mockingbird_franklin
Great stuff from Lyth & Cook as they bring 150 up without loss
Rodders
looking like a very healthy performance for us. If the weather forecast is true, it would take something extraordinary to see us lose the match now. Glad Lyth is playing so well - looks completely at ease in this arena, hope they both make their centuries, have batted very well. New Zealand though evidently lacking a bit of extra depth in their bowling.
Rodders
ah - Cook out. I'll be shutting up then
mockingbird_franklin
ah - Cook out. I'll be shutting up then but at over half way to New Zealand's total, he's done his job, now for some of the players that haven't contributed enough lately to step up and make his hard work pay off. mockingbird_franklin
pushing on past 200 with only one down, pretty good day so far.
Rodders
splendid stuff, Ballance opening up now after some resilient defending. If NZ lose control here, we could get near 300 by the close
PaulC
or end up 5 down because we batted too slowly and lost wickets with the 2nd new ball
snowychap
splendid stuff, Ballance opening up now after some resilient defending. If NZ lose control here, we could get near 300 by the close Bloody hell, Rodders! Didn't you learn earlier?
mockingbird_franklin
Pretty important first session to day, Game is finely balanced after the fall of those 5 wickets in pretty quick succession late yesterday. We need Bell (especially) and Buttler to steady things see the session out and push us towards a first innings lead.

PaulC
8 down now. New Zealand have shown England how to bowl and field in these conditions.
wazzap24
Let's just hope we can get to 300 and hopefully the 'king of swing' might have an unplayable spell in these conditions.
OutByEaster? Posted May 31, 2015 Moderator Share Posted May 31, 2015 I think we'll need to bowl them out for about 170 to have a chance at this one. With the conditions as they are - the 75 run lead they've got now is huge.

PaulC
If the weather improves when we bat again and the sun is out, Headingly becomes a batting paradise.
