Plenty of stars go to Liverpool and Manchester . Sure they don't live near the grounds but I think location is bye and large not important .

cant agree. Cant remember any established foreign star join either United or Liverpool in last 10-15 years except Veron and Morientes and maybe Tevez. Most of the talent they sign are on the way up Torres, Ronaldo, Suarez even Van Nistelrooy and Stam werent as well known when United splashed out on them

Depends on your definition of "foreign star" I guess.  I'd say all of those players you mentioned bar Ronaldo were very well known and sought after when they signed.  I'd add Laurent Blanc to that list, Owen Hargreaves too, he had a British passport but had never actually lived in England before Manchester United signed him.  Berbatov and Van Der Sar were definitely huge stars, but like Tevez they joined from another English club so you might be able to exclude them if you wanted to.

Robinho, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Aguero were certainly all superstars before  City signed them.

well they went for bigger contracts. I meant United or Liverpool never signed a world class foreign player in their prime a Figo, Zidane, Rivaldo even Ronaldinho turned them down.

Hey, what about Djemba-Djemba?

didnt blanc turn utd down year after year before finally signing when he was pretty much finished?

Blanc was 36 when he joined United, his legs had gone by Euro 2000 and was struggling for a game at Inter before Fergie snapped up his biggest mistake Stam for Blanc.

though Bland was unfairly criticized a lot but was the guy he replaced who caused most of it

How narrow will this criteria get? :D

They've never signed a world class foreign star from abroad in their prime aged between 28 and 32 with black hair who speaks english has a cousin named Jerry and likes Pizza...

I can't figure out what you're trying to say there. Is it that Blanc wasn't very good mainly because the man he replaced was excellent? Edited by dont_do_it_doug.

Blanc was OK but with zero pace for a league like Premier League but Stam carried an average United defence with players like Silvestre and Johnsen and lesser extent David May which Blanc couldnt do

QPR trying to sign BRidge. am sure he wont be on cheap wages

And scroteface says he'll walk if he isn't allowed to sign whoever he wants or if anyone else has any input into the transfers.

**** laughable that anyone would employ him.

fernandinho to man city

their poor spending looks set to continue

£34m apparently.. Seems far too much.. You'd like to hope that the new manager has said he wants these players... Still think Isco could also go there

City with a front 4 of Aguero, Silva, Isco and Navas, with Toure and Fernandinho will be some force next season. Barry could be off alongside Rodwell on loan, wouldn't have either back though.

If and it's a very big if, Jack Rodwell can get and stay fit then there is a terrific player there. Wouldn't mind him on loan with a view to sign but think the wages would be astronomical.

they need at least 1 striker too, id be very surprised if dzeko stays, guidetti maybe stepping up to be 4th choice, get cavani in and it'll be goals goals goals, still need a CB and a better LB too IMO, for those that cant see why mancini was sacked! all that money and yet IMO they dont have that great a squad, they need 4/5 players to compete for everything

anyone know what formation pellegrini plays?

They have a great squad already. They should be competing for the title even if they do not sign one player. Pellegrini can make 2 quality teams with all their players.

Malaga used the ever popular 4-2-3-1 last season.   They seemed to change quite freely between having a little man (Saviola) or a big man (Santa Cruz, on loan from and about to be released by Manchester City ironically enough) up front but neither was especially prolific.  They shared the goals around quite well though, everybody in midfield got their fair share.

They finished 6th in Spain last year, they probably should have finished in the top four but fell to pieces in the last six weeks or so of the season after they were eliminated from the Champions League quarter finals by Dortmund so cruelly with two injury time goals. They probably didn't care that much though because they are banned from Europe next season due to some kind of tax irregularity.  It wouldn't surprise me if their squad broke up over the summer because the European ban might extend into multiple seasons and most of their best players are over 30 (it wouldn't surprise me if they had a higher average age than Fulham, and that is saying something) and are probably unwilling to hang around so expect to see one or two follow Pellegrini to England, even if they don't join him at City.
