He played RW for his previous club many times. Right forward and right wing are different positions... but anyway going from league 2 to the premier league, give the guy a break!

lay off the fella, he played well today. Some unwarranted stick he's getting on here and I'm unsure to what he's done wrong. Even in the game he started at VP he didn't do too bad, He's playing on the right of a forward 3 and he's really an out and out striker. As somebody has already said, pleasantly surprised.

This is not an over reaction at all, from all the games I have been to this season I haven't come away feeling as generally dissapointed as that. We are fully relegation material, and I struggle to see how others can say we will be OK with this and that... the whole team is poor, not just 1 or 2. There is limited spark, lack of movement and limited ability. Not scoring at home to either Wigan OR Southampton is shocking considering they are our rivals. There's no 'could be better' anymore... in my opinion it's now 'we're simply not good enough'.

Big difference today especially 2nd half...first 15 was Swansea vs Guzan. But did anyone see the reaction of our players when their equaliser went in? All of them on the floor absolutely gutted, even saw Benteke swing his arm in frustration. It proved they cared today and looked like they did too, onwards and upwards from here I feel. Herd and Clark were much better second half. Delph showed occasional glimpses. Bennett isn't a left midfielder. I feel if we would have had Vlaar/Dunne we would have saw that out. UTV

Seems to be the forgotten man at the moment... whens he due back? When back to full fitness I am really looking forward to super Marc playing under Lambo... anyone else optimistic about this? I think he is still very talented, and just watched a couple of videos of him on youtube... the ability is there and don't think you can just lose ability just like that. He'll come back better than ever I feel!

yet when you look at Lamberts record of signing players from the lower leagues it generally pays off, take Bradley Johnson, not the greatest player to set the world alight but played well for him at Norwich, and if not mistaken before Leeds he played for Northampton!... totally agree the squad is poor, but you just never know how good or bad the lad Stephens could be, give him a chance!

I'll be the first to admit, ive never heard of him either... but there seems to be negativity about this because he is unkown, this is why I cant stand some Villa fans, because its constantly negative. All we can do is see what he's like after about 10-15 games (and not 5 min cameos) and judge from that. Writing off someone because you haven't heard of someone is stupid. (Seemed to be silly comments in the general spec thread)

I can see why too with Huddlestone... Walker we had no option to buy and IF Huddlestone was decent in a Villa shirt then I can see another club like QPR giving him ridiculous wages at the end of the loan... And another reason if he's anything to go by Jenas who got crocked for the season then I can totally understand why were not interested, especially as he seems injury prone too. Is a centre mid even a priority?

conclusions from today 1. Wearing my long sleeve away shirt on a ridiculously hot day was interesting but will serve me well in the winter months. 2. The football we played at times was nice, but far too tippy tappy in the final third. With confidence, this may change. 3. We need a left back, despite how well Baker played. 4. We need a striker who can ruffle defenders up OR can either link up with the midfield. 5. I don't like West Ham, especially their fans, boring club. 6. Keep the faith, Lambert will be good!

Really? If Warmock goes then there MUST be a replacement on the cards. He is still the best left back at our club. I have the feeling the fans have had an influence on Lamberts thoughts on Warnock and Hutton. He must see that confidence wise there is no way back for them at Villa. It may even be a bit of indirect fan power at work. Just got back from me night out celebrating A level results! Ye gods honest, should have followed it up really to ask where he was going.
