  1. Agreed. I can't think what the thinking behind it is for the parents other than, 'we buy it them because it makes them happy'. 'If we fatten them up enough, we can eat them for Christmas' :winkold:
  2. I went to a wedding at the weekend and I think there had either been a sale on DSLRs or the bride & groom had been giving them away at the reception. There must have been about 8 people with the exact same camera...
  3. Though it would prove he doesn't only buy british, I doubt it would shut up anyone. It would just be met with shouts of 'McLeish instigated it, not Lambert therefore blah blahh blahhhhhhhhhh' :winkold:
  4. I expect to hear many rendition of... We glow in the dark, we glow in the daaaaaarrk, We're Aston Villa, we glow in the dark,
  5. The guy was a VT cult hero because he had a stupid jumper and sat on a wall in a rap video. No he wasn't (and isn't). Just because a few people liked his jumper, doesn't mean he became a cult hero.
  6. Really? Is he pictured with that number? I thought he'd get number 4, which he had in the reserves
  7. If I was reffing that game, I wouldn't have let you have that long a run up for the goal kick!
  8. Not Me! I'm gonna have a quick look then go to sleep! I'd normally be in bed by now. At 25, my days of staying up past 11pm are loooooong gone :winkold:
  9. Villa fans. Moan? Surely not! I'm sick of this type of comment. Stop moaning
  10. I think the problem is players on high wages that don't justify them. Bent & Given justify their wages, imo.
  11. Not remembering things! I've had to buy a diary so I can remember when I have holidays/ events planned. My memory has been terrible for years and I'm only 25. This shouldn't happen! Surely?

I've never been a fan of her, and always thought she looked a bit like a snake. But recently, I was forced to watch a live show of her (on TV) at my girlfriends brothers house, and I rather enjoyed it! (To the point that I would like to cover one of her songs in my band! (In super-fast punk/ska stylie...))
  13. I'm waiting for a mod to come and clean up this abortion of a thread :winkold:
  14. It was only an idea. Also, my idea was for the whole team. I didn't mention goal bonuses or clean sheet bonuses 'just for defenders'. The aim of the team, and the football club, is to win games. So I don't see how a 'points per game' bonus system would not be fair. Players would be more inclined to defend a corner/ set piece, players wouldn't shoot for their goal bonus when a team mate is in a better position.
  15. It could work if you took out all the bonuses for goals/ assists and changed it to the two following criteria: - Points per game - Clean sheets For example: Let's say Hutton is on £30k p/w currently. His standard wage with this new structure would be £20k p/w. If we get 3 points per game, he adds 8k to his weekly wage. For every week we get a clean sheet he adds another £8k p/w. On a good week he would get £36k. If we won 2-1, he'd get £28k p/w. But also, the 'average points per game', would reduce quite drastically as it's very unlikely we'd win every game. I dunno, just an idea, following on from what Dante said.
  16. And why the hell would they agree to that??? I wouldn't and I'm sure you wouldn't if your new boss asked you. I'm sure I could manage living on 40k a week instead of 55k. Put a clause in the contract saying that if we achieve so and so position then you'll get an increase. I'd rather take a wage reduction if it meant freeing up some space to make more signings to bump us up the league... like you said though, can't see many being of the same mind. Just my no-nonsense approach to footballers wages and not justifying them. "You were crap, you don't deserve your wage, restructure to this or we'll sell you" We could say 'Two options; you agree to this new contract with reduced terms, or we place you on the transfer list'. But then they could just refuse to go to any club that came in for them (if anyone did). It's difficult to have that approach unless you're playing FM (in my first available transfer window I usually get rid of Heskey, Dunne, Collins & Petrov in any way possible :winkold:).
  17. I think it's the clearest indication that someone is coming. Hopefully it's Culverhouse & Karsa!
  18. Sorry Philosopher, but I completely disagree with that. Though MON would change tactics, we rarely changed the tactic to suit the team we were playing. So many times we would see the same 'tactical' change. 70th minute, take off one midfielder, bring on another (usually Sidwell). If we're still not producing by the 80th minute, put Collins upfront and/or Milner to rightback. If Me, frequenting a message board, whilst spending years as a ST holder in the Holte means I'm lacking the 'observational and analytical nous' to spot these other changes that you speak of, then so be it! But I definately did not imagine the 'Oh here we go again!' feeling that came with repeated substitutions and tactical changes that MON often used. BTW, I was a fan of MON, and I'm a fan of Lambert (and, for what it's worth, I do see similarities between the two) but I just think that Lambert has a LOT more tactical knowledge than MON.
  19. Finished 6th first season, 8th second season, 3rd third season and I'm 3 games away from the end of my 4th season. I was 1st until I hit a rough patch in January and Liverpool went on a run of 16 WINS in a row I have Liverpool in the FA Cup final and 2 league games left. I'm 3rd, 2 points behind first (but Liverpool have a game in hand). I also got to the Quarter Final of the Champions League, after topping my group against AC Milan, Real Madrid and Rangers 8-) I have a massive squad because I got taken over by a french billionaire! GK: Courtois, Gautier (gen) LB: Fabio, M'Bengue CB: Hangeland, Shawcross, Boyata, Clark, Serrano (gen) RB: Romario (gen), Nagirnyi (gen) DM: Marcq CM: Ledley, Kayal, Kucka, Seck (gen), Evans (gen) AMC: Djuricic, Sulejmani, Blonbou (gen), Webb (gen) AML: Gaitan AMR: Sterling ST: Balotelli, Tevez, Caicedo, Welbeck, Faye (gen) All of my gens have 4.5 star potential and are pushing the senior players out the team (Serrano, CB, 19 yrs old, 14 goals this season!)
  20. Ireland? He gives his all, he is one of our best players (on his day). Though..... most people would be fuming at that decision, so.. Collins.
  21. I don't know if people have seen it anyway, but on the OS there is a link that says 'meet macron' (under the countdown to the new kit). On that link there are quite a few videos. On the 15 minute video about design, it looks, to me, like the collar will be blue with just one claret stripe (and not multiple, like on the templates posted in this thread).
  22. I like him. I don't know enough about his job role to know whether he does an amazing job or a shit one, but I've liked what I've heard from him lately & he must be doing something right to get on the FA Council. I too have just watched the Faulkner interview on AVTV and he seem like he knows his stuff. Also, when mentioning Lamberts previous teams, he mentioned the fact that he was at the Wycombe v Chelsea, so maybe he's not just some business man that Lerner champions. He's also a football fan. (Unless he was out in the street selling scarves )
