The ISIS threat to Europe

Another one. This isn’t random, there is a clear pattern of targeting Christian clergy in France to provoke a reaction against Muslims. This is how Al Qaeda in Iraq started that country’s civil war, but instead of Christians they targeted Shia Muslims.

A Pakistani politician and Islamic scholar has called on his country to nuke France over the cartoon row. The same government that said it has no problem with China herding millions of Muslims into concentration camps, sterilising Muslim women, destroying 100’s of mosques and using Muslims as slave labour in Xinjiang.

Yeah, reasonable response that 🙄

Has it somehow escaped him that Pakistan would then be nuked in retaliation?

Just polishing his anti-Western, anti-Christian credentials and trying to incite more violence.

Only shared it to support the point that much of the ‘clash of civilisations’ stuff is being promoted, financed and coordinated by states for political reasons.

There is no distinction. Army, ISI, terrorists, politicians. All part of the same ecology.

Pretty clear from the videos going around Twitter of Vienna that these are trained men who have killed before, it’s nothing like the young-refugee-with-a-knife attacks hitting France.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they are alumni from Idlib, Syria, facilitated by a certain NATO ally looking to make a point.

Grim scenes.

I don’t want to play anything down because people have lost their lives but how can multiple, heavily armed attackers in a major city centre only manage to kill 4 people?

Quiet streets, police reaction, improvised attack* and no telling how many of the 14 now in hospital will sadly pass away.

*at least one attacker went to the main synagogue but it was closed and empty. Quite a few plots are disrupted because people on watch lists are observed doing reconnaissance on potential targets, if that hasn’t happened here it suggests improvisation (i.e. go out into the streets and start shooting), perhaps because Vienna was being put into lockdown this morning. That decision may have disrupted an existing plan.

Vienna got very lucky. Could easily have been more like Paris 2015, or Mumbai.

Weren't both the recent incidents in Nice and Vienna just before a national lockdown?

As we go into lockdown on Thursday, I wouldn't aim to be out in a busy area on Wednesday night. The UK has just raised its threat level.

You’ve more chance of being knocked down by a mobile Covid testing truck. The alert level shift reflects fear of copycat attacks, there’s no specific threat.

The idea is that the bad guys were planning something for the next few weeks but because lockdown was called they had to rush out their plan whilst there were still people about.

No Europe but a group related to ISIS/Daes/Boko Haram/Al-Shabbab in Mozambique has captured and beheaded something like 100 people in 2 or more attacks.

As always the details are not clear but apparently they are flying an ISIS flag and aim to behead 270 people to avenge a previous incident.
