That's two women's singles finals now that have just been an utter spanking.

Wimbledon yes but we had a fantastic final between Sharopova and Halep in the French...If one player plays really well and the other freezes a bit 2 sets isn't long enough...

This is a classic men's Wimbledon final.

2 sets all, after Federer saved the set from championship point down.

both players giving it their all!

certainly more value for money than yesterdays final.

Woah... what a final. Far more quality than last year. Federer will be missed when the sands of time run out for him on a tennis court.

Felt like a last hurrah to me, shame he couldn't quite get ahead in that fifth set. But then I've written Fed off before and he's comeback.

Kudos to Nole, had some tough final losses in the last few years and this one would've probably topped it off. Hopefully with this boost in confidence he can start beating Nadal again....

Chuffed for Djokovic, he does seem to lose a lot of finals.

Fed said see you next year.  Surely that will be his last?  He does deserve to be the first to get 8 championships.

As long as he stays healthy (and Federer never gets injured) he's stated he wants to play in the Rio 2016 Olympics so with the U.S open a few weeks after that, that will probably be his swansong so probably two more Wimbledons.

The concern I had last year was if losing in the 2nd or 3rd round was to become the norm how long would Federer want to play on but this year he's got to the Wimbledon final and AO semi final so still a factor at the business end of slams which is good to see.

Yes you never know. He strolled to the final. Theres only Dimitrov from the younger players I see as a slam winner next season. will Murray ever get back to where he was and will Nadal sacrifice a French so he can be 100% for Wimbledon...Onto the US Open and Djokovic will be brimming with confidence now..

It was and he won the US OPEN at a young age... Bad wrist injury though! Wawrinka has been dissapointing since the Aussie Open. Raonic is a bit of a one trick pony....Theres a couple of other young players like NishiKori and Dolgopolov who look pretty good

Have to say aswell it's unreal Murray is now 10th in the world rankings, hasn't been this low since 2008.

Surprised it's happened as he didn't play French in 2013 and made the semis this year so you'd think he'd gain loads of points there and it wasn't like he was knocked out of Wimbledon at 2nd round. Del Potro despite being j=injured and making the semis last year is still above him!

That will be interesting for U.S open, unlikely he's going to be a top 4 seed now so there's going to be a heavyweight quarter final match.

Yes he didn't play after the US Open until The Australian open so he lost a load of points there and his atp tour event results have been poor.. Obviously the points dfference from quarters to winning is massive.

Murray I think is going to struggle if he sticks with Mauresmo, he needs to get back to winning ways soon.

He has not won a tournament since Wimbledon last year which is very very poor, despite his injury.

If he doesn't get it together soon he is really going to struggle to win a grand slam in the near future.

Djokovic is one of the best tennis players in the world and seems to have finally got the monkey off his back in terms of losing finals.

Federer has shown at Wimbledon that he has still got it even if he is getting on a bit.

Nadal has got the French all but sorted every year and has proved he can still win on other surfaces besides clay- US open last year as an example.

Then the likes of Warwinka, Dimitrov, Del Potro, Nishikori are all going to provide very tough tasks in future grand slams aswell.

Murray lost 1640 pts in this event alone and drops to about 3000 pts... Just to show the difference. Djokovich is now on over 13000 pts and Nadal about 12,700. federer and Wawrinka are on just over 6000 pts...So the gap between the top 2 and the rest is massive.....and Djokovic can gain even more points on Nadal now because Nadal had a 100% record up until after the US Open....Murray has every opportunity to gain a lot of points from now until the end of the season. I think he will be back in the top 4 by the tour finals..
