  1. Cannot see any mention of wireless charging which is a huge miss for me.
  2. Lollipop announced with Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Player
  3. The Nest thermostat is boringly simple and just works. We need to let it learn our schedule for the first week before it starts doing its smart stuff but its interesting to log in and see when the heating was on and for how long. Once it has started being truly smart I can start playing around with geofencing and possible use of IFTTT. We have also got some Philips Hue Lamps which after the initial playing around with colours we now have set and controlled by IFTTT to come on first thing in the morning for an hour and again at sunset which proved really useful on Monday as we were later getting back than expected and would have usually arrived back to a house in total darkness, but they had switched on automatically. I would like to be able to tie all this in with some kind of smart house security but I need to further research
  4. Because where else are they going to innovate, Screen resolution is higher than is useful, battery life cannot improve massively and cameras will not get better with the increase of megapixels. Apple, Samsung, LG and HTC will all want to get 64bit handsets out asap, not in 2- 3 years because by that time they will be left behind. The OS for Apple and Android are unified so a 64 bit OS isnt just about the mobile in your pocket its the ipad and the tablet you use and it will be interesting to see how the announcements in the next 48 hrs will pan out on that front.
  5. Look out for a blog post from Google with an interesting announcement tomorrow
  6. I now have Nest Thermostat installed and it does look a very smart bit of kit. it appears to be very easy to program either from the app or vie the website. As we had only had a timer on our boiler we at least should see some savings as it will switch off when it reaches the desired temp. At the moment it doesn't do geofencing out of the box but has a sensor which will switch you to away after a set time. I am looking at utilising IFTT and either life360 to do somekind of geofencing as I am on Android but my wife is on iphone there isnt any unified solution. Lighting is next on the agenda with either Philips Hue or LIFX. Hue is the more established but LIFX when they get their cloud offering working will work directly with Nest.
  7. The same place I heard about the October 15th announcement of the Nexus 6 from Motorola and Nexus 9 from HTC.
  8. The Nexus 6 will be 32 bit but the Nexus 9 will be 64bit. Next year when Android M is released and is native 64 bit the 6 will not get the full optimized version but the 9 and the next Nexus phone which will almost certainly have a 64 bit processor will get all the goodness of 64bit OS. This is the reason I am skipping the 6.
  9. Changes will have to be made after today. Its hard to see how he can ever get into an F1 car again, not that it matters at this point.
  10. So Nexus 6 to have a 5.9 inch display..........I might miss this one I think.
  11. Rachel Riley is a stunner, end of.
  12. So it appears that in an effort to make the Iphone 6 & 6 plus slim and light Apple have not taken into account the fact the people will put them in jean pockets and there are plenty of upset owners who have bent their iphone. I used to own an iphone and with the 6 plus they have finally brought to market a handset I would consider as an upgrade but I might pass on this one.
  13. So now my wife has decided she wants to go for the Nest Thermostat because it looks nice!!! Having looked at the options to install it we narrowed it down to 2, through Nest themselves (fitted @ £249.00) or Npower (fitted @ £279.00). Now the only reason Npower got a second glance was that our boiler breakdown cover is with them and there would be less chance of there being issues. Well apparently not as it quite clearly states on the Npower website that any issues following installation should be taken up directly with Nest!! Will see if our boiler is compatible when the come to install.

    Smart Watches

This batch are 2nd gen. The Pebble was 1st gen. Well the Sony Smartwatch & Metawatch both preceeded the Pebble........ I should make clear I meant the 2nd generation of Android Wear which will inevitably follow.
  15. He isnt bright enough to use a "smartphone" or is brighter than I give him credit for and uses an android so wont be screwed over by Tim Cooks gang.

    Smart Watches

I was really keen to get an Android Wear watch and the Moto360 looks really nice however the more I have looked at it and read the reviews the more I have come to realise that version 1 is not the place to buy as there is just too much wrong. Battery life needs to improve quite a bit and wireless charging a la the 360 needs to be standard. There are some manufacturers who are listed as partners for android wear and have not yet brought anything to market and I will wait until they all have something out or might end up waiting for the 2015 Moto 360 where hopefully they will have ironed out some of the more obvious flaws.
  17. LVG can't offer him a contract until next summer. Isnt it January he can discuss contracts with other clubs.
  18. So Nexus owners, what would make you upgrade in the next month? I am definitely looking at whatever tablet comes out as my Nexus 7 (2012) is a little long in the tooth and the rumoured jump in screen size is exactly what I am looking for. The Nexus 6 or X or whatever it is called is a different matter. I think my Nexus 5 will still be current for another 12 months so unless the rumours of the Google Gem watch being bundled with it are true I will be holding off on this upgrade.
  19. I have no doubt that we wouldnt sell him in the summer so was told by LVG he would offer him a contract at Man Utd in the new year. Dont see him being around come next season.
  20. Yet again our throw-ins are appalling. No movement into space so we just toss it down the line. Good result though

    Smart Watches

Another +1 for the Pebble. Wireless charging with battery life lasting longer than 48 hours running android wear with a higher resolution screen than they are offering now and I'm in.

    Smart Watches

Well the Apple Watch in terms of appearance is a bit on the ugly side which is a really strange thing to say about an Apple product.
  23. Compared to all the moick ups on tech websites and even the Moto360 or LG R watch its not exactly a looker, not very Apple like really. Bigger iPhone had to happen despite their standpoint a few years ago that the original iPhone size was the sweetspot.

    Xbox One

I thought that CEX would be uping the Kinect price after MS announced that they were going to sell them separately for well over £100.00. We bought one from CEX Merry Hill the day that MS announced it for £20.00.

    Xbox One

Is this what you're trying to do? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qrp9lHL-ARQ Cheers for that, yes we can do that but what he wants to do and what he could do on the 360 was browse to the Plex server, chose a video and play it - all from his Xbox. This is hardly a good experience IMHO
