  1. I missed all the great times in early 90s before the oil money showed up. 5th would be absolutely amazing. Top 4 is all up to us. We play well, no major injuries, it's ours.
  2. I get it nothing is given. After arsenal, I'm listening to our world #1 keeper. We are in the title fight. I refuse to talk about 5th.
  3. Chelsea You can't be serious. I thought this was this champions League thread.
  4. When did this become SpursTalk. Why are we still talking about fifth place.
  5. Birmingham having two solid PL teams will only be a plus for the city. One of the few positives of the championship years was being able to 6 pts off of them every season. Only thing really missing from from this current stay in PL is a side to purely despise. Wolves just isn't cutting it.
  6. Phillip Billings has "Phillip" on the back of his shirt. Pau is a pretty cool name so I like the decision.
  7. Would want starting 11 wages and given where we are as a revenue producing club that would kill our ffp. Duran has been with Emrey for almost a year now. He is well schooled on requirements of our system. Any new striker would cost a bucket load and have to plug in immediately to make his purchase worthwhile. I think we have to roll with Duran as the alternative if Watkins were to be out long term this season.
  8. Which title contender has a backup striker? Chelsea are going back in January for another striker. So that market is going to be crazy inflated. No way we find any available player at a decent value.
  9. On the same note, when was the last time the PL had 4/5 genuine title contenders. Plus, massive spenders like ManU/Chelsea occupying mid table. I feel like this season is shaping up for a low title winning points total. Look at the season Leicester won it. Big clubs, Villa()/Newcastle, getting relegated. Liverpool 8th, Chelsea 10th. I am starting to see the comparisons. Baring another cyborg like City winning run, a low points total could do it.
  10. Athletic subscription fee paying itself back multiple times over today. Arsenal fans popping up in the comments under every Villa article. The world's biggest victims. Don't you know the refs have a conspiracy against them specifically because of.... reasons. This season I was really struggling trying to find a new team to hate. Robotic City are boring, Liverpool are just meh and ManU/Chelsea are just hilariously bad. Thank you Arsenal. Showing your true colors from this past Saturday is only going to make our historic season that much more enjoyable.
  11. The Grealish transfer fee rolls off the FFP calculator at the end of the season. I wonder with us hopefully ending the season in the top 4 will allow us to avoid any major sells. It would be nice if we could continue selling players around the periphery of the squad and not one of our heavy hitters.
  12. Really, really upset I put a mere fiver on us to win at 30/1. Every pundit that declares we have no chance only tells me we absolutely do.
  13. We will all be laughing on the return fixture when Romero clatters Cash 3 minutes in, consider that job done then go on to lose 5-1 to the Villa. Can't wait!
  14. I need more of this please. Every salty Arsenal fan. I see why they capitulated versus Manchester City last year. Soft little club.
  15. Speaking of MLS clubs. DC United is looking for a manager as well. A little ex-Villa team up with him and Benteke. Could work.
  16. Part of the best midfield in the PL. We are well and truly in this. The sound of our team is elite.
  17. He's been the best keeper in the world for the better part of a year now.
  18. I only think about this dude when his thread gets bumped. Just let him fade to page 5 like other ex players. Don't need him or want him in this current squad.
  19. Fully agree on the multi-week game plan. Goto the Bournemouth recap thread and numerous posters were complaining about the early Konsa sub or just playing Diego at all. It's standard practice in American Football that coaches keep parts of their playbook secret til the playoffs or big regular season games. Amazing to see a football coach apply the same type of tactic. Unai is truly one of a kind.
  20. Honestly, I think that's exactly why Watkins didn't really complain afterwards. Bailey is currently in that rare sort of form where you just get out of the way and watch him win the match single handedly. Couldn't have happened at a better time. Here comes arsenal with both first choice FBs injured.
  21. I'm still wondering why Pep thought he could get away with playing an 18 year old and 2 CBs in a double pivot for his midfield. Did he not know he was going up against, imo, the best PL midfield duo in Kamara and Luiz. Also, it's not like he was forced to play that group. He had Kovacic and Nunes, combined transfer fee £90 million just sitting on his bench. But of hubris by ol Pep there. Yes we played extremely well but Pep's team selection played right into our hands. I'm guessing on the reverse fixture we won't be as lucky.
  22. Leon is a better man than me. I would have walked right into that trap, looked into the camera and declared the title race all but over. Leon is right we should stay humble. Until we tonk arsenal in a couple days. Then f*ck that humble stuff .
