  1. Did far more than Weimann. Think he needs to be given a crack again. I don't see what harm it can do, its not like things are going swimmingly. People seem to think we can sort of 'introduce a player' into our first team, but the upshot is we aren't good enough for nicey nicey introductions. Give him a start Saturday.
  2. Hasn't been at it recently. Seems unfit, or rushed back from an injury. Also think he's much better down the middle.
  3. Bang on about progression bla bla bla... its ludicrous to suggest. I asked numerous people today (friends and friends of friends etc) and every single one of them believes we are WORSE than we were last year. Lambert is out of his depth. I want and wanted him to succeed, but he is clueless im afraid.
  4. I really want one these to do it too, but just can't see it. They have a stable couple of games then go shit. Clark was dreadful today.
  5. I'm inclined to agree with this. If you ask players to work hard and wait for their chance, then when they finally get it (due to injury/suspension/whatever) and they perform better than the person they replaced, then why shouldn't they keep their place? The player who missed out now needs to wait and work for his chance. That is competition for places. That is being picked on form, not on favouritism. That allows for natural squad rotation due to injury/form. That builds the entire squad up to a better level. That is how it should work. It is also the most logical. No point having a 'squad' otherwise.
  6. Yes he should have. You don't drop a player becuase he couldn't play against his parent club. He has been playing well. However you now drop him for the United game, and bring Bennett in. Rubbish. A player who helps stop one of the best players in the world on form (Hazard) does not get dropped the week after, no matter who he replaced. I'd like to see it as the same principle of if say Albrighton scored 2 goals I wouldn't want Weimann / Gabby (if they were suspended for example) to jump straight back in the team, regardless of how they played before this.

First time to Old Trafford for a game. Normally don't go because of the price, but thought why not this year! Am in the boat of not having a scoobies where to go before the game. What's the general consensus?
  8. Another one the haters can't answer. Excellent generalisation of the 'haters' so well done. IMO Paul Lambert doesn't sign / loan decent enough players overall. There is a bigger miss ratio than hit. Holt was never going to be a hit. Pointless pointless signing, restricting progress of our younger players who a) are far more exciting than Holt and b ) probably make more of an impact
  9. Had an interesting conversation with the people around me yesterday about Guzan. I love Guzan, 2 of us think he's a real quality keeper for the premier league but at the same think he is a bit over rated. We gave an example as Marshall from Cardiff, always seems to pull off worldies, looks a bit better IMO. I know Guzan is part of our spine, and is an older head, but I don't think he's been as consistent as he was last season. I just think sometimes it 'seems' a bit easy to score past Guzan when you compare to other keepers. Still, happy with him and is definitely a leader in our dressing room.
  10. Should never have started yesterday in front of Bennett after the Chelsea game. Thought he was dross yesterday and seemed to lack technical ability which Bennett has.
  11. He has become something of a laughing stoke amongst Villa fans. But last season, our form took an upturn and he was in that side. I remember him looking a bit raw, but he loved a tackle and did actually read the game quite well. IF he had a run of games then we would be able to judge better. Last season some raved about him, this season he has hardly played and as stated by others looks rusty. In a nutshell he needs game time. There is a player there.
  12. I do rate Kozak. He is a real hard worker and scored goals for us when actually we were playing shocking football. Now we seem to have found the ability to cross the football, which I think Kozak would benefit from. His celebrations like the one at Southampton make me want him to really succeed at Villa, get back playing soon Libor, up the villa!
  13. I am on the fence. Im 20 years old now and have loved watching Villa growing up. I have had a season ticket for in total around 9 years and for the past few years have managed around 6/7 away games. I stayed through the Mcleish tenure. I can't imagine my weekend and week without sort of 'looking forward to a day out watching villa'... but week after week this club is becoming more of a shambles and the style of football is worse than what it was under Mcleish. The players we have are pathetic signed by an incompetent manager. I can't see the progression (which is on another thread) and I can't see what Lambert has done to deserve a new contract. I want to renew, but I can't justify it at all, as if he gets a new contract I will still see this crap week in week out. Now being intelligent why would somebody want to put themselves through such dog crap every weekend and be pissed off every week. The home 'performances' let alone the results are a joke.
  14. Am curious on the general vibe regarding season ticket renewal and Lamberks contract. Apologies if this didnt warrant a seperate thread.
  15. he is poor, but at the same time he is playing in an anti football team led by an incompetent manager. The guy clearly has talent but I feel for him in the sense if he gets a chance its normally through his own doing from a Brad Guzan punt.
  16. this player would not get into Lincoln City's squad. Rubbish.
  17. If he gets a new contract I will seriously consider not getting a season ticket next year whatever league we are in. I love villa, love a game day, but he is by far and away the worst manager for style of play I've seen. Anti football tosser.
  18. KEA is NOT a mid table standard midfielder. He brings literally in my opinion nothing to the team apart from a headless chicken approach of running around with the inability to tackle or make a presence of himself. Lambert persists with him because it was his signing. He is a 'rubbish' signing.
  19. This is precisely why I don't like Paul Lambert. I was fully behind him until this dog football. We clearly showed we can play a certain way against Liverpool and WBA. Everton had injuries so why the hell did Lambert decide to sit back so much. Rubbish tactics, rubbish game management, rubbish subs. Fed up of seeing decentish performances followed up by pathetic ones because of these tactics.
  20. That doesn't sound like an option to buy in place as part of the deal, that sounds like Bertrand saying coming here is an option and one he wouldn't rule out. That's how I read it too. I've been very impressed with Ryan, hope he carries this form on! The question I asked is it true there is an option to buy Bertrand? Praying we do, he is a quality left back and we can actually attack down the left side now. Do agree that Pats reply was not 100% clear but as he said it on 5 live, and to which Bertrand "we can assume" said that there is an option in the interview, I'm feeling positive!
  21. @patmurphybbc: @AReeson93 Bertrand made it quite clear in Monday interviews that it was an option & he wouldn't rule it out ... He replied with this when I asked about the option to buy
  22. Don't get me wrong, think Benteke is quality but I agree. He scored goals, but his general overall performance play was nowhere near of what it was last year. Maybe it is this seasons style of football, but he didn't look like the 'powerhouse' of last season.
  23. gonna blow my own trumpet, I was the one who started that chant, was a proud moment! Had a decent game! Long may it continue
