' to back the club into becoming good once more.

Must back JCs question here General. There is, I hope you're aware, a very large amount of dissent growing on these boards. We are watching LOTS of others teams spend big money on big players and not doing the same ourselves, despite selling 8 potential first team players. We are genuinely concerned and worried. This needs to be passed on.
