Israel, Palestine and Iran

Worth keeping in mind 6000 is the number being given by Hamas, the same terrorist organisation which falsely claimed 471 people were killed in collapsed hospital - which never happened. No doubt civilians have been killed in Gaza, but 6000 is almost certainly complete BS.

In other news there’s now been 13 attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria over recent days by Iranian proxy militias. The US has 86,000 passport holders in Lebanon and 600,000 in Israel. They are trying to move assets into place to get those people out, but are facing the largest non-combat evacuation in history.

The IDF wants to go into Gaza after Hamas, but when it does Hezbollah enters the chat and those US civilians in Lebanon are like ripe fruit for further hostage taking - in addition to attempting the overrunning of various US bases. The tension between those competing national priorities is very real, but if Israel holds off long enough for the US to try and get it’s nationals out, they can expect unwavering US support to then go after Hamas.

Interestingly, Macron has called today for an extension of the mandate of international coalition to fight ISIS being extended to include the destruction of Hamas.  Zero chance of that happening as it includes Arab states, but it’s a weird flex.

On Macron - one thing going around is that the Hamas attackers took the same drugs Captagon in order to carry out the attacks on October 7.

Certainly a lot of the hallmarks of IS about the whole thing.

It’s about time Israel taught the UN a lesson.

They manage to blow up their facilities and kill their staff with regularity.

Some might say they're already teaching them a lesson.

Captagon

It's the amphetamine of choice in the Middle East, I wouldn't read too much into it. Assad made more money than the Mexican Cartels out of it. It's not an indicator of anything, it's use is that widespread.

DJBOB is correct that its use in endemic in militant groups when they fight, and there were lots of rumours that Saudi personnel were on it during their offensives in Yemen.

I thought he implying that Macron was a user, which would help to make sense of his statement.

No no, that’s Hamas’s fault. There was a leaflet drop and everything.

Anybody that didn’t leave was a terrorist. Anybody that thinks this started before 7th October is a terrorist sympathiser.

The world is binary now.

Oh I know.

We know that secretly everyone that has a modicum of concern for the civilians of an abused and increasingly erased nation is actually supporting murderous terrorists so we must also play a game of condemnation to frame the debate first, too.

You have the UN chief pointing out the plight of the Palestinians and in kind the Israelis calling for him to resign. The government of Israel simply do not understand how the rest of the world view this situation - I have no idea if that is their arrogance or that they just cannot imagine why anybody would empathise with the Palestinians.

Israel have a program of very aggressively attacking anything that sympathises with Palestine or criticises Israel. They have trained "debaters" who immediately react and attack whoever dared say something they don't like. Words like Nazi, Holocaust, Terrorist, anti-semitic are trotted out over and over again to make people scared to fight back for fear of being labelled a jew hater. It's been a well established government policy for decades. Media outlets never have to look hard for an Israeli spokesman.

Yep, all I was saying was that it's use isn't an indicator of any allegiance or similarity, even that scumbag that killed 80 people in Nice on Bastille Day was thought to be on it.

Assad is the biggest producer and both sides in Syria will have fighters on it, which is sort of darkly amusing.

I think there is also just an innate inability to see the world any differently. Yes it's a very effective media operation (as witnessed by anybody backing a recent socialist candidate for PM) but I get the impression that the Gaza Palestinian problem was in the eyes of the Israeli gov, a forgotten problem. The lapse of security that missed the planning and execution of the Hamas attack spoke of a government that had written off the issue - forgotten the 2 million odd people that are squeezed into that strip. That anyone thought to hold a rave 2 km from the border of Gaza feels as though they hadn't considered the geography a security issue. And now that the world is saying hey what about the people of Gaza - well the Israeli gov still appear to be saying - so what?.

Agreed. I have an old fashioned belief that doing drugs and handling firearms at the same time is poor risk management.

You don’t have to look very hard - or very far - for anti-semites, either.

Yah they are in a broader sense of the conflict and i dont care about any side who does that. I think Israel main cause is to try to survive and defend their land from parties countries who dont like Israel existing. I really dont think that israel main thinking right now is that we were here 2000 years ago so we justified or entitled to that or that.

I think that not every nation deserves a country. I think if you let people choose and the only thing they can do is elect the government with a purpose of terrorizing and attacking their neighbor maybe that country should not exist.

Oh wow, you now sound like Hamas.

kinda ironic, no?

The purpose of the posters is to incite a furious reaction which is then to be captured on video and posted online in an attempt to say ‘seeeee.. I told you so.’

That’s the point.

The people tearing them down are stupid for

a) Not accepting these people are victims of a crime

b) for falling into the trap.
