Defensively good for a change. Very little going forward, Keane seemed to be the only player who was finding space and making something happen so I dread to think how we'll be with him gone and Bent injured. Albrighton, Bannan and Gardner were pretty awful. Missed Stan.

Its the Championship next season for us :( Does RL even know that sides get relegated in the Premier League?

Unless they've changed the rule to more than six teams getting relegated we won't be one of them. Another game gone another point clearer of the bottom three

Oh well thats alright then. Hoo-rah for Big Eck

A nil-nil bore draw at the DW, out-passed and out-possessed by Wigan.

Heady days

The BBC are showing possession at 50% each

Yeah I think it evened out toward the end although if it had the action areas like sky it might not be quite so kind.

Saying that this is the headline on the BBC match report, "Wigan remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League after they failed to capitalise on their domination over Aston Villa at the DW Stadium."

Nice to see Cuellar looking fairly solid again, our back 4 has certainly benefited from having him around. At least the changes enforced through circumstance are doing us a few favours.

True, we have looked a little more solid with him around, but we still give away so many corners. Is there a way of comparing the corners conceded by each team, 'cause I'm sure our numbers aren't normal.

Shocking stuff, summed up by Heskey on before Nzog and Ireland.

Get him out of our team please he is killing us.

Quite worried now, especially if we don't win next weekend.

Hope the bent injury isn't too seriious but he looked in a lot of pain. We are going to miss Keane badly too, he was MOTM for me.

I was saying this last week, I seriously think we aren't that bad at defending corners it's that we concede so damn many of them. I'd like to see a percentage comparison against other teams of corners conceded to goals conceded from corners.

Just home from the match now. That was absolute dross. My first game of the season, although I've seen most matches by other means, and it'll be my last until McLeish is gone.

We lacked shape. Right from the outset our full backs were completely exposed as the midfield and forwards were so narrow. On the rare occasions we attacked players seemed scared to leave their positions or overlap. It was hard to tell specifically where Keane, Gabby and Albrightin had been asked to play. Or Bannan and Gardner for that matter.

We lacked invention. Nobody knows what to do with the ball. Probably because the complete lack of movement means there's never anybody in space. Unlike Wigan who always seemed to have a man over.

We lacked strength. We were getting outmuscled on so many occasions, players just bouncing off the Wigan men as they piled towards out goal.

We lacked a plan B. Or a plan A for that matter. When it became clear we were being overrun in midfield the first change was made after close to 70 mins (I think). Albrighton was the right man to take off, but for Heskey? Jesus wept. He's useless as a striker and that's his actual position, so to persist with playing him on the wing beggars belief.

We lacked in every area of the field, in every position. The team selection was bizarre (I'd have had NZogbia for Albrighton and Ireland for Bannan from the start) - I get that we have injuries but to have such an inexperienced midfield pairing is criminal.

We lacked, and continue to lack, a manager with any sort of nous or tactical ability.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted by what I've seen today. Our loyal travelling fans deserve better. They were superb today.

Proud history, shite future.

Sack McLeish my Lord.

Good god ive just got back from the Irish Bar in town so its 2:47am in the morning here.

I must say how EVERYONE laughed at the result when it come up as we were watching Rugby on the other TV.

A relegation candidate if not this year then defo next year as to watch Villa are painful.

Thank god i follow Barcelona i suppose but still when your fond of a club its not east watching them be so awful under a shocking manager and under an even more shocking chairman.

Mcleish **** off because nobody wants you here. LOL Heskey on before Ireland and Zog !!!!

Ireland and Zog move on as you deserve much better !

"We played brilliantly at the back. We had a gameplan and we utilised it brilliantly."

**** off McLeish. We have a good squad. You are shit manager. So pissed off right now.

Are you joking? He didn't say that?

Nah he didn't say that....yet. But I have predicted his bullshit post match comments.

Ive just burst out laughing reading that !

MCLEISH is the worst premiership manager in years he even makes old Mick look good !!!

Before the January transfer window i stated that we needed to bring another striker in just in case something happened to Bent and before anyone shouts 'Keane' i mean a striker that will actually finnish the season with us.

We are now left with the distinct possibility of Heskey playing until the end of the season up front especially with Gabby not exactly 100% fit.

We really are in a lot of trouble now with both Keane and Bent out.

Concerning today's game, not really surprised at the result, as he yet again failed to pick our best team and he really has to go now Randy.

Good draw, Wigan is a tough place to go. Defense were magnificent.

Well worth making the trip when we earn a point like that.

I thought you were supposed to write in italics when you are taking the piss!

Nah I had to at least make it sound like I was serious

Just back from the fixture.

The positives.

Defence much better without Dunne. We defended lots of corners well

We left on 86 mins when Heskey skimmed the corner flag, and flew home

The service in Pizza Hut before the game was quite good

The negatives.

Everything else

Terrible tactics, awful match

McLeish got absolute pelters all 2nd half

Not sure it helps, seems to affect the players too much

Found what we're looking for....

The columns are:

Team

Goals scored from corners

Goals conceded from corners

The aggregate

The total corners conceded.

As you can see, we're shit at all scoring and conceding. Only Wolves have conceded more corners than us, yet have only 6 goals against as opposed to our 11. We're also the only team not to score from a corner!

ManC... 12... 2... +10... 118... corners conceded

WBA.... 6... 1... +5... 152

ManU... 7... 3... +4... 105

Nrwc... 7... 3... +4... 159

Chel... 4... 0... +4... 86

Evet... 5... 2... +3... 119

Sund... 4... 1... +3... 147

Wolv... 6... 5... +1... 178

Spur... 5... 4... +1... 126

Bbun... 8... 8... 0... 172

Stke... 4... 5... -1... 168

Arse... 3... 4... -1... 98

Lpoo... 5... 7... -2... 99

Fham... 3... 5... -2... 134

Newc... 1... 3... -2... 126

QPR.... 3... 6... -3... 151

Swan... 3... 6... -3... 156

Wgan... 3... 6... -3... 153

Bton... 3... 10... -7... 172

AVil... 0... 11... -11... 173

Apologies for the formatting.

Apologies for the formatting.

So to sum up, we concede the second highest amount of corners, concede almost twice as many goals as any other team from corners, score NO GOALS from a corner, have no set piece specialist as such, an isolated and no injured front man, shit football and a sever lack of attacking intent and it's not hard to see why we're genuinely rubbish.

McLeish has to go!
