I really think people are under estimating Lescott. The bloke is a solid centre back, his attributes haven't weakened since 3/4 years ago. Its a no brainer, he's exactly the centre back we need, left sided next to Vlaar. I think he'll be one of those players who will come in and surprise those doubters. Bit like Richard Dunne in a way, who actually did in his first season or two and surprised a few!

Ultimately it is in our own hands.. beat Hull and we're fine. Massive massive game next week and they way we are playing, I don't think we'll win. A Sunderland win isn't the worst case scenario with what the other 3 are looking at. Our goal differences is another point effectively (as long as we dont get smashed at City). As things stand and if we don't pick up another point: Fulham have to win both games to go above us Cardiff have to win both games to go above us Norwich have to win one and draw one to go above us. Sunderland have to win one and draw one to go above us. With how things have gone this season and the unpredictability you never know but it seems unlikely. Shane Long actually might have saved us.

If we're worse then how come we're in a lot better position than we were this time last season? In terms of 'football' we are a lot worse. We weren't so one dimensional. Defensive mentality is pathetic. I don't know the nitty gritty but I am pretty sure the points tally isn't too dissimilar to last season. League positions are fooling, we finished 9th 3/4 seasons back, out of nowhere. WBA finished 8th last season, says it all. There hasn't been a season like this where so many teams are on similar points, so the fact we are in a 'better position' is fooling. We could be on the same points next season and be 17th 16th.
