  1. At least one of our players is doing well today. Nice one Aaron.
  2. Yeah, I have had about 40 years of it now , so I was half expecting a result like this. Newcastle has rarely been a great place for us picking up points. Just wish the capitulation wasn’t so bad, as there is plenty of time for it to get worse.
  3. Typical Villa, get your hopes up then kick you in the knackers.
  4. I think Pablo Villanueva is his assistant from Villarreal and further back. If the above report is true it will be him.
  5. That Barry Penalty incident looked to be outside the box to me. Still, that doesn't take away it was a nice run and turn of pace in behind the defence by the lad. It is a shame he didn't get to go through on goal and maybe score, but he was taken out by the defender.

    Unai Emery

Wow! Nothing in life is certain, but I think the owners have pulled of a massive coup here with one of the most successful managers we have ever appointed in my lifetime. Welcome Unai, wishing you the best of luck here. Hoping you can bring a bit of success to Villa Park.
  7. I would have been happy with either, but went with Emery. I think you are probably correct, that rumours of Poch ruling himself out did make me lean towards Emery. But I also took into consideration Emery's ability to get teams punching above their weight, and cup success at the more unfashionable teams in Spain. For Me, both Poch and Emery are still young managers with plenty to prove in the game, but both have that experience of managing bigger clubs and the pressure that brings along with experience of the PL under their belts already. I just think both of those managers tick a lot of boxes for me.
  8. Ok, thanks. That is good to hear that he has got some info correct in the past, that is good to hear. I am not on Twitter, so I am oblivious to who is who on there. Emery was my preferred choice for manager. I hope that this is true, as I think he would be one of the best we could get for our current level . I hope he can take us to the next level, and be challenging those top 6-8 slots on a regular basis.
  9. Who is this Lyric you have all been mentioning over the last few days, and what has he done that makes him/her the Oracle when it comes to ITK and our new manager?
  10. I said when we signed him that sometimes the signings who are the least exciting , end up being the most important. Hopefully he can continue in this vein, give protection to the back four and a solid platform for the team to play from.
  11. Or he may be @messi11 as last time I checked was 4th favourite in the poll on here.
  12. Wow, I did not expect that result! Well done lads. I can watch MOTD tonight for a change.
  13. Fulham could be putting the final nail in the coffin of another PL manager right now. Jesse Marsch must be on shaky ground.
  14. Expecting another defeat today to be honest. Brentford are a very decent well organised side, our lot look a shambles after Thursday. I don’t see Danks being a tactical magician and pulling a result out of the bag. If we could get a draw I would be happy with that. How depressing!
  15. I think the owners still have high ambitions for the club, I think the new North Stand, Inner City academy and overseas link up clubs point to that. I think they will want someone to come in who will give us hope and excitement. Dyche would be the equivalent of Lerner appointing McLeish. To be honest I hope the people making the decision are far more informed than I am and make the right decision. I think the team needs some refreshing and also some confidence restored. For now we need someone who can get them playing to their strengths, as that will help the confidence. I don’t think the players fully believed in Gerrards system, so he should have reverted to something they were comfortable with until he had the right players in place to change it up.
  16. Yeah I am not expecting instant trophies. I am thinking Emery must have something about him to build and guide a team to those achievements. I think he is a great tactician firstly, as his teams have to have been coming up against more expensively assembled teams and winning. Who would you choose?
  17. I voted Emery as he has a good solid history of winning trophies at unfashionable clubs. I think that is the position we find ourselves in currently. I feel he was harshly treated at Arsenal, and was always going to be up against it following in Wengers footsteps. However, I wouldn’t be upset if Poch is announced as the new manager either. I don’t think Tuchel will be an option, but again would be happy as Larry if he rocked up at VP.
  18. So hang on here. Have I read this correctly? Dougie has been found not guilty of a Heabutt that the referee Michael Oliver and the VAR ref saw as a clear red card last night? Is Mitrovic banned now for being a cheating Bamford? Is Michael Oliver a total weapon of mass destruction? That guy should never referee again. Top referee my @rse.
  19. As an outsider looking in, he seems to have done well for Leicester. An FA cup win is not to be sniffed at, many on here would give their right arm to win that one. It looks like he is starting to get results now this season, so I think Leicester will start to climb the table now.
  20. Yeah I would take Rodger’s, he wouldn’t be my number 1 choice but he would be a massive upgrade on what we had. We might look like we know what to do with a football again with him in charge.
  21. I had never heard of Amorim before today, so I personally can’t get too excited about appointing another unproven manager. I think I am still scarred by Remi Garde. I think my heart is still set on Unai Emery, Pochetino or Roberton Mancini. Those three have pedigree at the very top level, and would be less risky appointments. I imagine my heart will be left wanting though. We can dream though.
  22. Ashley Preece has said that Nas stormed out when Dougie received the red card. I think that watching the match up to that point had left Nas as angry as the rest of us, and the decision was made.
  23. Yeah it was reported by Preece that NS was extremely angry at the game, and had stormed out immediately after Dougie was sent off. I imagine he had seen enough by that point in the game, that he knew what he had to do. It was a weak performance from the first few minutes, we all saw it, Fulham ran rings around us. At no point did we look like a team that cost millions to assemble.
  24. They are all fair points. I do think the direct contact with owners is a thing of the past these days, as these new owners are not as hands on as say Doug Ellis who had nothing else other than the Villa. The manager and sporting director need to be on the same page for decision making, without interference from above muddying the waters and disrupting the plans of the first team manager. The sporting director should be the one reporting back to the owners and CEO, although the manager does still need some contact with the owners to make it a team. I do think Lange may need to be looked at again in future, as the buck ultimately stops with him on the football matters. The turnaround in Newcastle's fortunes since they appointed Dan Ashworth shows what a good sporting director can help achieve . The question I have is, does Purslow stick his nose in where he shouldn't? None of us know what happens behind closed doors, and it's all speculation on here, but It is something the owners may need to look into, as that should not be happening as it undermines the others in their respective roles. I do feel that Lange and Purslow have enough good will in the bank for now, but their positions will come under scrutiny from NSWE if the next appointment doesn't work out.
