I'm not sure what their contract situation is, will be tough for either to make it with our first team though, also doesn't help that both seem quite injury prone. Probably a chance that some of them will be released or allowed to leave in the summer, Zito has already had a trial with Stoke.

We play Palace today in the U18 Premier League Cup, it's a bit of a nothing game in terms of the competition because having lost to both Liverpool and Man City in the other two games we can't qualify for knockout rounds, but still in a way I think every game at U18 level will have some use in terms of development...

Zych, Rhoades, Munroe, Alcock, Barber, Hart, Ted Rowe, Tommi O'Reilly, Afoka, Reddin, Sewell

Subs: Hammond, Pierre, Pavey, Barnes, Burchall

Good to see Burchall back, he had been out for five or six weeks... will be a tough game based on that team, no specialist centre-backs in either the starting line-up or on the bench.

The good news is at least it looks like Burchall and Chrisene are back for the FA Youth Cup, will be two important players if we're to have any kind of a chance.

Can you just turn up and buy tickets on the door for the Youth Cup match?

I've no idea sorry. It's not been confirmed where the game will be played yet, usually they like to play FA Youth Cup home games at Villa Park. I imagine once they decide where it's going to be played they will release details.

Yep, it's unusual that they've not put any detail out by now. The FA like these games played at the main ground of the home team, so they'll want it at Villa Park, but whether we'll be trying to push it to Bodymoor I don't know. I suspect it'll end up at Villa Park, and given the almost peculiar levels of demand to see our youth teams this season, I'm surprised there's no ticketing news yet with just ten days to go.

We won't be meeting small heath in the FA Youth Cup this season, they lost 5-1 at home to Blackburn yesterday, one of our younger academy teams beat them 9-1 the other day as well in the Premier League Cup.

It's really hard to judge how well we will get on against Leicester, they're doing much better than us in the league, but if we want to we can play pretty much the U23 defence in the Cup, and given it's defensively where the U18s have been struggling, that could improve us greatly, have a feeling that Bogarde will play in midfield as well, maybe partly why he played there against Charlton for the U23s.

We won't be as strong attack wise as last season without Aaron Ramsey, Barry, Young, and I doubt Chukwuemeka will play either as will probably be seen as being against the spirit of the competition to play a first team player in what is meant to be a tournament for U18 academy players, but Afoka, Burchall, Reddin, and Sewell when fit have been doing okay at U18 level.

One thing with Leicester is that most of their U23s are mostly older players, so I don't think they will have the option of using many of them against us in a U18 competition.

That makes me more nervous for the Leicester game now, if we can just get past them then we will have an excellent chance of beating Crewe to get to the fifth round. Not knowing who from the U23s is going to play makes it hard to imagine how we might get on, just have to hope that we can pick a team that will improve our defence significantly from the league form, if we can do that we might have a chance, U18s have scored 28 goals in 10 games in the league, only the top two have scored more, only problem is they've also conceded 33.

By comparison Leicester have only conceded 11 in the league, fewer goals than any other team, and have scored 22, which isn't as many as us, but also have to take into consideration that 10 of our goals came against Norwich in one game, who are the one team that have conceded more goals than us. They've also won five of their last six, and drew the other game.

It's going to be a question of how much of a difference the U23s 'dropping down' can make, a back five of Zych, Ealing, Feeney, Swinkels, Patterson, with Bogarde and Chrisene playing in midield would probably give us a chance, but whether we will keep all of them back for tomorrow is another matter, at least one of Patterson, Chrisene, or Swinkels will probably have to play this evening otherwise not sure who would play left-back.
