They've never won a Bundesliga.

sne Posted Monday at 11:33 Share Posted Monday at 11:33 Real Madrid has decided to no go to the FIFA Club WC monstrosity next season in the US. Apparently they are not the only club not interested in going. Good on them, FIFA can go f themselves.

Apparently Madrid make 20 million a game but will only get 20 million for the entire tournament

Stupid bloated nothing of a tournament. Edit: Also a perfect example of how broken football is when $20m is not worth it to some clubs but would make some other clubs dominant in their leagues for decades. OutByEaster? Posted Monday at 16:00 Moderator Share Posted Monday at 16:00 If they don't take part they should be removed from the Champions league. It's time the game got a grip on power mad clubs - I know FIFA and UEFA are awful, but Euopres big clubs are a bunch of self serving psychos.

sne Posted Monday at 16:08 Share Posted Monday at 16:08 The FIFA WC shouldn't have 32 clubs in it and top players shouldn't be expected to play 75-80 games a season. Obviously the clubs, agents, FIFA, UEFA and some players only see money. But the number of games has to drop.

It will take a player to die on the pitch before its changed I can also see players retire earlier or move to Saudi at around 30
OutByEaster? Posted Tuesday at 16:21 Moderator Share Posted Tuesday at 16:21 The problem is twofold - firstly that the same clubs shouldn't be in the finals of every single competition year after year - if we had more competitive competitions, the games would be spread out between more teams. And secondly and most importantly, we have too many entities competing for the money - The Premier League (which is the Premier League clubs) want a massive share, the FA need the FA cup as it's the only funding they get, the EFL needs every penny they can find and needs the league cup, UEFA needs three tournaments to generate the TV income it wants to keep itself important and FIFA needs the World Club Cup because they increasingly need more than just the World Cup money to finance their aims. None of those stakeholders can afford to take a step back - for each of them, not having their competition, and indeed not trying to grow their competition, would be an existential threat. TV also needs all of those games - we're used to being able to watch a game every single day between August and May - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, whatever - there is a demand for product and TV pays It's really hard to see how you make less games unless one of the sports major bodies folds.
