LondonLax
Its annoying how many people chase to ignore the punch he clearly gives. I'd love the FA to say, tell you what, we're going to extend the ban in light of the 2 serious offences. I can't see any punch in that gif. No closed fist anywhere, perhaps there is another angle showing it? It looks like he is trying to get Flores off him, he shoves him away and flails his arms around trying to get clear then Flores goes down when he bruses across his head. A harsh red card. VT Supporter Stevo985 Posted February 7, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 7, 2014 I'm not sure there's a punch either. But doesn't change my opinion. Harsh red card, but that doesn't mean it was wrong.
LondonLax
No I agree, you can see why the ref might give it but we'd be livid as well if it happened to Benteke.
Zatman
dont FIFA have a law against clubs taking legal action in cases instead of going through the proper channels and they usually take it out on the FA

Just as Flore's feet hit the ground and the ref crosses their path in the shot Carroll clearly brings his right arm back and jabs it forward quickly towards Flores waist. The referee raises a find right after the punch. Then he swings his arm and catches him in the head.
ArteSuave
Its not a punch though is it? If someone can link the vine that chico tweeted on Feb 1 you can see its an openhanded push on his hip at most. Still violent conduct for trying to hit him with the other swing. VillaForever1970
So obviously what will happen is he’ll play against us and blatantly score.Any player in the public eye, either for not scoring for a long time, needs to break a record, or shouldn’t be playing etc etc are always nailed on to score when they play us. Its in the rules.
VT Supporter Nigel Posted February 7, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 7, 2014 Go on FA, open pandoras box! Im going to sue them for wrecking my Christmas by not giving us the points we needed against Crystal Palace.
LondonLax
Looks more like a shove to me as well. I don't see any punch. The ref was probably just telling them both to calm down until he sends him off for the flailing arm. Edited February 7, 2014 by LondonLax

VT Supporter Stevo985 Posted February 7, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I think Webb pointing is signalling for the free kick that he's blown for. he's given the free kick to Carrol because Flores is all over him. VT Supporter Stevo985 Posted February 7, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 7, 2014 According to the FA, West Ham failed to prove to a three-man panel that referee Howard Webb had made "an obvious error" in dismissing the forward, whose arm hit Flores on the top of his head as he tried to untangle himself following an aerial challenge. I don't see how they can prove that, arbitration or no arbitration.
The_Steve
Still violent conduct with the final swing. Pathetic reconsideration from the FA.
VT Supporter Genie Posted February 7, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Lambert is right, reconsidering this is a very dangerous thing to do.West Ham are in a real risk of relegation because they are shite. Their league placing should have no bearing on individual decisions of cards or appeals. Edited February 7, 2014 by Tamuff_Villa
Con
https://vine.co/v/MzX1J6Yx3gF It wasn't a punch, just a push.. The punch looks less violent in this shot - the intention is there, it is a closed fist just weak-wristed because he is so close to Flores - but the arm swing looks far worse. this guy thought there should be a card for something
Con
I think Webb pointing is signalling for the free kick that he's blown for. he's given the free kick to Carrol because Flores is all over him. he raises his finger then extends his arm in one "off" motion? actually that could also be a free kick, and then he reacts to the arm swing. coda
Is the oaf playing against us tomorrow? What a despicable club from top to bottom. I think Allardyce will keep them up, unfortunately.
ArteSuave
Amazing. If one person could be counted on to continue to call that push a punch after clear evidence to the contrary... If that is a punch then there are roughly 300 punches thrown at every corner.
