R.I.C.O.
Our players look like they don't care. Hardly celebrate goals anymore. Compare that to the hunger, desire and quality shown by Spurs lately and it's really quite alarming.[/quote Excellent point. Why is it we look like we are going through the motions? Have they given up on this season?
TheWalletInspector
Petrov is supposed to be a box to box player - he's about as much box to box as Cliff Richard Petrov hasn't been a box-to-box player for years. If anyone is meant to be a box-to-box player it's Milner. Or NRC? Mabye bench-to-bench
The_Steve
Well Spurs did just play two London derbies in a row and are probably going to care more about those matches then playing a relegated Portsmouth team.
drat01
why are people having a go at Petrov, we have been playing up the field, he plays DM, so is not going to see as much of the ball today, ha. Because again he is being shown up for the average player that he is. He offers little / nothing going forward. Some are now saying he's supposed to be the "destroyer" but still teams waltz through us like Stevie Wonder at a Red light. He's supposed to be the captain, a leader both by example and by motivation. Neither of which he has shown again so far today. He has to raise his game a lot in the second half

JB
Its just the same predictable football from the same predictable team from our predictable manager. Not good enough, really not good enough that first 45 minutes. Nail on the head there. We're appear utterly devoid of alternative ideas.

claret75
If would dont sell Petrov in the summer i might cry. Why are people on here saying we look poor going forward today? I think we look like scoring 3 or 4. We shouldve scored 3 already.
drat01
I see the knives are out for Petrov again. ridiculous statement - I am only slightly surprised you didn't use the word scapegoat. Can't people post what they think on the players performances or is Petrov as one of MON's magic X1 beyond any sort of scrutiny? Let's hope he can raise his game second half to repay the faith of some and to show that the first half was not the real player eh?
Guest Ricardomeister
Don't worry, I can feel a complete change in tactics on 70 mins when Heskey will come on for Carew, and then an even bigger masterstoke when Sidwell comes on after 88 mins :winkold:
rjshare
No idea up front. Just can't see us winning this. As said before this is a game where both sets of players know their season is over. Going through the motions. well if i was the villa manager they would find out within seconds of walking into the dressing room at half time that the season isnt over. when we werent in the uefa cup it was the holy grail, now we have got there a couple of times we are playing like we deliberately dont want to qualify for it. yes martin, it will mean more games - AND MORE MONEY. TrentVilla Posted April 18, 2010 Moderator Share Posted April 18, 2010 45 minutes and 5 shots in total, now granted all 5 were on target but 5 shots (one a penalty which didn't go in) in 45 minutes against a relegated side with a kid in the back four. Yet some seem to think we've been doing well or good going forward. Christ. This Pompey team is **** shite and we've managed 5 efforts on goal in 45 minutes. Utter shite. PilkyMakinMusik
as others have said its quite alarming how often the ball just goes out to the wings and is then lost or delivered poorly. With Jimmy in the middle you'd think he'd find some space there and link up with the front 2 but it never happens. Also agree completly with the seeming lack of effort or desire, this match looks like the easiest 3 points of the season, should have it wrapped up by now, doesn't bode well for other more difficult games coming up. Pilchard
Urfa cup means nothing to the manager or players. Said we'd finish 8th since Xmas and still think it
