He's a decent and likeable player who is good enough to play in the premier league, he's athletic enough to get up and down the pitch. In a system that asks so much of your full backs his attacking limitations show up. 2 excellent attacking full backs are needed and a top DM who can fill in the gaps they leave is needed. I'd imagine unless he improves in the attacking third, we'll look to bring a new RB back in this summer.
  2. I believe he is, however if there's an opportunity to do a deal now, id consider it, a top player who would do the unglamorous work very well.
  3. The way we play under Gerrard relies on athletic attacking full backs and a dedicated dm, nakamba is our only dm and we're seeing his absence clear as day. Nakamba was outstanding under Gerrard up until his injury. Either way we are actively trying to solve these issues in the transfer market and let's see where we are at the end of the season.
  4. Gerrard also commented on his side’s interest in Everton full-back Lucas Digne, indicating that the wheels are in motion, without naming names "We are working hard on targets. It is not respectful to mention any names but there is no smoke without fire and we want to try and improve certain areas of our team and our squad.” Post match tonight, I'd imagine we are trying for minimum 2 more and maybe as many as 4 if you include a backup keeper. Coutinho, Digne, DM, CB and backup GK. Would be delighted with Coutinho, Digne and a top DM like Phillips or Bissouma. Everything else would be a bonus in this window. CB is needed, however I think we could try go big for one in the summer again.

  6. You really get all reactionary over the top posts directly after a defeat. We played well enough, were the better side by a distance and lacked a little quality where it mattered, Digne and Coutinho will improve the starting 11 considerably and our attacking output. Even if we lost the next 3 it shouldn't be panic stations, we are playing considerably better and much more competitive at the moment vs the first 10/11 games.
  7. Nonsense, we just battered utd at old Trafford and by way of poor refereeing and luck we didn't get a result we deserved based on our performance. We should have got a result vs man city and have been very competitive in every game so far.
  8. We play Everton after utd on Saturday, I could imagine they'd try delay any deal until after then.
  9. Very Klopp Liverpool-like tonight in performance, just without the world class full backs and forwards. Coutinho and Digne would elevate this team into a top 10 certainty in my mind and 2 more from challenging top 8.
  10. I thought he was out best player today, just needs to be more confident in shooting when in good positions. Carries the ball well, great engine and only going to get better.
  11. Did well and links up well with Ramsay who likes to play one touch too.
  12. I really can't understand some people! We're potentially signing Coutinho and Digne, 2 players better than anyone we currently have in those respective positions and people are moaning. Both are 28/29 the absolute prime age for a footballer and both proven PL players. We have one of the youngest squads in the PL, we need experience to push on now or it will be another few seasons hoping our youngsters hit their prime and then get poached by the super clubs. This time we're buying the players in their prime, we have already bought plenty of younger gems that have improved in value in Luiz, McGinn, Cash, Watkins, Konsa and more. If we want to seriously progress, we need proven talent now and start introducing the next gen into the team - Carney, Bidace, Ramsay, Kesler etc., If you said to me 2 weeks ago we could potentially have Coutinho and Digne in the Jan window, I'd of said that's optimistic! Add Bissouma and it's the best window we've had since Summer 95 for me.
  13. Mid table team, we'll win some and lose some and finish 12th. Frustrating given the investment, but early days and really missing nakamba. At least 1 new full back and 1 top class wide forward needed, also a proper dm on loan. Nakamba has his limitations but he's the only dm we have and shown his strengths when he's only asked to play to them. Luiz Is better further forward. El Ghazi, Trez should be sold if possible and make room for some of our youth options who may make it.
  14. The possession stats for the last 5 games are probably a bit skewed when we've played 4 teams who are arguably the best possession based sides in the league. If after the next 5 the numbers don't improve then it might be worth looking at, but of our 3 wins so far, none of them were smash and grab. Yesterday's performance was the worst of the lot and we never looked like winning, however again the reality was that we were playing one of the best teams in world football.
  15. Overall not a great performance today against top opposition, however sometimes reality bites and you have to face facts we were playing one of the very best teams in world football. It was disappointing not to play like prime Brazil today, but 5 games in there is already a semblance of identity and stability in the team. Win the next 2 and and no other manager in world football could have done better. Let's see how it goes, early cautious optimism along with a good dose of reality.
  16. Totally agree, he's a proven talent, plenty of time for him to settle, he's played less than 10 games and probably much less than that in terms of minutes. Harry Kane is struggling this season, but no one would argue he's not a top player and rightly so. Ings will come good I'm sure, and even if he doesn't, to call him dross is nonsense.
  17. I think Ramsay has shown enough glimpses that he'll be more than another water carrier. But Carney, looks a talent, different types of players but would be brilliant if both can push into starting players for us.
  18. Both can play in the same team if they're good enough. Ramsay has played well this season, and with under 20 pl games/minutes under his belt is arguably one of our most exciting talents since Jack.
  19. Played well, can offer another option from the bench. He also has that little Grealish swagger when he stands players up. Exciting potential, if he's managed correctly.
  20. A proper Ollie performance, was excellent in the first half and got his goal his overall play deserved.
  21. Frustrating decision making, but his pace was there to be seen on a couple of breaks. New country, new league, new team. Will take some time, but you can see he has quality.
  22. Excellent again, let him sit and break up play, we're using him correctly to get the best out of him.
  23. Played well, he's a frustrating player at times, but put in a shift and can make things happen. He's played about 6/7 games so far, crazy to write him off.
  24. Excellent today, played well all round.
  25. He's great for games like this where we won't have as much of the ball. Excellent today and didn't show up his limitations. Despite not having much of the ball today we were comfortable.
