theunderstudy
I don't think the smiths are all that but the xx have just been hyped up beyond belief to what Is essentially the same monotone song over and again sung by a depressing trio who don't deserve to carry the indie tag. mjmooney Posted March 16, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted March 16, 2011 I've never even heard of The XX, but they are loads better than The Smiths. It's a given.
GarethRDR
A bunch of uninspiring generic hipsters they may be, but there are far worse bands than The xx.

rjw63
Robin Trower, "Bridge of Sighs". Sick of hearing that on Planet Rock, its as if its the only thing he ever recorded. Oh and hello Wurzel

bickster Posted March 16, 2011 Moderator Share Posted March 16, 2011 Masters of War - Anika. A cover of the Dylan song by some half German / half American political journalism student who teamed up with Geoff Barrow's (he of Portishead) other band BEAK> to produce quite a fascinating album, part Jah Wobble (PIL Era) basslines, part Nico. Definitely Post Punk, definitelty interesting. Some good covers on the album too

GarethRDR
Oxide and Neutrino? Ah, they're not a band as such; merely a blended mixture of feces and expelled uterus matter.
AVFC-Prideofbrum
I am enjoying the work of Boyce Avenue at the minute, talented sods. Although don't really do their own songs, just covers....but still, I don't mind that at all, still very good.
