Lot of rumours at golf day today that Given is signing for WBA and not us.

Pretty sure their wage structure wouldn't support this.

Thats what i said, but they must have some one in mind to let Carson go.

Better playing with 10 men if you listen to most Boggies!

Have to say I think Given would be a rubbish signing.Much prefer Foster

Me too

Rubbish is a bit harsh, for a player who has been top class for City, Newcastle and Ireland when not injured. Got more ability and cheaper than Foster, just you'd get more years out of the Foster than Given.

Given. A rubbish signing. Ha. Where have some of you been the past 10-15 years? So when we signed Brad Friedel that was also a rubbish signing obviously. The fecal matter on this forum is uncontrollable at times.

I comfort myself with the facts that:

1. I assume our medical staff (maybe this will be the newly acquired Dr McGuiness) will be satisfied that Shay's shoulder is now sorted.

2. As such we will get three to four years out of a very good keeper.

3. He will be retiring just as Siegrist will be 22-23 and ready to take over first team duties (at least until Citeh take an interest in him!)

Wouldn't say Given would be a bad/rubbish signing, but would much prefer Foster. The latter would mean we have the GK position sown up for the forseeable.

The Given deal would feel more like the Friedel one. Good player, but on a downward curve and the clock is ticking from the get go.

What's the longest players stay at a club these days anyway?

We'd probably get as many years from Given as we would Foster, if not more.

Foster's supposed to be a crock as well, Colin Tattum reckons Blues could barely get him on the pitch towards the end of the season and there are serious concerns there.
