Demitri_C
seems the fat pron dwarf would rather spend his money elsewhere taht the blosers! David Sullivan rescues the Daily Sport Pornography entrepreneur David Sullivan has come to the rescue of Sport Media Group plc (AIM: SPMG), publisher of the Manchester-based Daily Sport and Sunday Sport newspapers which he used to own. The company said today that Sullivan, who sold the newspapers for £50m in September 2007, was coming back as honorary publisher and would “assist with efforts to increase circulation and profitability”. Sport Media admitted in December that it had breached a banking covenant and said it was putting itself up for sale. Sullivan and Gold Group International Ltd is providing a £1.68m loan for the next 18 months, which has enabled the cash-strapped company to agree new long term banking facilities. In return, Sullivan has been granted options over 9.68 million shares, or 9.99 per cent of the share capital, at 3.5p each. Chairman David Bailey said: “These loans will enable the group to effect a restructuring and reorganisation of the Sport Newspaper business to restore it to profitability.” He also warned of a “significant cost reduction plans across all areas”. Sport Media, which also owns the magazines including Front and provides adult digital content for internet and mobile channels, today also reported a pre-tax loss of £1.89m in the six months to January 31 compared with a £2.32m profit last time. Turnover was down 19 per cent to £11.7m. Underlying operating profit, before amortisation of intangible assets of £800,000, share based payment charges of £900,000, reorganisation and re-launch costs of £500,000, depreciation and interest ) fell to £600,000 compared with £3.3m in the prior year. Bailey said the newspapers were profitable and sales were “reasonably steady” until November 2008 when a price war broke out in the Red Top tabloid market. The economic slowdown then led to a big falls in circulation and advertising revenue, resulting in trading losses. He added: “Although circulation has stabilised in recent months, advertising remains sluggish, and while management has been working on cost savings, losses have continued, albeit at reduced levels. “The re-organisation of the business, reflecting a re-negotiated print contract and a further reduction in staffing levels, is expected to restore the business to consistent profitability at current circulation and advertising levels as a result of the substantial and sustainable costs savings that are being implemented with immediate effect.” He said the NetCollex adult content business remained profitable but declined in line with the lower circulation figures of the newspapers which are its primary marketing tool. Haha even their owner knows there shit!
