  1. Yeah you are probably right about Sherwood. If he had gone after the FA Cup final I wouldn't have the same opinion, he wasn't the right man to entrust a big squad rebuild to. He is the definition of short term stopgap manager, bought in to raise morale and get a boost, any longer and his weaknesses become apparent. Regarding the last sentence, sadly we have quite a few we could argue the case for over the years, especially during the last 10 or so years. The good ones are far less common.
  2. I agree with McNeill, they were dark times in back in 1987. I tend to cut Garde a bit of slack, the damage was well and truely done by the point he arrived. Sherwood had blown all of the Benteke and Deplph money, we had some foreign players who went ont to have good careers at the top levels across europe but he had no idea how to get them all playing well together. Sherwoods biggest mistakes were thinking Gestede could replace Benteke's goals and that the chuckle brothers together in central defence was a good idea. Neither Lescott or Richards were good defenders imo. Therefore I would place Sherwood ahead of Garde. Graham Turner who was manager before McNeill was another who was out of his depth and promoted too quickly up the leagues, that one is on Doug and his quest to replace the aging European Cup winners with the original young and hungry model. But Turner would be up there with McNeill and Sherwood in my opinion. Gerrard I would class as on a similar level of ineptitude as Turner. So McNeill no.1, Sherwood no.2 and Gerrard and Turner battling it out for that third spot.

    The NSWE Board

It would be nice if they have someone who is actually good more or less ready to go. That was one of the big red flags about Lerner's tenure, we always seemed to lurch from one crisis to another as we didn't have a plan in place for someone to pick up the reins. That, and he tended to just shop for managers in the bargain basement. We need to be smart and fast, as we are worryingly close to the drop zone and the season is already nearly a third of the way through. The players look lost and clueless last night, and we need a good manager to pick them up and get them playing again. The First Team manager/coach is probably the most important role at a PL club. Do not scrimp and save on that role, as it will cost you millions more in the long run on wasted transfer fees and loss of income from finishing position in the table. What I am saying is it is time for NSWE to go big, and prove that they intend for us to be challenging in the upper echelons of the PL by getting us a proven top quality manager.

    Austin MacPhee

I put this in the Gerrard thread, but probably should go in here:- I mean, McPhee what does he do. The defending for the first goal was abysmal, all of the defenders were lined up on the 6 yard box when it dropped to their guy on the edge of the box. The team had a warning minutes earlier when Andreas Pereira had a great volley from the edge of the box deflected just wide after a cross from a corner. We don't look inventive from set pieces, and we don't look like we defend them much better after last nights showing.
  5. Considering we are only 11 games into the season, that is at least two contentious penalties given against us already. The Crystal Palace one at Selhurst Park was a joke as well. PGMOL not fit for purpose!

  7. Danks and McPhee need to go as well. Things took a turn for the worse when they came on board. I think they are the boards appointments though, so I bet they survive.
  8. I do wonder about Michael Oliver in the same way I worried about Kevin Friend refereeing Villa matches. I am not sure they are corrupt, but do think there is a bit of anti villa sentiment from them both. Friend was a Leicester City fan, who apparently was in the crowd the day we put 5 past Leicester at their place with Crouch scoring. Oliver is a Newcastle fan, and we all know how Newcastle fans feel about Villa. They have never got over the "Who's your next Messiah? Ant or Dec?" banner, or the "Sob on the tyne" banner. I wouldn't be shocked to hear Oliver holds a deep hatred for Villa. Think back, when has Oliver ever given a big decision in our favour? I can think of a few going against us over the years.
  9. He has left it too long, we look a shambles now and I can’t see a top manager thinking they can rescue this lot. Some of those players look league two level at best now.
  10. True, it could have been a lot worse. I am just too pissed off to vote for any of them though.
  11. I am not voting for a motm, they were all shite!
  12. I was about to write our players have no fire in their bellies and Luiz goes and does that. That is not the fire I was looking for, there was no hard but fair challenges to rough up the opposition, we just let them pass around us. No steel or fight in that team at all, very worrying.
  13. That has got to be it now. Gerrard cannot survive that performance. PS Mitrovic is a grade a tw@. Our players are thick as pig muck.
  14. Yeah just what I thought, straight up the other end and couldn’t wait to point to the spot. Oliver is from Newcastle, I can only assume he never saw the funny side to the sob on the tyne banner. He has never given us a decision.
  15. Have we ever won a match with Michael Oliver refereeing?
  16. Konsa was cowardly there. His ducking out almost cost us
  17. Nice cushioned header back to the keeper by Ings. Well defended!
  18. It looks that way. Fulham are running rings around us, it’s embarrassing!
  19. If only, as that would mean I don’t have to watch any more of this shite!
  20. The problem is you can’t see us scoring a goal these days, so with that in mind we are done.
  21. Why is nobody on the edge of the box? McPhee and Gerrard F off out of the club
  22. He is shocking. I am not sure what has happened with him.
  23. We are hanging in just about. Feels like a goal is coming.
  24. I can’t believe you guys are still arguing over that mistake at the weekend. Mings messed up, he admitted it at HT and said sorry to his team mates. It was definitely Mings fault for that first goal. Mings issue is he tends to be careless in distributing the ball, even when he has ample time he sometimes mid-kicks it. I don’t know what it is, he just sometimes lacks concentration when something seems easy. When he is fully focussed, and just defending he is an impressive defender. He just lets himself down every now and then, which is why he won’t be classed as a top defender.
