We know Houllier (obviously) and Sven were interviewed.

We approached for Moyes (but were told to **** off).

Decided not to go for Jol because he was at Ajax.

Mourinho said 'next year'.

Thats about all we know.

Didn't Curbishley get an interview too?

Owen Coyle please. He doesn't seem to mind jumping ship from 1 club to another so we may be able to turn his head with the right offer and he may see Villa as a far better club to boost his profile and reputation with than Bolton.

Jesus. We really were scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Yes. Apparently he was interviewed twice.

Just had a very bizarre thought!... If we do end up having to replace GH there is one name i havn't heard mentioned & he could well be avaliable if his contract was bought out & his current employers would probably jump at the chance... He seems to like Villa Park too & he already knows loads of our players & indeed has them gelling very well already on the international stage! ....................................................................................................................................Fabio Cappello!

God no!

Houllier out!

Capello out!

Replace Houllier with a British manager.

Replace Capello with an English manager.

yes we get it, your racist. We've already had the British/foreign debate.. do you actually have an opinion on who exactly should get the job?

How am I racist?

Yes, here's my shortlist:

Moyes

Hughes

McClaren

Allardyce

Coyle

Curbishley

I'd say telling somebody they couldn't have a job because they were from the wrong country would constitute as racist, im sure as hell thats what the police would be telling me if I turned somebody down for a job because they were foreign.

/exaggerated hypothetical

Being British = Guaranteed Good Manager = No

Being French = Guaranteed Good Manager = No

Being Brazillian = Guaranteed Good Manager = No

Etc...Etc...

I just want a better manager than GH, which isn't really that difficult IMO!!

While there are others I'd prefer to Curbishley, he's hardly bottom of the barrel. Did a brilliant job for Charlton and was doing an excellent job at West Ham too. He doesn't really have any black marks against him as far as I can see... other than the bizarre attitude so prevalent on here that if a manager has never won honours with a big club then he can't be any good. Much like Allardyce, I suspect with decent resources at a decent size club (like Villa), he'd probably do pretty well. And I have absolutely no doubt he'd have done a far better job than Houllier.

But personally I'd take Moyes out of the realistic candidates for the job right now :D

To be fair, your relative Donald could have done a better job than GH this season Mr D.

:D

Just curious here... I see a number of people saying they wouldn't mind Hughes as manager. What do people see in Hughes? His track record is not exactly remarkable.
