  1. OK deep breath and another 45mins like that please. Need to use subs wisely as a number will be blowing after that half and a big effort just a few days ago as well
  2. I have no idea about these specfic patterns but a good mate of mines Mrs is a nurse and does nights etc. They tend to play hay wire with her moods etc and he hates them with avengance. Not checked to see if this is backed up by science but I'd imagine the Human body is not designed to be constantly shifting its sleep patterns. This messes you up hence why they pay more for people to do it.
  3. So on Saturday I watched the Villa game, we all know how we felt after that. About 10 mins later I checked my work email and a deal that had been apparently signed and sealed on Friday had gone south meaning about £7k to me personally down the swanny. I just dropped my phone on the floor at lunchtime and smashed the screen despite having a screen protector on it. Muy muy dissapoint.
  4. I was expecting a ramp up of rumours over the next month or so. Cue the..."deal is dependant on staying up" type comments.
  5. Yes I think I got the ratios a bit out today as I felt pretty ropey for several minutes afterwards !
  6. So after last weeks discussions on cardio vs HIT I decided I am going to mix it up a bit. Usually do a different type of cardio everyday but I am going to do HIT 3 times a week and 2 more steady state cardio sessions to keep the endurance levels up. Did HIT for the first time in a long time today and nearly vomited on the floor after the grand total of 3 mins exercise (not including a little warm up). All good though Thinking I should maybe find some proper HIT routines as I made it up today, just did a Tabata style 20 secs full blast 10 seconds active rest. On the exercise bike with a high resistance for the full blast bits.
  7. Yeah I've seen and read all that JB but surely to build stamina (i.e. to still be going strong in the 90th minute, or final KM of a run/triathlon) you need to be doing longer duration cardio?
  8. The few times we went there under O'Neill it was among my favourites sporting days out, even though we lost. Nothing like having a boozy away day with 30k of your Villa brethern. Atmosphere was off the chart at times.
  9. Insightful as ever Stevo. Obviously everyone has different goals, for me I use the gym to help with the sports I do so having good stamina is important to me which is why I tend to do 30-60 mins stints of cardio rather than HIT stuff. (i.e. playing football, or running, swimming, cycling etc) I also do between 30-45 mins of weights 5 days a week. I think at the moment I'm getting a pretty good balance of cardio fitness and good muscle tone (though not a body builder by any means).
  10. A the perenial VT Gym Routine debate, cardio vs muscle growth. Quick question - is it just the calorie burning aspect of cardio that is detrimental to muscle growth or is there anything else about cardio which is inihibits building muscle. I'm not talking about 50 miles here but 30 min stints of cardio. It seems that most athletes do a tonne of cardio as well as loads of gym work.

  12. My biggest issue with Westwood is his tempo. He always seems to need to trap the ball to play even the simplest of passes. It is a key factor in why our build up play is so slow in my opinion. Would love to here someone get in his ear and ask him to look for a first time ball a bit more often, that and get a bit nastier/aggressive in his tackling/pressing. I thought he did the second bit very well in the second half against Leicester and was one of the reason why we were generally a lot more on the front foot.

  19. Also on the whole bringing through youth at Spurs thing which we want to do here. The only players anywhere near are Grealish and Robinson. Jack has a big chance and Robinson is a big maybe for me. The rest of the youth team is pretty pants at the moment no where near the level of previous years.
  20. Well I'm in the camp of not being massively thrilled as I always felt he was a massive bell during his time at Spurs. Also I'm amazed we've brought someone in with virtually no management experience bearing in mind the position we are in. However none of the names being thrown around were filling me with much faith. I'm feeling we've put ourselves in panic mode and it may well be too little too late. Nonetheless I am Villa through and through and he is our manager so will have my full support. I honestly have no idea if he'll be a disaster or superstar, that's the thing when you flip a coin.
