  1. A few days doing something for charity (and no doubt his "profile") the rotter. And despite that Hunted on the run thing, he still managed to turn up to do voting in parliament. The problems with UC aren't his doing. Mind you, he's still a tory, so...carry on.
  2. Fetch black coffee. Brian’s pissed again. Can’t even spell simple words properly. ?
  3. You're right, Junxs, I got the name wrong. Everton players all look the same to me

I think I can explain this. He’s American. You’re welcome.

    U.S. Politics

I think she might want to be President of America. Didn't Obama have all this crap from Trumper about being Kenyan or something? Eventually he released his passport, but all the while, the "doubt" was used by Trump as a dog-whistle thing for numbskull supporters. Maybe by releasing this thing, she's hoping to partially neutralise a similar thing with her? Doesn't he call her pocahontas all the time as a "she's faked her indian heritage" thing?
  6. I know. It's just that it's the law that someone has to post the Smash robots clip in any discussion of mash. The duty fell upon me.
  7. I've given up "helping" people with this kind of thing. I've deduced that the till operators don't use their brains, or do maths, they prefer typing in to the till and reading what it says and then fishing out the resultant number of coins. For a £3.75 pint, they'd rather me give them a fiver and then they type in £5 and get told fish out £1 + 2 x 10p + 1 x 5p, then me give them 5.75 and them have to work out they need to give me a £2 coin. Don't help till people. It doesn't work.
  8. That’s the sensible interpretation, the maths one, the accounting one. Totally. I’m concerned still that “sell to buy” is actually optimistic spin. All I’ve done is read the EFL FFP rules, read the accounts and concluded something different, something worse. The voices, the sums, the rules. They don’t match up.
  9. There's definitely a big difference between head and no head, er, give or take a bit.
  10. The clean slate is with regard to actual debt to other parties, not to FFP. i.e. the new owners paid off all debts (apparently) to HMRC, other clubs, whoever. That is NOT the same as having FFP "wiped" The FFP rules are still the FFP rules. This is what he said What's intriguing is that he's saying we can "easily" support (signings) and remain within the FFP rules. I must confes to being baffled as to how, but I'm just a bod i nthe internet, not a CEO, so wahey!
  11. Yes, exactly. If you were going to follow that way of operating, (well, if it were up to me) you'd want to get the/a main man/woman in, who understands how to set up the system, and how it would need to work. You'd not start with the manager and coaches and DoF. I don't think we're going to copy the Brentford model. I think we'll do it "our" way, which will be more like continental clubs. Have a structure that means not having to throw the baby out with the bathwater each time. I'm also surte we'll learn from Brentford and adopt some of their methodologies, brought along by DS and RO'K.
  12. Being brutally honest, it doesn’t actually look like that at all, yet. Least, not to me. Superficially having a head coach plus assistants is what a huge range of clubs do, but I don’t think that’s the key to Brentford’s “system”. We’ve just recruited their coach and his assistant and added another. The whole role of the moneyball and opta analytics, the recruiting and scouting and all that stuff, sure we might also go that way, but us recruiting the Jesus fella from Valencia or wherever it was, that’s not looking like it’s replicating Brentford, is it? We’ve heard no news of computer / sports analysts have we? Have I missed something?

  14. It seems unlikely to me. His two best attributes are his ability to go past people like they're not there, and his picking of an attacking pass. His weakest parts are heading and tackling. It would be massively wasteful and counter productive to play him there, IMO.

Nah, that's just a wind up.
  16. Not so sure on that. “ here, have a pay rise, if we look like going up, then it’s Prem with Villa, if we don’t then go to Spurs or Chelsea in Jan and we pocket a decent fee to help the club” but otherwise I agree
  17. Yeah, I hope so too. I wonder if it isn’t along the lines of sell as many as we can and probably Jack, too, make a profit and try and raise other income through some deals on the commercial side. It all looks very forlorn to me, unless there’s a huge wedge coming from somewhere.
  18. That post is woefully inconsistent. The FFP rules are clear and documented. Villas financial accounts are a matter of public record, available on the Companies house website. That much is fact. Also fact is the reduced parachute money and reduced FFP loss allowance. From these facts it is inevitable that Villa has serious, serious issues with failing to meet FFP this season and this includes being able to afford signings. This is fact. It’s not from some ropy website like HITC. on the other hand, you have “belief” that our owners have a plan around FFP. I really hope they do, because we’re **** by it. We’re so far away from meeting the rules it’s laughable. What is your “belief” based on? Nothing more than some sort of vague notion that you hope they know what they’re doing, I’d wager, because that’s exactly my straw to clutch at. Sadly, the odds aren’t good in this area.

    Turkey, yes. The US though...why?

    Saudi Arabia

It’s just....odd. The whole thing. There are many nations where journalists are murdered for opposing, or printing criticism of, or corruption of leaders etc. It mostly, sadly, goes little remarked upon. China, Russia, N.Korea, Iran, KSA, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Mexico, India, Pakistan and more. Yet this time KSA does it and it’s covered in more detail, though perhaps more as a “mystery interest” thing than a murder of a critic. And as the Twitter says, KSA does other, worse, things and the media and the world sort of shrugs.
  21. Are you thinking of a Mogwai video?
