  1. Unfinished Symphony was on the menu for me.... just on the Firebird Suite by Stravinsky currently which I adore.
  2. Needed to focus today at work so plugged in the old headphones and smashed some Schubert and Tchaikovsky down. Man that ending to the 1812 Overture always gets me pumped up.
  3. Watching the Usual Suspects tonight and it really is a brilliant film. Well shot, well acted and just a classic.
  4. Really enjoyable second episode. Only just realised its F Murray Abraham doing the voice of Khonshu
  5. Someone I know keeps spelling "Voilà" as "Wallah" and it keeps making me laugh so much I refuse to correct them which if you know me means a lot of restraint
  6. I nearly had Dredd in my action one. Felt bad leaving it out. There are about 50 movies that deserve to be up in my list and didn't make it. Comedy shafted so many and so did action and thriller
  7. If I'm getting fast and loose with the definition I'm counting The Hunt For Red October as a war movie although in hindsight I'd put it in my thrillers list. War - Hunt For Red October, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Lord of The Rings (being a little facetious there. That would go into fantasy ideally but is set during the War of the Ring so...)
  8. ****. I should have gone for Spinal Tap for Documentary. I feel like @Designer1 because I could have posted about 50 each of these, bar the Westerns
  9. Comedy Airplane! Hot Fuzz Monty Python and the Holy Grail Drama The Shawshank Redemption No Country for Old Men Goodfellas Thriller The Fugitive Children of Men Three Days of the Condor Action Raiders of the Lost Ark Terminator 2 The Dark Knight Sci-fi 2001: A Space Odyssey The Matrix Back to the Future Horror Alien The Shining Jaws Western 3.10 to Yuma Blazing Saddles Tombstone Animated The Incredibles Beauty and the Beast Finding Nemo Musical South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut Sound of Music The Wizard of Oz Foreign language Parasite The Secret In Their Eyes City of God Christmas Movie Muppets Christmas Carol Die Hard Home Alone Documentary 13th Bowling for Columbine Free Solo Some cross definition films here. Could have added more categories.
  10. Meaning of Life is definitely the third best of the Python films. But it has its moments. Every Sperm is Sacred is the best song the Pythons ever did and the bit with the French waiter making you follow him for ages makes me roll around as it just gets to me
  11. Oh lord. I love this. Going to pull mine together later
  12. I have a very soft spot in my heart for Equilibrium. I agree John Carter is better than its reputation but it's still a mess. I think the effects hold up really well The Grey is better than it looks as well, plus who doesn't want to see Liam Neeson square up to a wolf? Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is something that'll get me laughing my head off every time. Unstoppable - Tony Scott. Denzel Washington. Chris Pine. A train. Fun. 13th Warrior - Bottom of the pile of McTiernan's insanely good resume. If not for executive meddling I think this would be a classic. Sunshine - One of Danny Boyle's best Dredd - Cannot believe this film lost money. I've watched it about 20 times and I'll watch it 20 times more. Alex Garland has a wonderful eye Children of Men. Cuarons best and hes a damn good director too. I honestly think it has a claim to be one of the best films of the last 30 years
  13. I read hereby in my head as hereby like Hereford for years as I didn't hear it out loud and didn't bother to consult a dictionary for accuracy. I say bye-opp-pic and mye-opp-pic the same way
  14. Went to my first gig in two and a bit years to see Cory Wong (of Vulfpeck fame and an excellent guitarist in his own right). Second time I've seen him and both times it's been in Bristol. Was a great night
  15. Seeing some of the shouts in here I am flabbergasted. I've seen The Matrix, Die Hard, Predator and Pulp Fiction... what is wrong with you guys. The correct answer is Forrest Gump. 14th highest rated film of all-time on IMDb, won Best Picture of 1994, Best Actor for Tom Hanks (beating Morgan Freeman for Shawshank and Nigel Hawthorne for Madness of King George) and Best Director for Robert Zemeckis (robbing Tarantino for Pulp Fiction or Redford for Quiz Show)... and is probably only notable for an excellent performance by Gary Sinise and some excellent special effects. Hanks is good but is far better in about 7 other films, not least Road to Perdition where he didn't even get nominated... it's not in Zemeckis' top 5 either.
  16. I won't pre-order as I've never done that but I will almost certainly be buying this. Probs not gonna be out til 2029 but Wild Hunt is one of my favourite all-time games and the two DLCs are my favourite ever DLCs so...
  17. His accent had it's good moments but other moments he sounds like the ghost of Dick Van Dyke is possessing him. Oscar Isaac is definitely a magnetic actor that can carry off the role well. One plot point did annoy me was the confusing Friday for Sunday, I know I'm built different but if I woke up in the morning after waking up at home then I'd check my phone and see that it was **** Sunday and not Friday - did he not have to go to work on Friday? How do you go through a whole day thinking it was Friday, being out and about but not realise its Sunday? Also if Marc was the one who set up the date then he "was" Marc on the Friday when the date didn't happen so why didn't Marc go on the date he set up?
  18. A film that despite all the hilariously outdated technology today holds up so well as it captures certain parts of office working brilliantly. Gary Cole is absolutely fantastic. Practically everyone from the film is great though
  19. Super excited for Moon Knight. Oscar Isaac is gonna kill it. From watching the trailer though I really think if he was still with us that Anton Yelchin would have been perfect for this role
  20. 49ers Cowboys is however an intriguing matchup despite the massive history between the two. Cowboys are set up to exploit the 49ers weaknesses (giveaways, terrible cornerbacks) and the 49ers are set up to exploit the Cowboys weaknesses (run defence and YAC prevention)
  21. Tough road if the 49ers are going to get to the big one. @ Cowboys, @ Packers @ Bucs. In an ideal world we dunk the Cowboys out, the Eagles shock the Bucs and Arizona and Rams decimate each other, we beat the winner before Packers have a massive meltdown in the Eagles game meaning we have HFA against the Eagles who match up horribly against us
  22. At least Ronnie Spector got to see Phil Spector die in prison. Small recompense.
  23. 1 of 5 already. RIP to the great Sir Sidney Poitier. A fantastic actor.
