I don’t think the Israelis are naive enough to think they’ll eradicate every Hamas gunman. What I think they’ll settle for, is destroying the infrastructure that enables Hamas to operate from a tunnel network that took years to construct. Expect a new barrier to be constructed after this is over, that will be infinitely more sophisticated than what was there on 10th of October. They may also retain a heavily armed presence in Gaza. Either way, the limited autonomy the Palestinians enjoyed prior to this conflict, is likely to be even more limited after.

A ceasefire is not indefinite, that would be an armistice. A humanitarian pause can be any length the combatants can agree on.

The only Party Bojo will join, is one with party poppers and plenty of food and booze.

You could argue that Jeremy Corbyn tried that, and here we are with a Tory Government. If you actually look at the policies that Corbyn championed, they’re pretty in line with what people are calling for now. Better public services, more workers rights etc. I voted for him in the Labour leadership election. My heart ruled my head on that one. The thing is, politics, sadly, is a cynical game. We’d all like to do what we think needs doing. But unless you actually win, you can’t do a damn thing. For what it’s worth, while I’m well to the left of Starmer, I think he’s playing the political game pretty well at the moment. If Labour win, Then the real arguments for meaningful change can begin, from a position of power.
