  1. Also John foxx....I was only introduced to that album courtesy of mixes by Fred deakin of lemon jelly and luke vibert's rejected solid steel mix. It's really ahead of his time, and "Dr no" is a great tune. Off the top of my head without moony-ing it, was he in roxy music?
  2. The best kind of label. (aforementioned finders keepers is on that list) Will check it out.
  3. A defining album in my lifetime! Saw them last Saturday at the Forum in Kentish town. Totally blew the roof off with the new stuff.
  4. So falls the one of about 3 people left in that world that has any kind of honour. My only hope is the Fire Priestess brings him back. But she can do one and all.
  5. Probs time for me to bust this old chestnut out again.
  6. Oooooh yes. I've not listened to that, and I love a bit of Koze
  7. Used to go see them play all the time when I lived in Austin. Their live shows could be anywhere from inspired to aimless rambles depending on how high they were. When they were on form, they were great...but they usually weren't. 'Passover' is a solid album for sure. They also featured on the last UNKLE record, in a track called 'Natural Selection' which is an absolute belter. I'm really into a lot of those affiliated or similar style bands like Autolux, Duke Spirit, Black Angels, BRMC, Joy Formidable, Brian Jonestown Massacre....
  8. I'm all for free markets and capitalism, but I think we've got the saturation point now where humans in the Western world have absolutely lost their minds. These massive trade agreements being negotiated look nothing short of insane to the sound of mind.
  9. I really want a Model M IBM keyboard. The only thing that came close was the early 1990's Apple keyboards: there were two of them, the basic and the extended. Below is the extended... Typing for programming really is a tight subject. These short/shallow keyboard fashions brought in by Apple are cack.
  10. It's 2015, not 1984. And the comedy replies to this should explain the fact that we're Aston Villa, and we're famous for being English football royalty. We're not famous for fighting, leave that to the prats Eastwards.
  11. Mr Blatter was back in his office at the Fifa headquarters in Zurich on Wednesday, the BBC understands. His daughter, Corinne Blatter-Andenmatten, is quoted by Swiss Daily Blick (in German) as saying her father's decision "has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with the allegations going around". "has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with the allegations going around" "has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with the allegations going around"
  12. "South Africa has denied paying a $10m bribe to secure the 2010 World Cup, in the wake of a US inquiry into corruption at world football body Fifa. Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula said the money in question was above board and intended to support football in the African diaspora in the Caribbean." "The money went into a fund controlled by Mr Warner." Above board. Sure.
  13. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32985804 "When asked about 20-year-old England international Sterling, Benitez said: "We admire Raheem, that's no secret - but he is not one of our players so I can't really comment on him." So.....................................................................................................you are commenting on him really, aren't you? Because..................................you just did.
  14. Oh god don't, that's mean. They know nothing Jon Snow
  15. Thought that looked interesting but reading up apparently 90% of the funding came from FIFA and Tim Roth himself said he was annoyed there was nothing about corruption, underhand dealing or back stabbing in the script. You thought it looked interesting? A film made and financed by FIFA? Where Sepp Blatter is the plucky hero and defies the odds to....make world cups happen? Sepp even said himself that "Tim did a good job of playing me" Did you really think it looked interesting...? Here's John Oliver's take on it, posted again if nobody has seen it: "Who makes a movie where the heroes are the executives?" OK I'll make it clearer for you. I watched the trailer (without sound) and thought it looked like an interesting film. I then read up about the FIFA funding stuff and that the cast thought it missed out all the stories of corruption etc. I now no longer think it looks like an interesting. I do recommend Oliver's rant though.

  17. I think it's been happening a long time, as we all do really. I just think this time round, they all got so drunk on greed and power that they all thought they were invincible and didn't feel the need to even bother trying to cover what they were doing.
  18. In my humble opinion, Australia were the only real candidate anyway, what with Japan and S Korea joint hosting in 2002. A world cup final at the MCC anyone, capacity 130,000, in the Summer? or a WC final IN THE F*KING DESERT IN WINTER It still makes me angry.
  19. I reckon Blatter has got the shredder on 24 hours a day.
  20. Okay, so remove that accusation and the rest still stands
  21. No, it isn't. They are being sent to the US because the Swiss agree with them, and it's crime going through US institutions. Shut up, Russia, you're just as bad with what you get up to. For a developed country, remind me what your global peace index is? Urgh, Putin's lot have as much humility as Sepp does.
  22. After looking at the statement from the FBI this could be the real deal. They really are trying to blow the lid off. This could be amazing, come on guys, take down Darth Splatter
  23. Noticed they demolished an Ottoman fortress from the mid 18th century to build that absolute monster. It's on a par with the Romanian capital building and North Korea's pyramid hotel for minging-ness. Mind you, those two buildings weren't built next door to the holiest site of one of the Abrahamic religions, so I guess it wins the title. ...because the best way forward for Mecca is to demolish it's character and history, right?
