Stevo985 Posted February 9, 2011 Author VT Supporter Share Posted February 9, 2011 Yeh with pumps it's fine. And for normal use it's fine. But, I'm no fashion expert, but when I see people out with blue jeans and black shoes I think it looks crap, maybe that's just me. Oh, I've just thought of something for the "piss you off" thread. Those jeans with the elasticated leg bottoms. RIDICULOUS!
wiggyrichard
Im still here. We have had a few bad debts in the last 12 months (to the tune of £170k), so times are tough. We have loads of work on but with a hole of £170k and very very tight prices in the industry its all about cashflow issues. Anyway, it was just to talk about the struggles ahead etc. cutting and managing costs.

theunderstudy
I wear pumps a bit as well, usually with darker jeans though.

mjmooney Posted February 9, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted February 9, 2011 What ARE pumps, these days? I believe US in usage they are quite dressy ladies' shoes. In the UK, the term seems to have been refined into trainers, tennis shoes or baseball boots (which used to be called bumpers in my day, but are now I believe "converse", or some such?) Or gym shoes (those elasticated black slip-ons that primary school kids wear). Where does that leave pumps?
theunderstudy
Par example.
ME
^^^^ I was getting really concerned for the fellas because they are still very much considered high heels here. So it was painting a really interesting picture for me. And I'm glad all is well Wiggy!

mjmooney Posted February 9, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted February 9, 2011 Fair enough. Fashion version of tennis shoes, really. I think I'm still stuck in an era where shoes were made of leather, and any other sort were purely for sports use.

AVFC-Prideofbrum
I dislike anything else. No one in our group wears proper shoes, a few wear more of the boot type things but that's not for me.

Milfner
I don't see the point in wearing anything other than pumps. They are like £10 and last a couple of months. TUS, please don't say you own those orange ones...
theunderstudy
Not the ones I posted. One of the pairs I have have orange laces which are fairly amusing.
