It’s good news that the families on holiday nearby were not hurt.

Edit: Just for clarification, I don’t want innocent families to be hurt, I just get very angry that people choose to go to a warzone which was stolen from the neighbour on holiday.

Canada has become embroiled in an escalating political controversy after members of its House of Commons were encouraged to join in a standing ovation for an individual who fought in Ukraine with a Nazi military unit accused of war crimes during the second world war.

Images from the Canadian parliament showed Zelenskiy and the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, standing and applauding Hunka, in scenes condemned by Jewish groups. As lawmakers cheered, Zelenskiy raised his fist in acknowledgment as Hunka saluted from the gallery during two separate standing ovations.

So the first Abrams have arrived in Ukraine, and will start reinforcing Ukraine's assault units.

Meanwhile losses of Western MBTs are pretty much down to zero. Ukraine have started using them as long range snipers rather than offensive tools and it seems to be working.

Yesterday parts of Verbove and Novoprokopivka were liberated, these two towns will likely fall within short order. Both are part of the 'last' defensive Surovikin line.

Apparently the Leopard is streets ahead of any Russian tanks when fighting at range.  Particularly at night and in poor visibility,

The Challenger is proving to be near indestructable.  The recent publicised "burning challenger" shed a track and was abandoned by the crew.  It was hit by Russian fire but has been recovered with repairable damage.

Let's see how Colonel Abrams performs?  I hope none get trapped. 🤦‍♂️

I read maybe 10 days ago that 16 Leopards had been destroyed and a challenger also taken out. As a consequence the Ukraine forces had stopped using them to advance and were back to mostly night time, on foot, creeping across fields, demining as they inch forwards. Seems like there is a way to go before the tanks are fully useful, rather than being used as artillery.

Yep, and 3 or 4 of the leo's that were destroyed was in 'that' convoy on the way to the front.

Western MBT losses are down to about zero as they're not being used at the front, as you say.

Some shenanigans ongoing ref the blowing up of the Navy HQ at the weekend. The admiral who Ukraine say they was killed appears in a video of a meeting Russia say happened today.

Shenanigans or not the HQ got blown up so job done. Infrastructure and logistics is all Ukrainians need to concentrate on. Reduce Russia's ability to wage war is the only way of ending the war. Russians would role out Igor from a Burger King in Moscow and promote him to an admiral if they needed to. What they cant just do is replace the infrastructure they're using to attack Ukraine.

Also, the important staff, the ones with an operational practical brain, not the admiral will have been in that building. These are far more valuable assets to take out

The Captain of the Moskva and the crew were shown on TV the day after the Moskva sank.  Several of those shown are still "missing".

This is quite an interesting tale.

Several of the sailors in the video were recognised by family.  A few days later they were told that their relative was "Absent - location unknown".  This is very different to "Missing in action " or ""Missing - presumed dead".  It's more akin to being "Absent without leave".

Months later they were deemed "Missing - presumed dead" by a judge who ruled they were probably killed by the mishandling of ammunition.

UK naval sources said the Russian Navy doesn't invest in damage control systems that would have saved the ship. Apparently a UK ship of the same type has an automated firefighting system that would have activated within 1 second of the strike.  The loaded missiles would have been automatically jettisoned once the fire spread towards them.

But most importantly the Uk navy gives its sailors shoes with heat resistant soles.  Russia doesn't.  Many of the Moskva crew would have been running over red hot decking in bare feet as their shoes melted away.

We learnt a lot from the Falklands.

Unlike Russia who've learnt nothing from all their disastrous attempts at war.

Oh, they've learnt a lot. They've done a heck of a lot of adapting and changing tactics and so on. What they are less able to do while it's all going on is to upgrade their kit quickly enough.
