KentVillan
As per the title, which clubs have the best data / analytics / scouting teams in club football in England and worldwide? And why do you think that?
El Zen
Brentford seem to be getting a couple of things right.
Zatman
Atalanta have always had a great youth set up but now have a pretty impressive scouting range to go with it. Sevilla are probably a top tier system as well. Udinese were also great for that before they went to Watford. Brighton/Brentford arent far behind but they are levels below Atalanta/Sevilla Red Bull teams are probably the best organised overall but they are well funded compared to the rest
TheAuthority Posted December 28, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted December 28, 2022 Part of it also has to be the culture that you create around the youth/pre-1st team situation. Chelsea seem to go out and get tons of top youth talent but how many actually graduate to the 1st team? Plus when you are scouting for the 1st team (ala Brighton & Brentford) you have to have a strong football philosophy and and continuation between managers. Sadly at AVFC we seem to have lurched around a lot (anyone remember Paddy O'Reily?) even under our present (admittedly wonderful) owners. Bruce to Dean (1st with ROK & JT) then Dean with Shakespeare, then Gerrard , and now finally with a top European coach. I hope that Unai's tenure ends with him moving into a Director of Football position not with the sack because results aren't going his way. Stevo985 Posted December 28, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted December 28, 2022 In English football it’s Brentford without question
OutByEaster? Posted December 28, 2022 Moderator Share Posted December 28, 2022 I guess it depends to an extent what it is you want that team to do. Brentford's team do well for them, Brighton's is excellent, but you couldn't just take that and transplant it to Chelsea. Horse for courses.
villa4europe
Agree you can't transplant it Also think that football is so big and wide that it's hard to say who does the complete package Chelsea dominated youth level in the UK for a decade, until they got PL status Brentford didn't have an U23s team We seem to be nailing the scouting at youth level but struggling to find the gems we all want at first team level More than anything else the question says to me that no one is absolutely brilliant at it and despite how easy it can be made out to be in the transfer threads it's really really **** hard!

They've just signed David Beckhams kid Romeo on loan for the season to their B-team.
