Oh yes! I pretty much love everything she's done. I'll check the album out, thanks. I found someone else on VT who likes her stuff :). There's at least 3 of us now, with @cyrusr.

According to her Instagram she is dropping a new song or video tomorrow.

Edit: Might be something she is producing or directing but she's involved in some fashion.

Album out later this year @blandy

Anna von Hausswolff has announced that she’ll release a new album later this year.

The follow-up to 2018’s Dead Magic is titled All Thoughts Fly and it’ll launch on September 25 through Southern Lord.

Unlike von Hausswolff’s other albums, All Thoughts Fly will be fully instrumental, with the entire record consisting of just one instrument, the pipe organ.

Deftones, that takes me back.  Not listened to them since the 90's. Adrenaline and Around the Fur were both great albums.

Anyone remember Pulkas? Think they only dropped 1 album, it's called Greed.

@cyrusr seen the abuse/rape allegations coming out over the last few days about Holy Roar's owner?  Rolo Tomassi have severed ties with the label, most of the staff have quit and the rest of the roster are looking like following.  Nasty stuff if true, sadly.

Yeah I saw it last night. As a HR subscriber it absolutely sucks as that was the best way to support the bands. That will now get cancelled... Such a shame as its a really cracking label that gave a lot of chances to bands. Hopefully he will resign and let Justine and the others run it (unlikely as its his label really) or they will pick up all of the bands that were on HR on a new label.

I know people in a few of the bands on HR and I'm not surprised by their unequivocal response.

There are bigger issues right now of course but I'm gutted for Svalbard and Palm Reader with new albums coming. I've got about 70 quid's worth of PR preorder stuff tied up and I won't be the only one.

How they unravel that with a month to go I've no idea.

Holy Roar is done. Alex now says he's "resigned" from his businesses, whatever that means when it's his business. I hope Justine can front a new label because she's **** brilliant at it. Sammy would be as well, that would be something.

Anyway, I saw a tweet from one of the survivors who came forward. What she said just reaffirms that the response from the staff and the bands has been the right thing to do. There are people in some of those bands who wear this cause on their sleeves. They'll be devastated.

Yeah this confuses me, if the owner and all the staff have resigned, then who’s running the label?!

I don’t think the rest of the staff are done and I think we will have a new label shortly where all of these bands rock up. Whilst Alex was the founder, Justine it seems has been the one running the label for a few years. I really don’t think they need Alex.

Ihsahn's new EP "Pharos" is pretty spectacular:

Includes covers of Portishead & Ah Ha(!). More in line with Ulver's new album rather than his EP earlier this year (Telemark). Which reminds me of a piece that I read on Guardian's website the over day about the new releases from Ulver, Ihsahn and Enslaved and their move from the traditional "black metal" sound:

'Aggression, but also fragility': how Norwegian black metal grew up. In particular when they speak about the infamous "Helvete" record shop:

Quote

...

Ihsahn, however, now blends black metal with jazz and progressive music. Ulver specialise in a depressive twist on 80s-style pop, and Enslaved’s eclectic approach is self-described as “all the favourites in your record collection in one cohesive mass”. The latter two regard their leftfield musical turns as extensions of the diverse darkness they first heard in Helvete.

Ulver’s Rygg says the shop “wasn’t strictly metal, more the aesthetics of it. Helvete was a starting point for many of these things, but that leaves you to explore the takeaways yourself.” He says that stagnating in one style “is very anti-black metal. Bands like Enslaved and Emperor expanded quite quickly, going quite a long way from those rough demo tapes.”

“Euronymous would have totally loved where we are now, combining all these elements,” Bjørnson adds. “If you compare us with the essence of black metal, its lawlessness and rejecting convention, then we’re more black metal than a lot of black metal. It angers me that black metal went on to be a pissing contest when it can be a much more exciting art form.”
